No: Roku’s $2.99-per-month Howdy subscription does not include full Disney+ or HBO Max. Howdy is a separate, ad-free Roku streaming service with selected licensed programming, including titles from Disney Entertainment and Sony Pictures. HBO Max is available separately through Roku’s Premium Subscriptions marketplace. The distinction matters: studio content licensing is not the same as bundling a studio’s streaming service.
What Roku’s $2.99 service is
Howdy is Roku’s ad-free subscription video-on-demand service. Roku launched it in the United States in August 2025 at $2.99 per month. It is a Roku-owned offering associated with The Roku Channel, but it is separate from both the free, ad-supported Roku Channel and the third-party services offered through Roku Premium Subscriptions. Roku’s 2025 Form 10-K describes Howdy as an owned-and-operated service; Roku’s subscription support page lists its price and signup information.
Roku support lists Howdy on Roku streaming devices and TVs, Howdy.tv, the Howdy mobile app, and the Roku mobile app. TechCrunch reported in March 2026 that Howdy also launched on Prime Video, an expansion beyond Roku’s own platforms. Availability can depend on country and platform.

Howdy’s catalogue has also been described as including programming from Warner Bros. and Lionsgate. These are licensing relationships, not promises that every title from those companies is available. Streaming catalogues change, so check Howdy’s current listings for a particular film or show before subscribing.

At launch and during early expansion, Howdy was described as offering more than or nearly 10,000 hours of programming. TVTechnology’s launch coverage and the later TechCrunch report provide those launch-era descriptions; they are not a guarantee of the current catalogue’s size.
Howdy and Roku Premium Subscriptions are different products
Roku Premium Subscriptions is a marketplace and billing option for third-party streaming services. Roku advertises access to more than 60 services, though selection varies by market. Eligible subscriptions can be managed through a Roku account, but service pricing, trials, viewing features, and billing arrangements depend on the provider and country. Roku’s Premium Subscriptions page lists available offers, while its support article explains subscribing through Roku.

That marketplace is where HBO Max fits. Disney+ can also be subscribed to through Roku in supported markets, or directly from Disney. Neither arrangement makes those services part of Howdy. A Roku device can bring several subscriptions together in one viewing environment, but that does not turn them into one package or one price.

What Roku said about future additions
In its Q4 2025 shareholder letter, Roku said Premium Subscriptions had a strong quarter, cited the successful addition of HBO Max, and said it expected to add more “tier-one” partners in 2026. The letter separately described plans to add entertainment to Howdy and expand it to more platforms. It did not name Disney+ or Sony as confirmed future Premium Subscription additions, nor announce that HBO Max programming would be folded into Howdy.

Howdy may suit a budget-conscious viewer who wants a supplemental library and is comfortable with a changing selection. It is a weaker fit if the main reason for subscribing is a specific studio’s newest releases, originals, a full catalogue, or service-specific features such as particular video and audio tiers. Check any existing wireless, broadband, cable, or other bundle before paying for another subscription.

- Sign in to a Roku account or create one, then choose the $2.99-per-month subscription and review its billing terms before confirming.
- If you subscribed through Roku, check my.roku.com/subscriptions to manage it. If you subscribed through another provider or platform, use that account’s subscription controls.
If you need to verify a charge, Roku’s purchase-history support page explains how to review Roku purchases. Billing ownership matters: cancel with the company that bills the subscription, not simply through the device where you watch it.
