Status: Expired. Verizon’s +play promotion offered one year of Netflix Premium to customers who bought a qualifying paid subscription, but it ended in late December 2023. Verizon now says the offer is unavailable and new subscription enrollments through +play are closed.
The promotion was not a free Netflix giveaway for every Verizon customer: buyers paid upfront for an eligible annual or seasonal service, and Netflix could start billing monthly after the promotional year unless canceled.

What the Verizon +play Netflix offer included
Verizon covered the cost of Netflix Premium for one year after a customer purchased and activated a qualifying subscription through +play, Verizon’s subscription marketplace. The offer was real, but it was a time-limited 2023 promotion—not an ongoing Verizon wireless benefit. Verizon’s promotion FAQ now says it is no longer available.
Contemporaneous coverage reported that the promotion began November 17, 2023, and Verizon’s current documentation confirms the offer is over. The available references place its end in late December 2023; one reports December 28, while Verizon’s bundle FAQ lists December 29 for related promotions. The precise cutoff for this version is therefore best described as late December.

Which subscriptions qualified?
The 2023 promotion was tied to specific plans, not to any subscription from those brands. The reported qualifying offers were:

The list and launch timing were reported by Cord Cutters News in November 2023. A basic Paramount+ plan, another Xbox plan, or a different NBA League Pass option should not be assumed to have qualified.

What customers paid—and what could be billed later
Customers paid the full cost of the qualifying annual or seasonal subscription upfront. Netflix Premium was the promotional part; the qualifying service itself was not free. Verizon described the Netflix benefit as lasting one year, after which Netflix converted to paid monthly billing at the then-current rate unless the customer canceled. The promotion was non-refundable, and taxes or applicable charges could apply. Verizon’s offer terms also warned that the qualifying service could continue or renew under its own billing terms.
Whether the deal made financial sense depended on wanting the qualifying service independently of Netflix. Buying a full annual or seasonal subscription solely to get Netflix could leave someone paying for content they did not use. Historical prices and the value of Netflix Premium at the time are not established here, so a dollar savings figure would be unreliable.

Who could use +play?
The offer was for eligible Verizon customers using +play, not all Netflix subscribers or all Verizon customers. Verizon’s general +play eligibility terms included qualifying standard monthly Verizon mobile, 5G Home Internet, eligible LTE Home Internet, or Fios accounts. Account Owner or Account Manager status and an age of at least 18 were generally required under Verizon’s account rules. Prepaid and business accounts were not eligible to subscribe through +play under those general terms.
Those are general platform requirements, not a complete reconstruction of every promotion-specific condition from 2023. Verizon’s +play FAQ provides its current platform information.

Could existing Netflix subscribers participate?
Yes. Verizon’s promotion FAQ says both new and existing Netflix customers were eligible, with existing customers able to link or migrate an eligible account to the +play promotion. Linking did not mean Netflix account ownership transferred to Verizon.
That arrangement made billing worth checking directly. After activation, customers could review their Netflix account page to confirm the billing partner and next billing date. If an existing account was linked, canceling the promotional Netflix subscription did not necessarily cancel the Netflix membership; Netflix could resume charging the payment method already on the account when the promotional period ended.

Activation, cancellation, and the end of the promotional year
Activate the qualifying subscription
Verizon’s FAQ said the qualifying service had to be activated within 30 days. Failure to activate within that window could result in cancellation of the order and Netflix promotion.
Keep the two cancellation tasks separate
Canceling the qualifying service and canceling Netflix through +play were separate actions. Verizon said customers could manage eligible subscriptions on the +play Manage page; canceling during the Netflix promotional period generally allowed access through the remaining promotional term, subject to the offer terms. Canceling Netflix through +play was not necessarily the same as canceling an underlying Netflix membership or a separate Netflix subscription billed directly by Netflix.
- Open the Verizon +play Manage page and review the status and billing terms for both the qualifying service and Netflix.
- Cancel each subscription you do not want to continue through its applicable billing channel and before its renewal or paid-billing date.
- Open the Netflix account page to check its payment method, billing partner, and next billing date, especially if you linked an existing account.
+play was a subscription-management marketplace, not a streaming app: customers activated content services through the providers’ own websites or apps and used Verizon to manage eligible subscriptions and billing. Verizon says access to +play itself was provided at no cost to eligible customers, while subscription purchases were separately charged.
Can you claim the offer now, or get a similar Verizon perk?
No. Verizon’s promotion FAQ says the one-year offer is no longer available, and its +play FAQ says new subscription enrollments through +play are no longer available. Customers with active subscriptions can still manage them.
Verizon has separate Netflix-related benefits attached to some current plans. Those are not the expired +play promotion, and their eligibility and costs differ. Check Verizon’s plan perks support page for current terms rather than assuming a plan includes the old one-year Netflix Premium offer.
