Error 400 on discovery+ has no single publicly documented meaning or universal fix. It can appear while the app opens, during sign-in, or when a video starts—even when other apps still have internet access. Begin with low-risk tests: try another supported device, restart the app, device and router, update discovery+, and temporarily disable VPNs or ad blockers. Then use the device-specific steps below.
Help pages and supported-device lists differ by country. Select your country at the discovery+ support center before following a regional menu path.
What Error 400 means on discovery+
discovery+’s public help pages do not define Error 400 as one specific fault. The same code may be shown when opening the app, signing in, loading a title, or displaying a message such as “not connected to the internet.” The number alone cannot tell you whether the cause is the account, app, browser, device, network, provider integration or discovery+ itself.
Before changing anything, record the exact wording, device model, app or operating-system version, whether the error appears before or after sign-in, whether other apps work, and whether discovery+ works on another device. Those observations make the tests below useful rather than a sequence of guesses.

Quick fixes to try first
- Force-close discovery+ and open it again.
- Restart the affected phone, browser device, TV or streaming player.
- Restart the modem and router.
- Install pending discovery+ and operating-system or TV-firmware updates.
- Try discovery+ on another supported device.
- Temporarily disable a VPN, DNS-filtering service, browser ad blocker or privacy extension.
- Clear discovery+ app cache, or clear only discoveryplus.com cookies and cache in a browser.
- Sign out and back in, using a one-time code if available.
- Delete and reinstall the app if the error persists.
- Contact discovery+, your TV platform or your internet provider according to where the failure occurs.
These actions reflect discovery+ guidance for sign-in, connectivity, cache, updates and reinstallations: sign-in troubleshooting, connectivity troubleshooting, TV troubleshooting and reinstallation instructions.
First isolate the failing part
Test another device
Open discovery+ on another supported phone, computer, TV or streaming player. If it works there, focus on the original device, its app data or its platform integration. If it fails everywhere, repeated reinstalls are unlikely to help; investigate the account, provider activation or a service-side problem.
Test another network
Try a different Wi-Fi network or mobile data briefly. If discovery+ works on the second network, the account is probably usable and the original router, DNS filtering, Wi-Fi or ISP path needs investigation. If other apps and devices also fail, contact your internet provider.
Separate sign-in from playback
An error before authentication points toward credentials, cookies, device time or subscription activation. An error after successful sign-in points more toward app data, compatibility, network filtering or playback delivery.

Fix Error 400 on Android phones and tablets
- Open Settings and search for discovery+.
- Open the app’s settings, then choose Storage & cache or Storage (the label varies by manufacturer).
- Tap Clear cache, reopen discovery+ and test it.
If that does not work, force-stop the app, update it in Google Play, restart the device, and reinstall discovery+. Use Clear data only when necessary: it removes the local session and means you will sign in again. As a diagnostic, try mobile data or another Wi-Fi network. Official cache and sign-in guidance is at discovery+ support.
Fix Error 400 on iPhone or iPad
- Force-close discovery+ from the app switcher and reopen it.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Check the App Store for a discovery+ update and install any iOS or iPadOS update offered.
- Delete discovery+ and reinstall it from the App Store.
If Apple billed the subscription and the reinstated app does not recognize it, open discovery+, choose Sign In, choose Sign In again, then select Restore Purchase on the device used to subscribe. This restores an eligible Apple purchase; it does not create a second subscription. See the official sign-in instructions.
Fix Error 400 in Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari
Use a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge on Windows or Safari. The official browser guidance is at discovery+ browser troubleshooting.
- Close and reopen the browser, then sign in at your regional discovery+ website.
- Try another supported browser.
- Open a private or incognito window. If that works, an extension or stored site data is probably involved.
- Temporarily disable ad blockers, script or privacy extensions and VPN browser extensions.
- Clear cookies and cached files for discoveryplus.com only, then sign in again.
Do not erase every saved password or all browsing data unless necessary; clearing the discovery+ site data limits disruption to other websites.

Fix Error 400 on TVs and streaming devices
Menu names vary by model and regional software. These are the official paths where supplied by discovery+.
| Platform | What to do |
|---|---|
| Amazon Fire TV | Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > discovery+; choose Clear Cache, then Clear Data. Reopen and sign in. Also update Fire TV and discovery+, restart the device and router, and try Ethernet if available. |
| Android TV | Usually Settings > Apps > System Apps > discovery+; choose Clear Cache, then Clear Data. Restart the TV and router. Exact labels differ by Android TV version. |
| Samsung TV | On some models: Home > Settings > Support > Device Care > Manage Storage > discovery+, then clear cache and data. These options are not available on every Samsung model; reinstall if required. |
| Apple TV | Update discovery+ in the App Store. To reinstall, highlight the app, hold the clickpad or touch surface until it wobbles, press Play/Pause, choose Delete, then download it again. Restart Apple TV and the router. |
| Roku | Press Home > Streaming Channels, find discovery+, choose Remove channel, then add it again from the Channel Store. A Roku PIN may be required. |
| LG TV | Open Home > Apps > Edit App List, delete discovery+, then reinstall it from the LG app store. |
Use discovery+’s consolidated TV troubleshooting and reinstallation guide if your model presents different labels.
Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q
Sky Community users reported Error 400 on Sky Glass and Sky Stream in January and July 2024 even while other apps and internet functions worked. Those are customer reports and theories, not an official diagnosis: January report and July report.
- Restart the TV or puck, router and modem.
- Use any Sky app-refresh option exposed by the interface.
- Test discovery+ on an independent supported device and, if possible, another network.
- Contact Sky when the failure is limited to Sky hardware or a provider-bundled subscription.
- Contact discovery+ when the same account fails on independent supported devices.
Do not factory-reset first. Community reports describe cases where a reset helped only temporarily (report; additional report). A reset removes settings and can require sign-ins for other services, so reserve it for Sky’s instructed escalation path.

Network checks and interference
- Open another streaming app on the same device.
- Try discovery+ on another device using the same network.
- Move closer to the router, pause heavy downloads and use Ethernet where possible.
- Restart the modem and router.
- Disable VPNs, DNS-filtering services, network-wide ad blocking, browser ad blockers and privacy tools during testing.
These tools do not automatically cause Error 400, but they can interfere with authentication, location checks, cookies or service requests. discovery+ lists 5 Mbps minimum download speed for HD and recommends 50 Mbps or more for the best 4K experience; those are streaming recommendations, not a guaranteed Error 400 fix. See connectivity guidance and TV guidance.
When the problem is sign-in or subscription-related
Use a one-time code or reset the password
Confirm the email address, then choose get a code instead if offered. Look for the six-digit code in spam, junk and promotions folders. You can also reset the password at discoveryplus.com/forgot-password. Try another supported browser or device, clear discoveryplus.com cookies, and check that the device date and time are correct; an incorrect clock can invalidate authentication. Official guidance: provider and sign-in help and account troubleshooting.
Check who bills the subscription
Subscriptions purchased through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, a mobile operator, internet provider or TV provider may require activation or restoration through that company. Do not create a second subscription before checking the original billing route. Provider-bundled customers may need to activate discovery+ through the provider portal.

Supported devices and operating-system requirements vary by country. The regional compatibility page says discovery+ supports selected phones, tablets, browsers, TVs, streaming players and set-top boxes; certain mobile and Fire TV categories require the latest operating system or one of the two previous versions. Mobile web streaming on phones and tablets is not supported, so use the app. Check the current regional device list.

What the pattern tells you
- One device only: prioritize app cache or data, updates, compatibility and that device’s network settings.
- Every device on one household network: investigate router, DNS filtering, VPN, ISP or a service-side issue; test another network.
- All networks and devices: focus on account, provider activation or discovery+ support and check official support channels. A third-party checklist can provide an additional signal, but it is not proof of an outage: Binge Gauge’s Error 400 overview.
- Login only: check email, password or code, device clock, cookies, purchase restoration and provider activation.
- Playback after login: prioritize updates, cache, network stability, VPN or ad-blocking interference and device compatibility.
When to contact support
Contact discovery+ when the account fails across independent supported devices, or when sign-in and provider restoration steps do not work. Contact Sky, Roku, your TV manufacturer or another platform provider when the error is confined to that platform. Contact your ISP when multiple apps and devices have connectivity problems.
Include:
- Exact error wording and code
- Country or region and approximate date and time
- Device make, model and operating-system or firmware version
- discovery+ app version, if shown
- Whether other apps work
- Whether another device or network works
- Whether VPN, ad blocking or custom DNS was disabled
- Subscription billing method and provider
- A screenshot, if possible
Deleting the app does not cancel billing. Cancellation depends on who bills the account, and a subscription can continue renewing until it is canceled through that billing provider. See discovery+ cancellation guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is discovery+ Error 400 always an internet problem?
No. Other apps can work while discovery+ fails, so test another device and another network before deciding whether the fault is local, account-related or service-side.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Should I factory-reset Sky Glass or Sky Stream?
Not as a first step. Restart, refresh the app, test another device and contact Sky if the problem is limited to Sky hardware; a reset can remove settings and may only help temporarily.
Will reinstalling discovery+ cancel my subscription?
No. App deletion and subscription cancellation are separate. Cancel through the company that bills the subscription.
The Bottom Line
Use controlled tests rather than treating Error 400 as one diagnosis: compare devices and networks, refresh the app or browser session, remove VPN and ad-blocking interference, then follow the platform-specific reinstall or account-recovery steps. Escalate to discovery+, Sky or your ISP only after you know where the failure follows.
