IWC’s F1: The Movie collection is four watches, not one: a green Ingenieur Automatic 40 inspired by Sonny Hayes’s bespoke prop, a gold Pilot’s Watch chronograph worn by Joshua Pearce, and two steel chronographs dedicated to the fictional APXGP team. The models were announced on 1 April 2025 at Watches and Wonders Geneva.
Which IWC watches are connected to F1: The Movie?
IWC’s announcement distinguishes between a watch inspired by a character’s prop, one it says is worn by a character, and two models dedicated to the film’s fictional racing team. Those descriptions come from IWC; they should not be read as independent verification of the production’s costume or prop details.

The screen prop associated with Sonny Hayes is a bespoke watch based on IWC’s vintage Ingenieur SL, reference 1832. IWC says it was made in collaboration with Cloister Watch Company, a studio specializing in bespoke timepieces from vintage watches.

The commercial green Ingenieur Automatic 40, IW328908, is inspired by that prop; it is not the same watch. IWC’s announcement describes the limited edition as “inspired from the bespoke watch worn by the main character Sonny Hayes in the movie.” Its Grid-patterned green dial, stainless-steel case and bracelet, and gold-plated appliques distinguish the retail model. IWC lists a 32111 calibre, a stated 120-hour power reserve, 10-bar water resistance and a soft-iron inner case for magnetic-field shielding. The edition is limited to 1,000 pieces, according to IWC.
How do the three IWC chronographs differ?
IW388309: the gold Performance Chronograph
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 is the character-linked option: IWC says Damson Idris’s Joshua Pearce wears it. Its case, pushers and crown are 18-carat 5N gold, paired with a black lacquer dial, black ceramic tachymeter bezel and black rubber EasX-CHANGE strap. It is a separate design from the steel APXGP team watches.

IW378009 and IW388116: the APXGP pair
Both APXGP chronographs use stainless steel and the team’s black, white and gold visual scheme. The IW378009 is 43 mm; the IW388116 is 41 mm. The larger model’s black dial has white numerals and gold minute markers, while both have a gold APXGP logo on the caseback. IWC lists both with laser-engraved EasX-CHANGE rubber straps and 10-bar water resistance.

Shared chronograph movement details
IWC specifies its 69385 calibre for the three chronographs. It is a mechanical column-wheel chronograph movement with bidirectional pawl winding and a stated 46-hour power reserve; IWC says it can measure stop times up to 12 hours. The EasX-CHANGE system is designed to let the wearer change straps without tools.

When was the collection announced, and when did the film open?
IWC announced the watches at Watches and Wonders Geneva on 1 April 2025. The brand’s press release describes F1: The Movie as an Apple Original Films production directed by Joseph Kosinski and distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. It records the U.S. theatrical and IMAX release as 27 June 2025, with international openings beginning 25 June 2025. Those are historical theatrical dates; they do not establish where the film is streaming now.
