It adds the Shibuya Station story, the Shibuya Massacre Legendary Stage, 13 collectible units, a ten-element combat system, weekly tournaments, new shops and stat tools, a level-cap increase to 60, and a redesigned Nightmare-only Paragon mode.
What Update 1 added
Update 1 expands nearly every part of Anime Vanguards: story progression, unit collection, combat effects, competitive play, inventory management and endgame rewards. The largest additions are Shibuya Station, elemental affinities and weekly tournaments, while the revised Paragon rules and new stat systems give experienced players longer-term goals.
New story content
Shibuya Station
Shibuya Station is the new story stage. Clearing it advances the Update 1 campaign and provides access to its associated farming and progression systems.
Shibuya Massacre
Shibuya Massacre is the update’s new Legendary Stage. It is separate from the standard story progression and is the key source of Cursed Fingers in Infinite Mode.

The 13 new units and how to obtain them
Update 1 adds 13 units spread across normal rarity, exclusive content, the Battle Pass, tournaments and the leaderboard. Their acquisition route matters because not all of them come from ordinary banners.

Unit abilities can also change their behavior: some abilities cycle between buffs, while others switch positions with another unit. That makes ability timing and placement part of the unit’s value rather than a fixed, one-state effect.
How the ten elements work
Update 1 gives units elemental identities. Each element supplies a specific immunity, damage modifier, debuff interaction, critical-rate bonus or dodge effect. Enemies can also have elemental weaknesses, so matching an element to a stage’s enemies can matter as much as a unit’s base rarity.

| Cosmic | Deals 10% more damage when placed | Immediate deployment impact |
| Passion | Raises dodge chance by 10% | Survivability through evasion |
These effects are not interchangeable. Fire, Water, Nature and Spark prevent particular debuffs; Holy limits how long debuffs last; Curse, Unbound, Blast and Cosmic improve offensive output in different circumstances; and Passion improves the chance to avoid incoming damage. Check the enemy’s weakness before committing a team to a difficult stage.

How the brackets work
Players are assigned to tournament brackets and ranked by damage. The selected map, additional damage modifiers and special mechanics determine the conditions for that week’s contest.

Traitless and Trait Enabled competitions
Traitless and Trait Enabled tournaments run at the same time. Traitless play removes trait advantages from the comparison, while Trait Enabled play allows them, giving players two different competitive targets rather than one universal leaderboard.
Rewards
Tournament rewards can include secret units, gems and crystals. Mechamar and Mohato are identified as tournament-exclusive units. The developers described the system this way: “Every week, players will compete against each other on the selected map for exclusive rewards.”
Because the map and modifiers change the scoring environment, a unit that dominates one week is not automatically the best choice for the next bracket. Competitive teams should be built around that week’s map rules, damage conditions and whether the chosen event is Traitless or Trait Enabled.

New shops and progression resources
Cursed Shop
Cursed Fingers are rare drops from Shibuya Station Infinite Mode. You can exchange them in the Cursed Shop, tying the new story content directly to a dedicated currency and shop.

Gold Shop
The Gold Shop refreshes its stock daily. Its listed items include Essence Stones, Stat Chips and Unit Experience Food, so checking the shop each day can turn excess gold into upgrade materials and experience.
Level cap and inventory expansion
The unit level cap rises from 50 to 60. Unit inventory expansions cost 25,000 gold for the first purchase, increase by 15,000 gold for each subsequent purchase, are available up to three times and add 25 slots per purchase.

Stat Index, Stat Transfer and unit achievements
Stat Index
Stat Index shows the upper and lower limits for a unit’s DMG, SPA and RNG tiers. It is a reference for judging whether a unit’s current stat rolls are near the available floor or ceiling.

Stat Transfer
Stat Transfer guarantees that the selected stats move to the host unit, but the host’s level, trait and other stats reset. The operation also costs gold, so it is a deliberate rebuild rather than a free optimization.
Unit achievements
Unit-specific achievements award resources and banners. Some future evolutions require quest completion, making achievement progress part of the preparation for later upgrades rather than a purely cosmetic checklist.

Nightmare-only access
Paragon is available only in Nightmare difficulty. It is designed as an escalating challenge layered onto the hardest standard setting.
Starting cards and additive cards
At the beginning of a Paragon run, choose one starting card and then select additive cards. Starting cards do not stack with one another; additive cards do stack. This distinction makes the first choice a foundation for the run and later cards cumulative modifiers.
Paragon rewards

The reward track adds both immediate currency scaling and periodic upgrade materials, so surviving additional Paragon levels improves future runs as well as the current clear.

Interface, leaderboard and balance updates
- The leaderboard interface was reworked.
- Profiles now display a player’s level and title.
- Evolving units can increase their stat tiers.
- The Rainbow Stat Chip challenge was removed.
- Super Stat Chips were added.
- Additional bug fixes and balance changes were included throughout the update.
Together, these changes make progression information easier to read and shift stat optimization toward the new chip, achievement and transfer systems.
What Update 1 means for different players
If you are progressing through story mode
Start with Shibuya Station, raise units toward the new level cap and use the Gold Shop’s daily stock to build experience and stat materials. Infinite Mode in Shibuya Station is also the route for farming Cursed Fingers.
If you are optimizing a roster
Use Stat Index to evaluate DMG, SPA and RNG tiers before spending gold on Stat Transfer. Remember that transferring stats resets the host’s level, trait and other stats.
If you are playing competitively
Follow the weekly map and modifiers, then choose between Traitless and Trait Enabled brackets. Tournament placement is damage-based, and exclusive units and other rewards are tied to that competition.
If you are pushing endgame difficulty
Paragon requires Nightmare difficulty. Plan the non-stacking starting card first, then build around additive cards to exploit their cumulative effects while pursuing Stat Chips, Super Stat Chips, Trait Rerolls and increased gold and gem rewards.
Bottom line
Anime Vanguards Update 1 is more than a new story chapter. Shibuya Station and 13 units expand the collection, elemental weaknesses add team-building decisions, tournaments create a recurring competitive loop, and the level, stat and Paragon changes give veteran players new progression targets. The result is an update that affects how players acquire units, build teams, farm resources and measure endgame performance.
