A Merry Little Ex-Mas — November 12
Netflix’s first major 2025 holiday release in this group stars Alicia Silverstone as Kate, a recently divorced woman trying to stage one last picture-perfect family Christmas before selling her house. Her former husband’s new girlfriend complicates the plan, making this a natural pick for viewers who prefer family friction and relationship comedy over a purely sentimental story.

Champagne Problems — November 19
An executive travels to France to acquire a champagne brand before Christmas and falls for the founder’s son. The business deadline, romantic tension and French setting make it the clearest choice here for a conventional holiday rom-com evening.
Jingle Bell Heist — November 29
Two down-on-their-luck hourly workers team up to rob a posh London department store on Christmas Eve, and the scheme becomes romantic. Choose it when you want a caper structure rather than a domestic family plot. Its Christmas Eve setting also makes it especially suited to a late-season watch.

My Secret Santa — December 3
Alexandra Breckenridge plays a single mother who disguises herself as a man to get work as a ski-resort Santa. She then develops feelings for the hotel manager. The ski setting, secret identity and workplace romance give it a different hook from Netflix’s earlier November premieres.
New Christmas movies on Prime Video
Oh. What. Fun. — listed for December 2
Michelle Pfeiffer leads this Amazon Original holiday comedy as Claire Clauster, a mother who leaves family chaos behind for an unexpected Christmas adventure. Amazon describes the film as streaming exclusively on Prime Video. It is the strongest Prime Video choice in this lineup for a lighter family-oriented comedy, although parents should still check the current rating and local listing before a group watch.
Rank #2
Merv — December 10
Amazon’s December 2025 schedule lists Merv as a Prime Video title on December 10. The schedule does not establish a fuller premise here, so use the in-app description to decide whether it suits your household and to confirm that it remains available in your country.
Which 2025 holiday movie should you choose?
For a family Christmas watch
Start with Oh. What. Fun. if you want a family-adventure comedy led by Michelle Pfeiffer. A Merry Little Ex-Mas is the better fit when the group enjoys stories about divorced parents, blended relationships and awkward family gatherings.
For a romantic-comedy night
Champagne Problems offers the most straightforward business-meets-romance setup. Pick My Secret Santa for a ski-resort setting and a disguise-driven premise, or Jingle Bell Heist if you would rather have romance wrapped around a Christmas Eve robbery.
For a lighter caper
Jingle Bell Heist is the obvious choice: its central hook is a department-store robbery, not a family reconciliation or corporate acquisition.
Rank #4
- The Herdmans are absolutely the worst kids in the world. They lie, steal & bully?and now they?ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time, but she and her family are in over their heads, especially against a town that wants the Herdmans out. But the play?s mischievous stars might just teach the town the true meaning of Christmas.
Release timing and availability
Netflix’s documented launches run from November 12 through December 3, giving viewers a steady sequence of new titles before Christmas. Prime Video’s listed dates fall in December, with Oh. What. Fun. on December 2 and Merv on December 10 in Amazon’s schedule.
A 2025 premiere date does not guarantee that a film is still included with your subscription in 2026. Catalog rights can differ by country, and a title may move between included streaming, rental or purchase options. Search the exact film title in the Netflix or Prime Video app, check which account tier is required, and verify playback in your territory before inviting a group to watch.
