Yes. Apple Podcasts works on a Windows PC through a desktop browser. Open podcasts.apple.com in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, or another current browser to search, browse, and play podcasts. It is a full web experience launched on August 19, 2024—not a native Apple Podcasts application for Windows.
How to listen to Apple Podcasts on a PC
- Open a current version of Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, or another supported browser.
- Go to podcasts.apple.com.
- Search for a show or episode, or browse categories, New, Top Charts, and Apple’s editorial collections.
- Choose an episode and select the play control.
- Sign in with your Apple Account if you want your Library, Up Next queue, subscriptions, recommendations, notifications, followed shows, and playback progress.
Apple says the web experience is available in 175 countries and regions. Individual shows, explicit content, subscriptions, and other features can vary by location, account, show, and device.
What Apple actually made available
Before the full web experience, Apple Podcasts Preview pages mainly helped people find individual shows and episodes through links or search engines. The newer interface brings catalog browsing, search, playback, Top Charts, Library access, Up Next, subscriptions, recommendations, notifications, and account-linked listening progress into one browser-based service. Apple describes this as the full Apple Podcasts experience on the web.
That wording should not be confused with complete feature parity. The web player is different from the Apple Podcasts apps on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, CarPlay, Apple TV, HomePod, and Vision Pro. It is also different from the former iTunes-based Windows workflow: you do not need to install iTunes to use Apple Podcasts from a PC browser.

Can you use it without an Apple Account?
For much of the free catalog, yes. Apple says visitors who are not signed in can browse millions of free podcasts, Top Charts, and editorial collections, then play available episodes.
Signing in is needed for account-linked features such as Library and Up Next. Apple also states that an Apple Account is required for explicit shows and episodes. Paid creator subscriptions and other account-specific benefits likewise require authentication, and content restrictions may vary by region.
What carries over from an iPhone or Mac?
When you sign in with the same Apple Account, Apple documents access to your Library, followed shows, Up Next queue, Apple Podcasts subscriptions, personalized recommendations, notifications, and saved playback progress. This can make the PC browser useful for continuing a podcast at work or at home after listening on an iPhone or Mac.

However, synchronization does not mean that every setting and control is identical across devices. Do not assume that local downloads, stations, playlists, playback preferences, advanced queue tools, or every app-specific feature will appear exactly as they do in an Apple Podcasts app.
Is Apple Podcasts free on a PC?
The browser player itself does not require a separate paid Apple Podcasts plan for ordinary free shows. Apple Podcasts is not an all-you-can-listen paid service in the same sense as Apple Music or Spotify Premium.
Individual creators and channels can offer Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. Prices and benefits are set by the show or creator and may include ad-free listening, bonus material, or subscriber-only episodes. A subscription to one creator does not unlock every paid podcast.

What the browser version may not replace
Offline downloads
Treat Apple Podcasts on the PC as primarily a streaming service. Apple advertises downloads and offline listening for its apps, but the cited web documentation does not establish a general offline-download mode for the PC browser. Episodes downloaded on an iPhone or Mac should not be assumed to transfer as local files to the website.

Private RSS feeds
Do not assume that a Patreon feed, private subscriber RSS URL, or custom podcast address can be imported directly into the web player. Apple documents RSS-feed following in its apps, while its web documentation focuses on catalog shows and account features. A dedicated podcast client may be a better choice for private feeds. Apple also notes that shows followed directly by RSS have less catalog discovery and recommendation integration than shows listed in its catalog.

Ratings, reviews, and advanced controls
Apple’s public web documentation confirms browsing, playback, Library, Up Next, subscriptions, recommendations, notifications, followed shows, and progress. It does not establish full browser support for ratings, reviews, every show-management setting, silence trimming, granular queue controls, or extensive playback customization. Users who need those tools may prefer a dedicated podcast app.
Optional: make it feel like a Windows app
Chrome and Edge may offer an “Install this site as an app” command, or a similarly named option, for websites that support it. If available for Apple Podcasts, this creates a shortcut and usually opens the site in a separate window. It remains a browser-based wrapper, not an official native Apple Podcasts Windows application. The exact command depends on the browser and version.

Troubleshooting Apple Podcasts on the web
An episode will not play
- Refresh the page and try another episode.
- Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
- Test the site in a private or incognito window.
- Temporarily disable the relevant ad blocker or content-blocking extension.
- Make sure JavaScript and required cookies are not blocked.
- Sign in with the correct Apple Account.
- Check whether the episode is region-restricted, explicit, or available only to subscribers.
- If you are on a work or school network, try another connection or ask whether media and Apple login services are restricted.
The Library is empty
Confirm that you are signed in and using the same Apple Account as on your iPhone or Mac. Also check that the shows were followed in Apple Podcasts rather than only saved in another podcast application. Privacy software, blocked cookies, or a page that has not finished loading can also prevent account data from appearing. Apple confirms that Library and Up Next access depend on signing in with an Apple Account.

Explicit episodes are missing
Sign in with an Apple Account and check applicable content or age restrictions. Apple specifically says sign-in is required for explicit shows and episodes. Availability can still vary by country or region.
Who should use Apple Podcasts in a browser?
The web player is a good fit for an Apple user who works on Windows, wants quick access without installing iTunes or another application, mostly streams public shows, and wants account-linked Library and playback continuity.
It is a weaker fit if offline desktop listening, private RSS feeds, advanced playback controls, automatic downloads, powerful filtering, or a dedicated Windows application is essential. In those cases, consider a podcast-focused client such as Pocket Casts, or another service that explicitly supports the required feature.
Alternatives for PC listeners
- Pocket Casts: A cross-platform option for listeners who want podcast-specific management and private RSS support. Check the vendor’s current plan details.
- Spotify: Useful if you already keep music and podcasts in one account and want a mature Windows application and web player. It does not automatically reproduce Apple Podcasts Library synchronization or every Apple subscription.
- YouTube Music: Convenient for people already invested in Google and YouTube, particularly for video podcasts. Its catalog organization, RSS support, and account features differ from Apple Podcasts.
- A dedicated RSS client: The strongest choice for private feeds, offline downloads, playback customization, import/export, and advanced queue management. Check Windows support and cross-device synchronization before choosing one.
