No—BLACKPINK has not disbanded. As of October 1, 2026, YG Entertainment still represents Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa for BLACKPINK’s group activities. The members did not renew exclusive YG contracts for individual activities, so their solo careers are managed separately. The 2025–26 DEADLINE tour and 2026 mini album provide direct evidence that the four-member group remains active. YG has not publicly stated the group contract’s term or expiration date.
What BLACKPINK’s 2023 renewal actually covered
The key distinction is between group activities and individual activities. On December 6, 2023, YG announced that it had renewed an exclusive contract with all four members for BLACKPINK’s group work, saying it was based on “deep trust.”
On December 29, YG clarified that it had agreed not to extend contracts covering the members’ individual activities. That announcement did not cancel the group agreement; it separated the group relationship from solo management.

Why the solo-contract news caused confusion
In the Korean pop industry, an artist can use one company for group work and another for solo work. A group contract can govern albums, tours, appearances and branding performed as BLACKPINK, while separate agreements handle an individual member’s recordings, acting, fashion or other projects.
YG’s December 29 wording—“We have agreed not to extend our contracts regarding individual activities”—described the second category. It did not announce that Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa had ended their obligations to BLACKPINK. Reading the solo decision as a disbandment announcement conflates two different contracts.

Will BLACKPINK come back as four?
They already did for the documented DEADLINE cycle. YG announced the February 27, 2026 third mini album as a full-group return, and the DEADLINE tour was announced as a BLACKPINK tour rather than a solo project by any one member.
YG’s January 15 statement called the release the group’s first full-group album in three years. In the same rollout, the album was described as arriving approximately four years after BORN PINK; the difference reflects whether the interval is counted by calendar years or release timing. Neither description changes the central point: all four members participated in the announced return.

A later comeback beyond the DEADLINE activities is not guaranteed by the announcements reviewed. No public schedule establishes the next album, tour or promotion after this cycle.

That uncertainty should not be turned into a prediction. An absent expiry date is different from an announced termination: the available statements confirm the group contract but do not reveal when it ends.

How to interpret future announcements
- Look for the scope of the announcement. “Group activities” concerns BLACKPINK; “individual activities” concerns a member’s solo work.
- Check who issued it. YG statements and official BLACKPINK notices are stronger evidence of group scheduling than speculation about separate solo agencies.
- Separate confirmed activity from future plans. The DEADLINE album, tour dates and 2026 notices are documented events; a subsequent comeback date has not been announced.
- Do not infer an expiry date. Neither the term length nor the end date of the current group contract has been published.
