What is Marvel Zombies about?
The series takes the zombie reality introduced in What If…? and expands it into a complete four-episode story. A zombie virus has devastated the world, leaving a desperate group of heroes and survivors to navigate a dystopian landscape filled with super-powered undead.

Is Marvel Zombies part of the MCU?
Yes—but it is best understood as an alternate-universe story within Marvel’s animated multiverse. It is not a continuation of the ordinary live-action MCU timeline and does not change the status of the main versions of Marvel’s heroes.
The clearest starting point is What If…? season 1, episode 5, “What If… Zombies?!,” which introduced a zombie-stricken Marvel reality. That episode provides useful thematic and world-building context, but it is not required viewing. Marvel Zombies is designed to function as its own four-part event.

Why the series is aimed at adults
Marvel’s own behind-the-scenes description identifies Marvel Zombies as Marvel Television’s first TV-MA animated series. That makes it substantially more adult-oriented than a conventional all-ages superhero cartoon. Viewers should expect graphic violence, horror imagery and a harsher survival-story atmosphere.
“TV-MA” is the official U.S. rating language associated with the series. It is more precise than calling the show “R-rated,” since film and television classification systems use different terms and regional ratings may differ.

The original comic trade paperback collects Marvel Zombies #1–5, written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Sean Phillips. Marvel has also published a larger Marvel Zombies: The Complete Collection, which brings together related material from the Ultimate Fantastic Four and Marvel Zombies stories. These books are useful if you want to explore the comic origins, but they follow comic-book continuity rather than serving as a scene-by-scene companion to the Disney+ show.
