No official Netflix app is available for Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, and the consoles do not offer a general-purpose internet browser. That means there is no supported way to install Netflix from the eShop or watch it through a normal browser. An unofficial Android installation is the only plausible way to try Netflix on Switch hardware, but it is technical and playback is not guaranteed. For reliable viewing, use a supported TV, streaming device, computer, phone, or tablet instead.

Is Netflix available on Nintendo Switch?
No. As checked August 18, 2026, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 do not have an official Netflix app listed in the Nintendo eShop, and Netflix does not list either console among its supported devices. Netflix’s supported game-console categories include PlayStation and Xbox, but not Nintendo Switch. See Netflix’s supported-device information.

Do not install an app just because its title includes “Netflix,” “browser,” “stream,” or “media player.” Check that it is a genuine Nintendo-published app and that it is actually listed for your region.

The absence of Netflix does not mean Switch hardware cannot decode video. Nintendo supports some streaming apps, including YouTube on original Switch models in selected countries and Crunchyroll on Nintendo Switch. Those apps have their own platform support; they do not make Netflix compatible. Nor should the discontinued Netflix apps for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS be confused with Switch support: Nintendo says those apps were removed from the eShop on December 31, 2020, and discontinued on June 30, 2021. They cannot be transferred to Switch. (Nintendo’s legacy-app notice.)
Why a Switch browser trick will not play Netflix
Nintendo’s support answer says the Switch does not provide an internet browser. Some console functions may open restricted web views for tasks such as Wi-Fi sign-in or account pages, but those are not general-purpose browsers and are not a supported Netflix route. Loading a login page is not proof that the device can play protected Netflix video.
There is no official DNS setting, QR-code method, hidden-browser menu, or eShop browser app that turns a Switch into a Netflix-compatible device. Guides promising that result are inaccurate, outdated, or describing an unsupported workaround. Avoid entering your Netflix password into unofficial browser utilities or download sites.

The unofficial possibility: Android on a compatible Switch
The only plausible way to try Netflix on Switch hardware is to install a community Android build and boot it separately from Nintendo’s operating system, commonly from a microSD card. Switchroot documentation describes Android 14/15 builds based on LineageOS 21/22.2 and lists support for Switch variants including the original model, revised model, Lite, and OLED. This is a community project, not an official Nintendo operating system or Netflix release. See the current Switchroot Android documentation.
Do not mistake the existence of an Android build for a one-click, universal installation. Requirements and boot methods depend on the exact model and hardware revision; newer or patched units may need a different procedure or hardware modification. A careful preparation checklist includes:
- Identify the exact Switch model and hardware revision before following any guide.
- Read the current Switchroot instructions for that model; do not reuse a guide intended for a different revision or an old Android release.
- Back up important files and the microSD card. Use a reliable card with sufficient capacity and performance.
- Expect to need a computer, USB-C connection, a supported boot method and, depending on the console, model-specific recovery or bootloader steps.
- Download only from the current project documentation or releases it links to. Avoid random preconfigured archives and “guaranteed Netflix” downloads.
- Understand that this is unsupported software. Keep the Android setup separate from normal Nintendo use where possible, but do not assume that separation removes all recovery, account, service-policy, or warranty concerns.
Older Switchroot instructions refer to tools such as Hekate and an RCM jig for particular hardware and describe an Android 10 release that is no longer the current Android branch. Those details are not universal instructions for present-day installations. Consult the older Android 10 setup guide only as historical, model-specific context; follow current documentation for your hardware.

Will Netflix work properly in Android?
Maybe, but successful Android installation does not guarantee Netflix installation or playback. Netflix may report that the device is incompatible, or the app may install and then fail when protected video starts. Playback quality may be limited; do not expect HD, HDR, 4K, Dolby Vision, or reliable docked output without verified support for your specific setup.
Premium streaming services use digital-rights management (DRM). Google describes Widevine as a DRM system used by services including Netflix, but the standard Widevine device-compatibility information does not identify Nintendo Switch as a certified Android device. That is one reason to treat Netflix-on-Switch Android as experimental rather than equivalent to Netflix on a certified phone or TV streamer. See Google’s Widevine overview. Community reports are mixed and anecdotal; a report from another model, build, or app version does not establish that yours will work.
If you do try it, test the whole experience rather than just opening the app: sign-in, playback, video quality, audio, touchscreen and controller input, sleep and wake, battery behavior, and docked output if your model and build support it. Do not rely on spoofing device names, changing APKs from unofficial sources, or disabling DRM components to obtain better playback. Those steps can create security problems and still may not work.

Troubleshooting Netflix in Switch Android
- The app is unavailable or says the device is incompatible: Check the Android build and the project’s current notes. Do not assume every Switch model has the same certification or app compatibility.
- You can sign in, but video will not start: The issue may be device certification, integrity checks, DRM, or build compatibility. Loading Netflix or signing in does not demonstrate that protected playback is supported.
- Video stutters or freezes: Check Wi-Fi stability, card health and performance, heat, and the build’s hardware-acceleration limitations. Netflix’s connection troubleshooting guidance may help with network problems, but it is written for supported devices and cannot make an unsupported setup compatible.
- Picture quality is low: Certification and DRM limits may restrict resolution. Do not assume a faster connection or a different APK will unlock HD.
- Audio, controls, sleep, or docked video behaves oddly: These depend on the Android build and hardware configuration. Consult the current project documentation and model-specific reports rather than treating it as a Nintendo-supported feature.
- The console will not boot into Android: Recheck that the files and procedure match the exact hardware revision and inspect the microSD card. Follow the project’s recovery guidance; do not flash files intended for another model.
What about Switch Lite, OLED, and Switch 2?
Switch Lite: It cannot provide normal docked TV output. Even if an Android build and Netflix playback work, the practical use would be on the handheld screen rather than as a TV streamer.
Switch OLED: Switchroot lists OLED among supported variants, but support does not mean every installation method is identical or that Netflix DRM and playback will work. Follow OLED-specific current instructions.

Switch 2: As of August 18, 2026, the sources reviewed do not identify an official Netflix app for Switch 2. Do not assume a new console adds Netflix or a general browser; recheck the eShop and Netflix’s supported-device list for any later change.
Can you cast Netflix to the Switch or plug in a streaming stick?
Not as a normal supported solution. Casting Netflix to a compatible TV is different from casting it to a Switch screen; the console is not a standard cast receiver. The Switch’s dock sends the console’s video out over HDMI to a television. It is not an HDMI input, so plugging a Roku, Chromecast, or other streaming device into the dock will not display that device on the Switch.
A capture card or remote-desktop arrangement is a separate, awkward setup, not a built-in Switch feature, and protected video may not pass through it. If your goal is watching Netflix on the television, connect the streaming device directly to the TV instead.

Use a device Netflix supports, rather than modifying a console for a job it does not officially do:
- Smart TV: If it has a Netflix app, open it and sign in. This is the simplest choice when the TV already supports the service.
- Streaming player: A Roku, Google TV, or Fire TV device connects directly to a TV’s HDMI input. Choose based on your country, TV, budget, and preferred interface; check current local availability rather than relying on a temporary US promotion.
- Computer: Netflix supports viewing through a supported web browser at Netflix.com. Connect the computer to the TV if you want a larger screen. See Netflix’s computer and app guidance.
- Phone or tablet: Use the official Netflix app for handheld viewing, or cast to a TV that supports the relevant feature. This is more reliable than trying to make the Switch act as a phone or display.
For television viewing, Netflix’s guidance is to use the app on a supported TV or streaming device; for computers, use a supported browser. See Netflix’s TV viewing help and its supported-device list. A Netflix subscription by itself does not add Switch compatibility.
