T-Mobile’s Free 2026 MLB.TV Offer Has Expired—Here’s What the Deal Included

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Status update: T-Mobile’s free MLB.TV promotion for the 2026 season was real, but it is no longer claimable. The redemption window ran from March 24, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. ET through March 31, 2026, at 4:59 a.m. ET. Eligible T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers who redeemed it received MLB.TV for the 2026 regular season without paying the separate subscription price.

What the 2026 promotion offered

T-Mobile described the benefit as a free 2026-season MLB.TV subscription with a stated regular value of $149.99. That figure is T-Mobile’s valuation for the promotion, not a permanent MLB retail price; MLB’s own purchase pages have shown different standard and promotional prices at different times.

The benefit was free only for eligible customers who claimed it during the offer period. It was tied to the qualifying wireless account and did not create a transferable, permanent MLB.TV entitlement.

See T-Mobile’s benefit terms at t-mobile.com/benefits/mlb and the official redemption terms at mlb.com/live-stream-games/tmo-disclaimer.

Who was eligible

Eligibility was determined by the wireless plan and account, not simply by having any T-Mobile-branded service.

  • T-Mobile customers on qualifying branded monthly-rate plans.
  • Metro by T-Mobile customers on qualifying plans.
  • Customers with access to T-Mobile Tuesdays and the associated in-app offer.

T-Mobile customers generally found the offer in the T-Life app, usually under Benefits. Metro customers generally used the myMetro app, usually under Tuesdays. App labels and placement can vary by account and app version.

How redemption worked when the window was open

Android and general app flow

  1. Open T-Life. Metro customers opened myMetro instead.
  2. Sign in with the phone number or account credentials associated with the eligible line.
  3. Find the MLB.TV tile. In T-Life, check Benefits; in myMetro, check Tuesdays.
  4. Tap SAVE, then REDEEM.
  5. Follow the dedicated link to MLB.com.
  6. Sign in to an existing MLB.com account or create one.
  7. Finish the confirmation flow, then choose WATCH NOW or sign in through the MLB app on a supported device.

T-Mobile’s instructions said the dedicated redemption page should not request payment from an eligible customer.

iPhone and iPad flow

  1. Install or update the MLB app to version 18.0 or later, as specified in T-Mobile’s 2026 instructions.
  2. Open T-Life and sign in. Metro customers used myMetro.
  3. Open the MLB.TV tile, normally through Benefits for T-Mobile or Tuesdays for Metro.
  4. Tap SAVE, then REDEEM.
  5. If prompted, update or install the MLB app and complete the MLB account confirmation.

Redemption and viewing were separate steps: a customer could claim the benefit on a phone and then watch on supported connected devices by signing in to the same MLB account. A compatible device was required, and mobile data charges could still apply.

What MLB.TV included

MLB.TV was primarily an out-of-market package. MLB’s package description included:

  • Live and on-demand out-of-market MLB games.
  • Live audio for all MLB teams.
  • MLB Big Inning.
  • Live Minor League Baseball games.
  • MLB Network programming in the United States.
  • Enhanced MLB app tools such as linescores, in-game scoreboards, real-time data and multiview.

Feature availability can differ by platform and territory. Premium MLB app features were included at no additional charge for customers who redeemed the T-Mobile promotion, but additional in-app purchases were not included.

The blackout warning matters

MLB.TV did not remove blackout rules. MLB uses geography, including the viewer’s physical location and available location signals such as an IP address, to determine restrictions. A team’s live game may be unavailable inside that team’s designated home television territory, and national exclusivity rules can also block a broadcast.

  • Out-of-market games: These were the main purpose of MLB.TV and were generally available subject to restrictions.
  • In-market games: A local team may be blacked out live.
  • Blackout games: Some may become available after an applicable delay, but the exact timing depends on MLB’s current rules and the game’s territory.
  • Nationally exclusive games: These can be unavailable through MLB.TV even when the viewer is outside a team’s local market.

Check the current package and blackout information at mlb.com/tv. The promotion should never be described as access to every MLB game live without the qualification “subject to blackout and other restrictions.”

If the MLB.TV tile was missing

While the offer was active, a missing tile could indicate an ineligible plan, the wrong account login, an outdated app, an already-redeemed benefit or an incorrect app section. The following checks were reasonable:

  1. Confirm that the signed-in phone number and account are the eligible ones.
  2. Update T-Life or myMetro and the MLB app.
  3. Sign out, then sign back in.
  4. Check Benefits in T-Life and Tuesdays in myMetro.
  5. Verify that the redemption deadline had not passed.
  6. Contact T-Mobile or Metro support if the account appeared eligible but the offer remained absent.

For the 2026 promotion, none of those steps could restore access after March 31, 2026, because the offer had expired.

Common problems and what they meant

The redemption page requested payment

That was a warning sign for this promotion. The customer should have stopped, returned to the T-Life or myMetro offer tile and used its dedicated MLB.com link rather than a generic MLB.TV purchase page. T-Mobile’s instructions said eligible redeemers would not be asked to pay.

A local team could not be viewed

That usually indicated a blackout rather than a failed redemption. The viewer needed to check MLB’s blackout lookup and local broadcast options.

The customer already paid for MLB.TV

The published terms did not establish a universal refund, extension or account-merging policy for existing paid subscriptions. Anyone in that situation needed to verify the treatment directly with MLB support rather than assume the promotional entitlement would replace or extend the paid one.

The customer changed carriers

Account sharing was prohibited, and the terms did not promise a transferable benefit for use on another carrier’s wireless devices. Redeeming while on T-Mobile or Metro did not guarantee a permanently portable subscription.

What to use after the promotion ended

Paid MLB.TV

MLB’s official package remains the most direct option for fans who live outside their favorite team’s local market. Pricing has changed by page and promotion, with official 2026 pages showing figures including $139.99 and $149.99 per season at different times, so verify the amount at mlb.com/tv before checkout. Paid seasonal subscriptions may auto-renew around the next season’s renewal date; review the current checkout terms and cancel before the renewal date if necessary.

ESPN distribution

MLB.TV became available through MLB and ESPN platforms in 2026. MLB said new MLB.TV customers might receive a one-month ESPN Unlimited trial, but ESPN Unlimited was not required to continue MLB.TV. The services should not be treated as interchangeable. Details are at MLB’s 2026 MLB.TV and ESPN FAQ.

MLB+

MLB+ is a less expensive, audio-focused option. MLB’s 2026 presentation showed $59.99 per year at one point and described live audio for all 30 teams, MLB Network access, selected live games, Minor League Baseball content, MLB Big Inning and Gameday 3D. It is not the full MLB.TV live out-of-market game package.

T-Mobile or Metro benefits in a future season

T-Mobile and Metro may run similar seasonal promotions, but dates, qualifying plans, value and eligibility can change. The 2026 offer is not evidence that a new offer is currently active. Check T-Mobile’s benefits page for a current announcement before changing wireless service.

Who benefited most

  • Fans living outside their favorite team’s local television market.
  • Customers already paying for an eligible T-Mobile or Metro plan.
  • Viewers who wanted full-season out-of-market coverage plus audio, Minor League Baseball and app features.

It was less useful for fans who mainly follow a local team, need nationally exclusive games, require unrestricted geographic access or would pay more in wireless costs than a standalone streaming subscription.

Bottom line on the 2026 deal

The promotion was a strong seasonal perk for eligible out-of-market fans, but it was not a universal “watch every game” pass and it was not a reason by itself to switch carriers. The 2026 claim period is closed; readers deciding what to buy now should compare MLB.TV, MLB+ and ESPN distribution while checking current prices and blackout rules.
