Some JioHotstar users have reported downloads stopping before completion, but a broad Disney+ Hotstar outage or official acknowledgment of one has not been verified. Disney+’s official help page documents common download problems and troubleshooting, but it is not an incident notice for every Hotstar market. Check your app, country, plan, device and the affected title before treating a missing button or failed download as a service outage.
What users are reporting
Reports describe different failure modes, including downloads stopping at roughly 6–7% on JioHotstar and an iPad showing “Download Failed” on Disney+. One JioHotstar user later said downloads were working again, but that does not establish why they failed or whether the service-wide issue was resolved. These are individual reports, not outage measurements.
Symptoms worth distinguishing include a missing Download button, a tap that does nothing, a stuck queue or progress bar, an error, a completed download that disappears, or a title that is downloaded but will not play offline. Streaming working while downloads fail is also useful information to give support.

No dated company statement specifically acknowledging a broad Disney+ Hotstar download outage was verified. Disney+ has an official troubleshooting page for download issues, but general support guidance is not confirmation of a live incident. User reports show that some people have had trouble; they do not prove how widespread it is, identify the cause, or confirm a resolution.

The services and rules are not identical in every country: Disney+, Disney+ Hotstar and JioHotstar branding, plans and support paths vary by market. The reports cited here include JioHotstar and Disney+ users, and should not be read as evidence that every region is affected. First check whether your account, device and title support downloads
Confirm the app and plan
Check which service is on your device, the account’s country or region, whether the subscription is active, and whether that market’s plan includes offline downloads. Under Disney+’s current U.S. help guidance, downloads are limited to listed eligible premium plans; ad-supported plans and some non-premium bundles do not support them. A plan change to one without download support can remove access to existing downloads. Do not assume those U.S. rules apply to JioHotstar or another regional service. Use a supported mobile device
Disney+ says downloads are unavailable on TV-connected devices, computers and Windows 10 or Windows 11 tablets. Its download feature is intended for supported mobile phones and tablets. A missing button on a television or computer may therefore reflect a product limitation, not an outage. Device support can differ by service and market.

Test more than one title
A missing Download button may mean a particular title is not licensed for offline viewing. If the button appears but downloading errors, the title may be temporarily unavailable. Try another episode and an unrelated movie. If only one title fails while others download, a title-specific availability or rights issue is more plausible than a general download outage.
Try these steps in order

Check storage and connection. Make sure the device has free space. Try a stable Wi-Fi connection; if appropriate for your data plan, compare with mobile data. Move closer to the router and pause other large downloads or streams. Disney+ identifies weak connectivity, storage and interruptions as possible causes; it does not specify a universal minimum speed in the cited guidance.

Keep the download from being interrupted. If it pauses, keep the app open while testing. On some Android phones, battery optimization may interrupt background activity. One JioHotstar user reported that allowing unrestricted battery use and locking the app in recent apps appeared to help, but could not tell whether the change or a server-side recovery made the difference. Treat this only as an Android device-level possibility, not an official fix.

Force-close and reopen the app, then restart the device. Retry one affected title and note the result.

Update the app through the device’s official app store, then try again.

Delete only the failed download and retry. Disney+’s troubleshooting sequence includes deleting a failed download before downloading it again. Avoid removing other offline titles unless necessary.

Compare across titles, networks or supported devices. Record what works and what fails; this helps distinguish a title, device, connection or account issue from a broader service problem.
When the pattern points to a service-side problem
A platform-side issue becomes more plausible when unrelated titles fail on more than one supported device, especially if the same account and network otherwise work and downloads later resume without a device or account change. Reports from many users at about the same time add context, but do not substitute for an official incident notice. The reported JioHotstar progress failures followed by recovery are consistent with a temporary service-side problem, but do not prove one.

- Every title lacks a button: check plan eligibility and device support first.
- One title fails: test other content; title availability or licensing may be involved.
- Multiple titles fail across supported devices: preserve the error details and contact the service if basic checks do not help.
Why existing Disney+ downloads can disappear
The following conditions come from Disney+’s official guidance and should not be assumed to apply to every Hotstar market. Logging out can delete downloads from the device. Disney+ says the device must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days; a title may expire sooner if it leaves the streaming library. Downloads are available only on the device where they were saved. Cancelling a subscription or changing to a plan without download support can also remove access. Check the Disney+ download help page for the service’s current terms.

When to contact support
If the same failure persists after checking eligibility, storage, connection and app updates—or affects multiple titles and supported devices—contact the official support channel for the service and region shown in your app. Include:
- Country and exact service/app name.
- Device model, operating-system version and app version.
- Subscription tier.
- Title and episode, plus whether other titles download.
- The exact error message or the percentage where progress stops.
- Whether streaming works, and whether you tested another network or supported device.
- Date and approximate time of the failure.
Do not start by logging out, clearing app data or uninstalling: those steps may remove offline content, and Disney+ explicitly says logging out can delete downloads. Avoid unofficial download tools; they can introduce account-security, malware, copyright, DRM and terms-of-service risks without repairing the service’s own download feature.
