Google launched its interactive Halloween 2024 Doodle on October 30, 2024, according to the official Google Doodle archive. It was Magic Cat Academy 3, a browser game starring Momo the cat as she flies through Earth’s atmosphere on a broomstick and battles ghosts by drawing symbols. The homepage appearance was temporary, but the archived game remains the correct official place to try it.
What was Google’s Halloween 2024 Doodle?
This was a playable game rather than a static Halloween logo. Google’s archive identifies it as the third Magic Cat Academy adventure. Momo and her friends prepare for a flight into the skies, where she encounters spectral enemies and her recurring adversary, Marshmallow.
The visual style mixes Halloween and space imagery: a black cat on a broomstick, an astronaut-style helmet, ghosts, bats, spiders, red sprites and stars. Google describes Momo’s journey through the atmosphere; contemporary coverage from Space.com framed her as an astronaut cat.
When did it launch?
Google’s archive records the launch date as October 30, 2024, one day before Halloween. Some news reports were published on October 31, which accounts for the date confusion. Space.com reported that the Doodle appeared on Google’s homepage for approximately 48 hours; that was contemporary reporting about this event, not a permanent Google availability policy.

How to play the Halloween 2024 Doodle
- Open the official Halloween 2024 archive page.
- Select Play in the embedded Doodle.
- Watch the introduction and tutorial, or skip them if the game presents that option.
- When an enemy appears, draw the symbol shown above it using a mouse, trackpad, touchscreen or equivalent pointer input.
- Repeat the gesture for each approaching enemy and continue through the increasingly demanding encounters.
Reported symbols include dashes, chevrons or carets, swirls and lightning-bolt shapes. Enemies move faster and arrive in larger groups as play progresses, so quick, accurate gestures matter. Contemporary instructions from Cinco Días described playing on both phones and computers. A mouse or trackpad may feel easier for deliberate drawing than a small touchscreen, but Google does not publish a formal device-by-device comparison.
What happens in Magic Cat Academy 3?
An atmospheric journey
The 2024 episode moves the series out of familiar classrooms and oceans and into the sky. Momo rides upward through different atmospheric layers while defending herself against supernatural creatures.

Escalating encounters
The core loop stays simple: identify the mark above an enemy, reproduce it, and remove that enemy before it reaches Momo. Increasing speed and crowd size turn the early tutorial mechanic into a reaction-and-precision challenge.
Spoiler: the final challenge
Space.com reported that the game reaches a fifth level where Marshmallow grows into a demonic sun. After the confrontation, Momo receives candy. Google’s archive confirms Marshmallow’s role but does not provide a complete level-by-level walkthrough, so the ending details here are attributed to that contemporary gameplay report.

Behind the Doodle
Google’s archive includes concept art and credits for the artists, engineers, music and sound designers, marketing staff and Doodle team leads involved in the project. Those materials provide additional production context without changing the central fact: this was a playable Halloween game built around Momo’s third atmospheric adventure.
