The lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs describe allegations of rape, sexual assault, drugging, physical violence, coercion, sex trafficking and abuse involving a minor. Those claims come from civil complaints and news reports about them; a complaint is not proof, and filing a case is not a court finding that the alleged conduct occurred.
The federal criminal prosecution was a separate proceeding. Its indictment also contained allegations, while the civil cases have followed different paths, including a settlement, procedural dismissals and continuing litigation. The examples below are representative rather than a complete count of every lawsuit or plaintiff.
What allegations appear in the lawsuits?
Across the complaints described by the reviewed court records and reporting, plaintiffs have alleged several broad categories of conduct:
- Rape and other sexual assault.
- Drugging and forced sexual acts.
- Physical abuse and battery.
- Coercion and sex trafficking.
- Gender discrimination and related workplace or business misconduct.
- Abuse of a minor, including an allegation concerning a 16-year-old boy.
These descriptions are allegations attributed to plaintiffs or to the complaints summarized by journalists. Sean Combs has denied the allegations reported in connection with the anonymous October 2024 complaints.

Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit: rape, physical abuse and alleged sexual slavery
Reuters’ September 11, 2024 report on Dawn Richard’s filing summarized an earlier lawsuit by Cassie Ventura. According to that report, Ventura’s complaint alleged serial physical abuse, rape and sexual slavery by Combs.
Ventura’s case settled one day after it was filed. A settlement ends the particular dispute under the parties’ agreement; it does not by itself establish that the allegations were true or false, and it should not be treated as a trial verdict.
Dawn Richard’s lawsuit and the 2026 timeliness ruling
Singer Dawn Richard filed a September 2024 lawsuit accusing Combs and label-related defendants of sexual assault and battery, sex trafficking, gender discrimination and fraud, Reuters reported.

In June 2026, the Associated Press reported that a federal judge dismissed most of Richard’s claims as untimely and said one allegation could be refiled in state court. AP emphasized that the ruling was not based on a determination that Richard’s factual allegations were false. In the judge’s formulation, the limitations ruling existed independently of any “disapprobation of the factual allegations,” which, if true, would be “execrable.”
Thus, “dismissed as untimely” describes a procedural ruling about when claims were brought, not a finding that the alleged events did not happen.
Anonymous plaintiffs’ October 2024 complaints
On October 14, 2024, the Associated Press reported on at least six complaints filed that month by anonymous plaintiffs. The allegations included rape, sexual assault, forced oral sex, drugging and abuse of a 16-year-old boy, among other claims.

The plaintiffs were reported under pseudonyms. Their identities should not be inferred from public speculation, and the existence of the complaints does not prove their factual assertions. AP reported that Combs denied the allegations.
Other civil complaints in federal court
Rodney Jones
A March 24, 2025 opinion from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York sets out allegations in Rodney Jones’s complaint and addresses the claims and motions before the court. The opinion is a record of the litigation and the court’s procedural analysis; it is not independent proof that disputed allegations occurred.
Doe v. Combs
A March 6, 2025 Southern District of New York memorandum and order records allegations in a complaint filed under a Doe designation and describes the related proceedings. Because the plaintiff is anonymous and the assertions remain contested, the order’s existence should not be read as a factual finding.

The separate federal criminal case
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced in September 2024 that Combs had been charged in a three-count indictment with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
DOJ expressly warned readers not to treat the indictment as established fact: “As the introductory phrase signifies, the entirety of the text of the Indictment, and the description of the Indictment set forth herein, constitutes only allegations, and every fact described therein should be treated as an allegation.”

DOJ issued a statement on the criminal verdict on July 1, 2025. The latest directly reviewed appellate report, published by AP on April 9, 2026, said the Second Circuit had heard argument on Combs’s sentence challenge and had not immediately ruled. A later result was not verified in the materials available for this overview, so the appeal’s status after that report should not be assumed.
How to read claims, dismissals and settlements
- Allegation: A plaintiff’s account in a complaint or an accusation summarized by a source. It remains contested unless established through the legal process.
- Denial: Combs’s response to particular allegations; a denial is not itself a judicial finding.
- Settlement: An agreement resolving a case, usually without a trial verdict on the underlying facts.
- Procedural dismissal: A case or claim ended for a legal reason such as timeliness. It is not necessarily a ruling on whether the alleged conduct occurred.
- Merits decision or criminal verdict: A court or jury determination in that proceeding. Even then, the result applies to the charges or claims actually decided, not automatically to every other lawsuit.
What this overview can and cannot establish
The selected cases show the range of allegations publicly described against Combs, including sexual violence, coercion, drugging, physical abuse and a claim involving a minor. They do not provide a reliable census of all plaintiffs, lawsuits or alleged incidents pending on September 28, 2026. The AP figure of at least six complaints refers to a particular October 2024 filing wave, not a total for all litigation.
For any individual case, the legally important questions are who filed it (or whether the plaintiff is anonymous), what the complaint actually alleges, which court is handling it, what response was reported, and whether the latest action was a settlement, a merits ruling or a procedural decision.
