Swag On The Beat is an Australian sketch-comedy group made up of Jack Say, Sam Zito and Isaac Gibbons. They began posting videos in 2020 for fun, then built a career across short-form video, brand partnerships, live comedy, podcasting and merchandise. Their story is more than one viral clip: it is an example of how a recognisable comic format and several income channels can turn internet attention into a working entertainment business.
Who are Swag On The Beat?
Swag On The Beat is a Melbourne-based comedy trio, not an anonymous TikTok account. The original members are Jack Say, Sam Zito and Isaac Gibbons, whose friendship and shared performance style drive the sketches. A PerthNow profile published on July 11, 2023 identified the three creators and documented their move into full-time comedy.
The name still covers a broader Swag brand. Current podcast listings present Jack and Isaac as the hosts, so that project-specific format should not be read as confirmation that Sam has permanently left the group or that every current Swag production is made by only two people.

How the group started
The friends started making videos in 2020, initially to entertain themselves. Their first major breakthrough came from a simple premise: three people reaching for the same item in a supermarket. They did not immediately realise how well the clip was performing. When they checked it roughly a month after posting, they found that it had taken off.

That was a delayed discovery rather than a literal overnight career. The trio had reportedly been making videos since they were teenagers, giving them years of practice with timing, characters and camera performance before the supermarket sketch became widely shared. During the period covered by PerthNow, individual videos reached up to 12.9 million views—a historical peak, not a current average or guarantee.
What their comedy feels like
The formula starts with something recognisable and then pushes it somewhere unexpectedly strange. The official Swag On The Beat description uses “funny”, “absurd” and “punchy”; those words capture the combination of everyday situations, sudden escalation and deliberately awkward characters.
- Relatable setup: a social interaction, errand or minor decision the audience understands immediately.
- Fast escalation: the premise changes direction before it becomes predictable.
- Character chemistry: the humour depends on the performers reacting to one another, not just on a written punchline.
- Short-form rhythm: quick beats and a clear payoff suit mobile viewing while leaving room for an identifiable Swag tone.
The approach makes the clips accessible without making them conventional. Australian references and familiar behaviour provide the entry point; absurdity supplies the surprise.

Why they left regular employment
By 2023, the trio had left outside employment to work on Swag On The Beat full time. Their pre-comedy backgrounds were varied:

The decision followed sustained audience traction and expanding opportunities rather than one impulsive resignation. Available reporting does not establish that all three resigned on the same date, nor does it disclose their income, savings or business structure. “Full-time creator” also does not mean they were paid only by TikTok: their work expanded across several formats and clients.
How online attention became a business
A creator career becomes less dependent on any single platform when the same audience can support different products and experiences. A Region Canberra profile from June 2023 reported more than two million combined followers across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook at that time. That is a dated snapshot, not a reliable 2026 total.

From short clips to a live show
The 2023 stage production tested whether a style designed for a phone screen could sustain a room. It combined sketches, prose, audience interaction and a longer narrative. The performers described the stage as a chance to develop jokes and add depth while preserving the quick rhythm associated with their online work.
That transition requires different skills. A short video can cut directly to its payoff; a live show needs entrances, transitions, pacing across an evening and ways to respond to an audience in real time. Swag’s stated challenge was to add that narrative scale without losing the snappy energy that made the clips recognisable.

The 2023 tour included Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. PerthNow reported a Perth performance at the Astor Theatre on July 20, 2023, while the Canberra listing advertised July 26, 2023. Those dates are historical and should not be treated as current bookings.

Public listings show that the brand remains active in 2026, although they do not provide a verified current follower count, income figure or definitive statement about the trio’s day-to-day membership.

The continued podcast and merchandise activity shows an operating brand, but it does not by itself prove the scale or profitability of the current business.

What their career path really demonstrates
Swag On The Beat’s breakthrough illustrates the opportunity—and the uncertainty—of creator work. A viral clip created awareness, but a sustainable career required consistent characters, multiple distribution platforms, commercial partnerships, ticketed performance and products fans could buy directly. None of those steps makes virality repeatable, and audience size alone cannot predict income.
The useful lesson is therefore not “quit your job after one successful TikTok.” It is that the trio spent years developing a shared act, then used attention from short videos to test longer formats and build several routes to support the work.
