Madame Web has four central heroines: Cassandra Webb, who becomes the film’s Madame Web, and the three teenagers she tries to protect—Julia Cornwall, Anya Corazón and Mattie Franklin. The movie presents the younger women as future Spider-Women, while Marvel’s comics use different histories and, in two cases, different names or aliases.
Who are the four heroines in Madame Web?
Sony describes the film as a standalone origin story. Cassandra Webb is a Manhattan paramedic who develops the ability to see the future and discovers that her visions can help her change it. She becomes connected to three young women whose destinies are described as powerful.

That is what “all four” means: one Madame Web and three future Spider-Women. It does not mean four versions of Spider-Man.

Cassandra Webb: the film’s Madame Web
In the movie, Cassandra is a New York City paramedic. After a near-death experience, she begins seeing possible futures. Those visions reveal that Ezekiel Sims is pursuing Julia, Anya and Mattie, so Cassandra takes responsibility for getting them out of his reach.

This is an origin-focused version of the character. Sony’s synopsis emphasizes Cassandra’s job, her emerging precognition and the relationship she forges with the three young women; it does not establish that the film reproduces every element of her comic-book backstory.
Her comics role
Marvel says Cassandra Webb first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in 1980. In the comics she is a clairvoyant ally of Spider-Man. Marvel’s history also places her in the wider network of Spider-Women, including Julia Carpenter and Mattie Franklin.
The shared name and prophetic abilities connect the versions, but movie continuity and comics continuity should be kept separate: the film’s paramedic origin is not presented as a scene from the comics, and the comics’ long publication history is not automatically part of the movie.

Julia Cornwall: is she Julia Carpenter?
Not exactly. The film calls Sydney Sweeney’s character Julia Cornwall. Netflix Tudum identifies her as a teenager whose future Spider-Woman status makes her a target. Marvel’s comics character is Julia Carpenter, also known as Arachne.
Those names signal a broad connection rather than a confirmed one-to-one adaptation. The film establishes Julia Cornwall as one of the girls Cassandra protects; Marvel establishes Julia Carpenter/Arachne as a separate comics incarnation with her own history. Calling the movie character “Julia Carpenter” without qualification blurs that distinction.
Anya Corazón: the comics heroine Araña
Anya is played by Isabela Merced and is the second teenager Cassandra must protect. The film groups her with Julia and Mattie as a future Spider-Woman in danger from Ezekiel Sims.

In Marvel comics, Anya Corazon is identified as Araña. “Anya Corazón” is therefore the film character’s name as presented on screen, while Araña is the established comics alias. The available official descriptions support the relationship between the two versions but do not establish that the movie retells Araña’s complete comics origin.

Celeste O’Connor plays Mattie Franklin, the third young woman in Cassandra’s protective group. Netflix Tudum describes Mattie, like Julia and Anya, as a teenager whose future as a Spider-Woman puts her in danger.
Marvel’s Madame Web history includes Mattie among the Spider-Women connected to Madame Web and Julia Carpenter. The film uses that recognizable character name and group dynamic, but its plot places Mattie inside the movie’s 2003-set origin story rather than simply reproducing her comics chronology.

Where the story fits in Sony’s universe
Netflix Tudum places the story in 2003 and identifies it as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Ezekiel Sims believes the three young women will kill him, which is why he hunts them. Cassandra’s future visions let her see those attacks before they happen and attempt to alter the outcome.
The movie’s “four heroes” label is thus a practical description of its central heroines, not a claim that all four already share the same superhero identity. Cassandra is the active protector in this story; Julia, Anya and Mattie are the endangered future heroes she is trying to keep alive.
