Yes—Windows 11 has an official Apple Music app. Install it from the Microsoft Store, sign in with the Apple Account linked to your subscription, then search or browse to play music. You can also use Apple’s web player if you cannot install apps. The Windows app is the better choice for downloads and playback settings.
What you need
- A Windows 11 PC with access to the Microsoft Store.
- An Apple Account. If you already subscribe on an iPhone or another device, use the same account.
- An Apple Music subscription for the full catalog, offline downloads, Lossless, and Dolby Atmos features. Availability varies by country or region.
- An internet connection for installation, sign-in, and streaming. Downloads also need enough local storage.
- Speakers or headphones connected to your PC.
Apple’s current documentation does not give a complete Windows 11 hardware requirements table for the app. The Microsoft Store listing determines whether your PC is compatible. If the dedicated apps are unsupported on your system, Apple still offers iTunes for Windows as a fallback for some workflows.
Install Apple Music on Windows 11
- Open Start, search for Microsoft Store, and launch it.
- Search the Store for Apple Music. Check that Apple is listed as the developer so you do not install an unofficial lookalike.
- Select Get, Install, or the button currently shown in the Store.
- When installation finishes, choose Open, or launch Apple Music from the Start menu.
- If the Store offers an app update, install it before troubleshooting playback or feature problems.
Apple’s Windows apps download page directs users to the Microsoft Store and explains the separate Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Devices apps. Avoid third-party sites offering Apple Music installers.
Sign in or start a subscription
When Apple Music opens, choose its sign-in option, enter your Apple Account email and password, and complete two-factor authentication if requested. Give the app time to load your library and subscription status.

If you subscribe on an iPhone, use the account associated with that subscription. A different Apple Account can make the app appear to have no subscription or an empty library, even if you are paying on another account.
If you are new to Apple Music
- Select Home in the app’s sidebar.
- Select Try It Now, if shown.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to choose a plan and confirm payment.
- Return to the app and browse or search for music.
Plan availability, introductory offers, and prices vary by country, eligibility, and date. Apple’s U.S. page displayed Individual, Family, and Student plan prices and introductory offers as of August 16, 2026, but it also contained older conflicting Individual-price language. Check the amount and terms on Apple’s checkout screen before subscribing. Apple Music and Apple One are not available in every country or region. See Apple’s Windows subscription guide.
Find and play music
- Home: Recently played music and personalized suggestions.
- New: New releases, charts, moods, and genres.
- Made For You: Personalized playlists and recommendations.
- Search: Look for songs, artists, albums, playlists, and other catalog content.
- Library: Find music you have added to your library and eligible existing library content.
Open an item and double-click a song, album, or playlist to start playback. The playback controls let you pause, skip, adjust volume, and manage the queue; shuffle and repeat controls may be available there as well. A Lossless or Dolby icon on an album indicates that a version in that format is available, not that every output device will reproduce it as intended. Apple explains browsing and playback in its Windows guide.

Download music for offline listening
- Find the song, album, or playlist you want.
- Add it to your library if the app asks you to or if you want it collected there.
- Select the item’s download control and wait for it to finish while you are online.
- Open the downloaded item from your library to listen without an internet connection.
Downloads are for offline playback in Apple Music, not ordinary DRM-free files that you can export or keep permanently. They are tied to your Apple Account and subscription; access can end if the subscription expires, you switch accounts, or licensing changes. Higher download quality uses more storage. Streaming and download quality are configured separately.
Adjust audio quality
In Apple Music, select Sidebar Actions > Settings > Playback. The app offers separate quality choices for streaming and downloads. These settings are available when you are signed in as an Apple Music subscriber. Options include High Quality, Lossless, and High Resolution Lossless. See Apple’s Windows playback settings.
- High Quality: A sensible default for casual listening, Bluetooth headphones, and conserving bandwidth or storage.
- Lossless: Up to 24-bit/48 kHz. Consider it if you use wired headphones, powered speakers, or a receiver and value lossless playback.
- Hi-Res Lossless: Up to 24-bit/192 kHz. On Windows, playback above 48 kHz requires an external digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Choose it only if the rest of your audio chain supports it and you accept higher storage and bandwidth use.
These are format ceilings, not guarantees about what your PC will output. Bluetooth is convenient, but it does not carry Apple Music’s lossless stream unchanged. Built-in speakers and wired connections can be used for lossless playback; Apple recommends a wired setup for lossless-focused listening. A higher setting is not automatically audible: the recording, output hardware, listening environment, and listener all matter. Apple’s lossless audio guidance explains the format limits.

- Open Sidebar Actions > Settings > Playback.
- Open the Dolby Atmos menu.
- Choose Automatic, Always On, or Off, depending on your device and preference. If you are unsure, start with Automatic.
Atmos is different from Lossless. Availability depends on your region, subscription, app version, the track, Windows audio configuration, and output hardware. Look for a Dolby icon on the album or track; not every song has an Atmos version. Apple says to keep the app up to date, check hardware support with your PC manufacturer, and notes that the Dolby Access app may be required on some Windows devices. If Atmos is unavailable or sounds wrong, try Automatic or Off and compare the stereo version. When you download a Dolby Atmos track, Apple says a stereo version is downloaded too. Read Apple’s Dolby Atmos guidance for Windows.

- Immerse Yourself in Detailed Audio: The noise cancelling headphones have oversized 40mm dynamic drivers that produce detailed sound and thumping beats with BassUp technology for your every travel, commuting and gaming. Compatible with Hi-Res certified audio via the AUX cable for more detail.

- Dual-Connections: Connect to two devices simultaneously with Bluetooth 5.0 and instantly switch between them. Whether you're working on your laptop, or need to take a phone call, audio from your Bluetooth headphones will automatically play from the device you need to hear from.
- App for EQ Customization: Download the soundcore app to tailor your sound using the customizable EQ, with 22 presets, or adjust it yourself. You can also switch between 3 modes: ANC, Normal, and Transparency, and relax with white noise.
Do not assume Atmos will behave identically through laptop speakers, Bluetooth headphones, USB, HDMI, optical, or analog outputs. The app’s format label does not guarantee that every connection reproduces the intended immersive mix.
Use Apple Music in a browser
Go to the Apple Music web player to listen without installing the Windows app. It is a practical option on a managed work or school PC, a computer where the Store is unavailable, or when you want temporary access. The dedicated app is preferable if you need local downloads, Windows playback settings, or fuller library management; browser features and behavior can vary.
Apple Music or iTunes?
For a supported Windows 11 PC, start with the dedicated Apple Music app for streaming and managing music. Apple also provides separate Apple TV and Apple Devices apps: the former is for video, while the latter handles tasks such as iPhone and iPad backup, restore, updates, and synchronization.
iTunes for Windows remains available and can still be useful for podcasts, audiobooks, or a PC that does not meet the requirements for Apple’s dedicated apps. Older tutorials that say iTunes is required for Apple Music are out of date for compatible systems. Apple describes the current lineup on its Windows apps page.

Troubleshooting
Apple Music does not appear in the Store
Search for the exact name Apple Music in the Microsoft Store, rather than Apple TV or Apple Devices. Check Windows updates and sign in to the Store if needed. Availability, region settings, PC compatibility, or work/school restrictions can affect what appears. If you cannot install it, try the web player. Use iTunes only if the dedicated app is unsupported and it fits your particular workflow; do not download an installer from an unofficial site.
The app will not install or update
Open the Microsoft Store directly, check that you are signed in if required, and try the Store’s update option again. Restarting Windows and checking for Windows updates are reasonable first steps. If the PC is managed by an organization, its administrator may restrict Store apps. Apple’s current documentation does not support a universal minimum build or hardware specification to troubleshoot against, so rely on the Store’s compatibility message rather than a guessed requirement.
No subscription is detected
Sign out of Apple Music and sign back in with the Apple Account used for billing. Check that the subscription is active and, if you use a Family plan, that you still belong to the relevant Family Sharing group. Restart the app after account changes. Regional availability can also affect access.
Playlists or library items are missing
Confirm that you are using the same Apple Account as on your other devices, that the item was added to the library rather than merely played, and that the PC is online. Some content may no longer be available in your region. Do not assume every local iTunes file or playlist will automatically sync to the cloud library.
Best Value
- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
A download fails
Check your subscription, account, internet connection, available disk space, and whether the item is eligible for download. If storage is tight, reduce the download-quality setting under Sidebar Actions > Settings > Playback. Downloading is for in-app offline listening, not exporting a regular music file.
There is no sound
Check the app’s volume and confirm Windows is sending sound to the intended output device—not a monitor, laptop speakers, or an inactive Bluetooth device. In Windows, select the correct output in the sound controls, then try another track or audio app to isolate whether the problem is specific to Apple Music.
Lossless is missing or sounds no different
Confirm that you are signed in as a subscriber and look in Sidebar Actions > Settings > Playback. Lossless availability varies by region. Bluetooth, laptop speakers, Windows audio processing, the particular recording, or the listening environment can mask a difference. Try wired output; Hi-Res Lossless above 48 kHz on Windows needs an external DAC.

Dolby Atmos does not appear or play correctly
Update Apple Music, check that the track has a Dolby icon, and verify the Dolby Atmos setting in Playback. Confirm Windows is using the intended output and check whether the PC needs Dolby Access. Try Automatic or Off instead of Always On, then compare the stereo version. Support depends on the hardware and audio path; there is no single setting that guarantees Atmos on every Windows PC.
