Where can you watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?

| Viewing route | Who can use it | When access is available | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple TV promotional window | Nonsubscribers in supported territories | Only on dates Apple officially announces | Temporary access; the last confirmed U.S. window was October 18–19, 2025. |
| Apple TV+ subscription | Current subscribers | Outside the free window while the special remains in the catalog | Subscription pricing and catalog terms are subject to Apple’s current offer. |
| Free trial or promotion | Eligible users under Apple’s current terms | Only if Apple presents an active offer | A trial may require signup and is not the same as a no-signup free stream. |

When will the 2026 free viewing window be available?
The 2026 free viewing dates were not confirmed in the Apple material reviewed through August 12, 2026. Apple’s recurring holiday practice makes an October window plausible, but an expected month is not an announced date. Apple provided free Peanuts-special windows in previous holiday seasons, including 2024, and the 2025 window was specifically confirmed for October 18–19. The Apple announcement for the 2024 holiday streaming promotion illustrates why the free offer should be treated as seasonal and temporary.
To avoid missing the announcement, check the Apple TV Peanuts listing in October and look for Apple’s official press announcements. Do not treat an old article using “this weekend” as a current schedule. If Apple announces dates after August 12, 2026, those dates should replace the status information above.
Do you need an Apple TV+ subscription?
You do not necessarily need an Apple TV+ subscription during an officially announced free window. Apple has used temporary promotional access for nonsubscribers, while subscribers can watch the special outside that window when the title is available in the catalog.
A free trial is a separate option. A trial can involve eligibility rules, an Apple Account, payment details, an expiration date, and cancellation conditions. Because Apple’s prices, trial length, promotional offers, and account requirements are changeable, confirm the live terms before signing up. Do not assume that an advertised trial is available to every viewer or in every country.

Which devices can play the special?
The Apple TV app or Apple’s web player can provide access on supported devices, including Apple devices, compatible smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, and computers. The exact list depends on Apple’s current compatibility support and may vary by territory. A device that supports the Apple TV app may still require a current operating-system version, an Apple Account, or an active subscription outside the promotional window.
- Open the Apple TV app on a supported device, or use Apple’s web player on a computer.
- Search for It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown or open the Peanuts collection.
- Check whether Apple labels the title as free during the announced promotional dates.
- If the title requests a subscription outside the free window, decide whether a current subscription or a physical copy is the better option.
Is the special still shown on broadcast television?
The former broadcast-TV tradition should not be treated as the current U.S. viewing plan. Apple and PBS partnered for special broadcast airings of Peanuts holiday programs in 2020, including A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas, but Apple’s current rights arrangement makes Apple TV the primary official home. The 2020 Apple-PBS broadcast announcement is historical context, not a 2026 schedule.
A local station could theoretically publish a separate listing, but no 2026 broadcast airing was established in the research reviewed. Viewers should check local listings only if a broadcaster announces one; Apple TV remains the confirmed current streaming route.
What is the physical alternative?
Viewers who want dependable repeat access can use the Peanuts: 75th Anniversary Ultimate TV Specials Collection on Blu-ray or DVD. Release coverage reported that the collection arrived in October 2025 and contains 40 Peanuts television specials. The collection is a durable alternative to waiting for a short free streaming promotion, although buyers should confirm the exact edition, disc format, regional compatibility, inventory, and current price before ordering. See the reported release details for the 75th Anniversary collection.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown premiered in 1966 and is based on Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip. The story centers on Linus, who waits in a pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown and the other children dress up and go trick-or-treating. The approximately 25-minute program combines Halloween traditions with the Peanuts characters’ familiar concerns about disappointment, loyalty, imagination, and friendship. The Charles M. Schulz Museum’s October 2025 program guide lists the special’s approximate running time.
What should you avoid when looking for a free stream?
Do not rely on unofficial uploads, file-sharing services, or pirate streams. Such sources are not legitimate substitutes for Apple’s announced promotional window, and their availability, quality, safety, and legality cannot be verified. The reliable choices are Apple’s official seasonal access, a current Apple TV+ subscription under its terms, or a legitimate physical release.

The special runs for approximately 25 minutes, according to the Charles M. Schulz Museum’s October 2025 program guide.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The old “free this weekend” alert referred to October 18–19, 2025, not a current 2026 event. Apple TV remains the official U.S. streaming home, but Apple had not announced the 2026 free dates as of August 12, 2026. Check Apple’s Peanuts listing in October, or use a subscription or legitimate Blu-ray/DVD collection for access outside the promotional window.
