Rather than presenting a newly written, third-person life story, the book builds a documentary portrait from Jobs’s own speeches, interviews, emails, correspondence, photographs, and other archival material connected with Apple, NeXT, and Pixar.
Its selections cover Jobs’s childhood and young adulthood, Apple’s founding, the Macintosh, his departure from Apple in 1985, NeXT and Pixar, his return to Apple, the “Think Different” era, the Apple Store, the iPod, the iPhone, and his views on creativity, management, teams, craft, and product design.

Why some headlines call it “new”
The original announcement was published on April 11, 2023. It is not a newly released ebook in 2026; the important current fact is that the free digital edition remains accessible.
The launch combined familiar public material with archival items that the Archive described as previously unseen, including photographs, internal Apple meeting transcripts, and emails. That does not mean every page is newly discovered: the book also includes well-known speeches and interviews.
Where to get the official copy
Use the Steve Jobs Archive’s publications-download page. It links to the official reading and download options and is preferable to third-party ebook repositories or file mirrors.
The Archive says it is the sole authorized outlet for its downloadable EPUB files. The download is licensed for individual personal use; redistribution, public display, performance, and derivative versions of the files are prohibited under the Archive’s stated terms.

The public free offering is digital. It should not be confused with a free hardcover edition. Physical copies discussed around the launch were separately provided to selected Apple and Disney employees, rather than generally distributed as a public giveaway.
Four ways to read it
1. Browser reading
Open the official book website and begin reading online. Its custom web presentation lets you browse the contents and move among selections from different periods of Jobs’s life and career.
This is the simplest option if you want immediate access without downloading a file. The trade-off is that browser reading may be less convenient for offline use, dedicated e-readers, or some annotation workflows.

From the official download page, choose the Apple Books option for Make Something Wonderful. The Archive identifies Apple Books as an official reading route for compatible Apple devices.
This is a natural choice if your ebook library is already centered on Apple devices and you want standard reading features and synchronization where supported. The title should be described as a Steve Jobs Archive publication, however, not as an Apple publication.
3. Libby and participating libraries
Search for the title in Libby or through your library’s digital catalog. Sign in with an eligible library account, then borrow the ebook if your library offers it.
Libby availability is not universal. It can depend on the library system, country, licensing arrangement, account status, and lending limits. Borrowing periods, holds, and return rules are controlled by the participating library.

- Open the official publications-download page.
- Select Download Make Something Wonderful EPUB.
- Save the EPUB to your phone, tablet, computer, or cloud storage.
- Open or share it with a compatible reading app or e-reader.
The Archive says its EPUB files work on almost all compatible tablets, smartphones, desktop computers, and digital reading devices. Compatibility still depends on the particular app, device, and software version.

Can it be read on Kindle or NOOK?
Kindle and NOOK support depends on the device or app’s EPUB-import workflow. A downloaded EPUB will not necessarily open automatically on every Kindle model. Kindle users may need to use an approved import or Send-to-Kindle process, while NOOK users should follow the instructions for their specific device or app.
The original announcement mentioned Kindle and NOOK among possible EPUB destinations, but that should be understood as conditional compatibility, not a guarantee for every model or firmware version. The browser version is the fallback when an e-reader cannot import the file.
The Archive provides an EPUB download, but its official pages should be consulted for the current terms; the book should not be described as DRM-free without explicit confirmation.
What “in his own words” means
The phrase means that much of the book’s substance comes directly from Jobs’s speeches, interviews, emails, and correspondence. It is not a continuous autobiography written by Jobs, and it does not reproduce every source document in full.
The official book site says the contents have been edited and excerpted for clarity and privacy. Editorial selection and framing therefore shape the reader’s experience. The result is best understood as a curated primary-source compilation or documentary portrait.
Readers who want an independently reported chronology, sustained criticism, or deeper examination of controversies, business decisions, relationships, health, and management style may prefer a conventional biography by a third-party author. Make Something Wonderful complements that kind of book rather than replacing it.
Is the Steve Jobs Archive Apple?
No. The Archive should be treated separately from Apple, Pixar, and Disney. Its FAQ addresses the organization’s relationship to those companies, while the Archive describes itself as an independent home for Jobs’s story and related programs.

That distinction is also why “published by the Steve Jobs Archive” is more precise than calling this an Apple ebook. Apple Books is one official way to read it, but Apple is not the publisher identified for the title.
