Yes. Eric and Terry Murray confirmed in a statement released through the PGA TOUR on May 26, 2024, that their son, professional golfer Grayson Murray, died by suicide. Murray was 30. His parents asked for privacy and urged people to honor him by being kind to one another.
What Grayson Murray’s parents confirmed
The confirmation came from Eric and Terry Murray, not from the PGA TOUR’s initial announcement of their son’s death. In their May 26 statement, the parents wrote: “Life wasn’t always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now.” They added that he was loved and would be missed, and asked the public to respect their privacy.
The family also wrote: “Please respect our privacy as we work through this incredible tragedy, and please honor Grayson by being kind to one another.” The statement does not disclose private circumstances, a motive, or medical details, and none should be inferred.
