What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The dependable way to use one playlist on an iPhone, Android phone, and Windows PC is to keep it in a music service that has apps or web access on all three devices, then sign in to the same account and enable library syncing. Moving a playlist to a different service is a separate job: a transfer tool rebuilds it by matching tracks, so missing or incorrect versions are possible. For MP3, AAC, or FLAC collections, copy the audio files and the playlist file together; a playlist by itself does not contain the music.
First decide what “transfer” means
These three operations look similar but require different methods.
Syncing within one service
A Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, TIDAL, Deezer, or Amazon Music playlist remains in that service’s cloud library. Sign in to the same account on each phone and on Windows. Edits normally appear on every supported device, while offline downloads must be made separately on each device.
Migrating between services
Moving Spotify tracks to Apple Music, for example, creates a new playlist from catalog matches. The destination may select a clean version, remaster, live performance, compilation edition, or regional release—or find no match at all. Treat this as playlist reconstruction, not a bit-for-bit copy.

Moving a local playlist
A local playlist points to files stored on a computer, phone, drive, or network share. You must move the audio files, the playlist file, and any artwork or tags your player relies on.
Choose the right method
| Need | Best method | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| One playlist on iPhone, Android, and Windows | Use one cloud music service and sign in everywhere | Depends on that service’s catalog and subscription |
| Move between streaming services | Destination service transfer, TuneMyMusic, or Soundiiz | Some tracks will not match correctly |
| Keep a service-independent backup | Export CSV/TXT or M3U, M3U8, PLS, WPL, XSPF, or XML | Usually stores metadata, not audio |
| Play owned MP3, AAC, or FLAC files everywhere | Copy files and playlist together | Paths and app compatibility can break |
| Keep subscription music offline | Download inside the service’s app on each device | Downloads generally cannot be copied as ordinary audio files |
The easiest option: sync one service across devices
Install the service’s Windows app where available, or use its web player, then use the same account on both phones. This keeps the playlist in one library instead of creating separate copies.
Apple Music example: Windows, iPhone, and Android
Apple says Sync Library can make a cloud library, including playlists, available on supported devices when you use the same Apple Account. Its Windows guide states that the library can include up to 100,000 songs subject to Apple’s file and service conditions: Apple’s Sync Library guide.
- In Apple Music for Windows, open the sidebar actions button.
- Choose Settings, then General.
- Turn on Sync library.
- Sign in with the same Apple Account on the other devices.
- On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Apps → Music and turn on Sync Library.
Syncing the playlist does not copy offline files between devices. Apple explains that subscription downloads are made for the app and cannot be manually transferred from Windows to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod as ordinary files: Apple’s download guidance.
Owned music and Apple devices
For personally owned files in Apple Music on Windows, Apple Devices can sync an entire library or selected playlists to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod over USB or Wi-Fi: Apple’s Windows device-sync instructions.

Move a playlist between streaming services
Before a large migration, make a short test playlist containing ordinary tracks, an explicit song, a live or remastered recording, and a regional or compilation track. Review the results before moving the rest.
YouTube Music’s built-in transfer
In the YouTube Music app, the current path is:
- Tap your profile picture.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Privacy & data.
- Select Transfer playlists from other apps, then Let’s start.
- Sign in to the source service.
- Choose playlists and select Transfer to YouTube Music.
- Authorize your Google Account if prompted.
Google documents this process at YouTube Music playlist transfers. The source playlist remains intact, later edits do not synchronize, podcasts are not imported or exported through this process, and large jobs may run in the background. Unavailable or ambiguous songs can fail to match.
Google points users toward third-party services for routes it does not support, while saying it does not guarantee those providers: Google’s export and third-party guidance.

Audit the destination playlist
A successful completion message is not proof that the result is correct. Check:
- Track count, including duplicates.
- The first, middle, and final tracks to confirm order.
- Explicit versus clean editions.
- Studio, live, acoustic, remix, and remastered versions.
- Album and artist details.
- Missing tracks and regional availability.
- Whether the destination account and playlist visibility are correct.

For DRM-free music you own or are legally allowed to use, keep the files and playlist under one parent folder, for example:
Music/
Artist/
Album/
01 - Track Title.flac
02 - Track Title.flac
Playlists/
Road Trip.m3u8
This layout is practical, not mandatory. The essential rule is to copy the audio files and playlist together, preserving the folder structure.
Understand playlist formats and paths
- M3U/M3U8: common text playlists; M3U8 uses UTF-8 encoding.
- PLS, WPL, XSPF, XML, CSV, and TXT: supported by some players and transfer tools.
- Absolute paths: a path such as
C:UsersNameMusicSong.mp3usually breaks on another computer or phone. - Relative paths: can survive a move if the same parent folder and structure are preserved.
Put the playlist and music folder inside one parent folder, use relative paths when the software supports them, copy that folder intact, and test it. No phone app supports every format, so choose a player that can read both the selected format and the file types. If import fails, rebuild the playlist from a CSV or TXT list.

Importing local files into Apple Music for Windows
In Apple Music, open the sidebar actions button, choose Import, select a file or folder, and choose Open. Apple warns that importing may reference the original location instead of copying the file; moving that original later can make the track unavailable: Apple’s local-file import guide.
Make future transfers easier
- Use consistent title, artist, album, and version metadata.
- Label alternatives clearly with terms such as Live, Remastered, Radio Edit, Acoustic, or Explicit.
- Avoid ambiguous names such as “Intro” without artist and album context.
- Use ordinary playlist names rather than app-specific smart rules or folder logic.
- Keep a CSV or TXT backup with title, artist, album, and order.
- Split extremely large playlists only after checking the destination’s current limits.
- Test 10–20 representative tracks before transferring a large library.
Common failures and fixes
Wrong recording
Replace the match when the service selected a clean, live, remastered, regional, compilation, or deluxe edition.
Missing tracks
The recording may not be licensed in your country, may be absent from the destination catalog, or may be a podcast, audiobook, upload, music video, or local file. Incomplete metadata can also prevent a match.
The playlist opens empty
For local playlists, inspect the file paths. Absolute Windows paths often point to a nonexistent location on the new device. Restore the original folder structure or recreate the playlist from its text export.

Confirm that the underlying files were copied and that the player can access the folder. Apple Music may have referenced files in their old location rather than copying them.
Transfer stalls or creates duplicates
Large jobs can run in the background. Wait for completion, check the destination before repeating the job, and transfer into a newly named test playlist when possible.
Third-party access concerns
Read the provider’s privacy policy, use its normal authorization screen rather than handing over a password, grant only requested permissions, and revoke access after the transfer if you no longer need the service.
What a playlist transfer cannot do
- It does not turn subscription downloads into ordinary MP3, AAC, or FLAC files.
- It cannot transfer a recording that the destination does not offer.
- It normally excludes podcasts, audiobooks, uploads, and video-only items when the destination does not support them.
- Smart-playlist rules, folders, and some shared or curated playlists may not survive.
- A one-time transfer does not create ongoing synchronization between services.
The Bottom Line
Use one cloud service and the same account for effortless cross-device access. Use a built-in importer, TuneMyMusic, or Soundiiz for a one-time service migration, then audit every match. For independent ownership, keep DRM-free audio files with an M3U/M3U8 or human-readable CSV/TXT backup.
