If you cannot sign in anywhere, the problem is probably the account email or phone number, password, recovery process, or account security. If Netflix works elsewhere, the account is probably fine and the failing browser, app, TV device, or network needs attention.
The fastest way to fix a Netflix login problem is to determine whether it affects the account everywhere or only one device. Try signing in on another phone, computer, or TV. If Netflix rejects the login everywhere, verify the account email or phone number and reset or recover the password. If another device works, troubleshoot the failing browser, app, TV, device software, or home network instead.

1. Confirm the Netflix email address or phone number
A correct password will not work if it is being entered for the wrong Netflix account. Carefully check the email address for spelling mistakes, missing characters, or an incorrect domain. If the account has a phone number attached, try that number instead.
If you have forgotten which email address or phone number is used, open Netflix’s Login Help recovery option. In eligible cases, Netflix can help locate the account using account and payment information. Recovery may be more difficult if the account is billed through a third party, paid with a gift card, or you cannot access the account information Netflix requests. In that situation, contact Netflix customer service rather than repeatedly guessing credentials.

Do not enter your Netflix password, payment-card number, or one-time sign-in code into this article, a search result, or an unfamiliar website. Use Netflix’s official app or website for account recovery.
2. Reset the password through Netflix Login Help
If Netflix says the password is incorrect, request a password reset by email or SMS from Login Help.
- Choose the email or text-message recovery method offered for your account.
- Open the newest reset message and follow its instructions.
- Create a new password that is unique to Netflix.
- When Netflix offers the option, leave Sign out all devices selected. This is especially important if someone else may have used the account.
- Sign in again manually on your main device.
A password-reset email link expires after 24 hours. An SMS verification code expires after 20 minutes. If you do not see the email, check spam, junk, promotions, and other filtered folders. Add Netflix’s account email address to your contacts, then request another reset message.
Check for an old password saved by your browser or password manager
After a reset, your browser, phone, or password manager may continue submitting the old password automatically. Delete or edit the saved Netflix credential, then type the new password yourself once. Changing the password inside a password manager does not necessarily update the Netflix app’s saved credential.

3. Fix Netflix sign-in codes and links
If Netflix sends a sign-in code or link instead of asking for a password, the message should go to the email address or phone number associated with the account.

- Check spam, junk, promotions, blocked messages, and SMS filtering.
- Use the newest message, not an earlier code or link.
- Request a resend if the first message does not arrive.
- If the sign-in screen offers it, switch to password sign-in. Netflix says password sign-in requires the primary account email address or phone number.
Netflix sign-in codes and links expire after 15 minutes. Repeated requests can invalidate older messages and may temporarily limit additional attempts. Do not keep entering codes from several messages in sequence: request one fresh code, wait for it, and use that newest message promptly.
4. If Netflix works elsewhere but not in your browser
This pattern points to local browser data, an outdated browser, cookies, or an old autofill entry—not usually a broken Netflix account.

- Use Netflix’s official cookie-clearing option, then sign in again.
- Update the browser and retry.
- Confirm that cookies are allowed for Netflix.
- Temporarily remove stale saved passwords or problematic autofill entries.
- Try a supported browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, or Safari.
- If possible, test a private browsing window or a different supported browser.
Clearing cookies is not a password reset. It signs the browser out and removes local session information. You still need the correct Netflix email address or phone number and password, or access to the account’s sign-in code.
5. If the Netflix app will not accept the login
Android
Netflix’s Android troubleshooting includes clearing the app’s storage. This signs you out and removes downloaded titles, so make sure you know the password or have access to the account’s recovery method before doing it. The exact menu names vary by phone, but the path is generally Settings > Apps > Netflix > Storage, followed by the option to clear storage or data.
Windows
Use Windows’ installed-app settings to open Netflix’s advanced options and choose its reset option. This can remove local app state and sign you out. If the Windows app continues to fail, try Netflix in an updated supported browser to determine whether the problem is limited to the app.
On a Windows PC that still has browser-cookie or local cleanup problems after Netflix’s official steps, a Windows PC troubleshooting tool may be an optional adjacent aid. It is not an official Netflix fix and should not be treated as a way to recover an account or repair Netflix authentication.

iPhone and iPad
Restart the device and update Netflix through the App Store. If iCloud Keychain or another autofill service is entering an old password, update or remove the saved Netflix credential and type the current password manually.
6. Fix sign-in on a smart TV, streaming stick, or game console
On a TV-connected device, first verify the email address or phone number displayed on the Netflix sign-in screen. Depending on the device, Netflix may offer one of several methods:
- Scan a QR code with your phone.
- Open the displayed Netflix sign-in address in a browser.
- Use a sign-in link sent to your email or phone.
- Enter the account details with the remote control.
Netflix’s TV-connected-device guidance covers smart TVs, streaming sticks, media players, cable boxes, Apple TV, Xbox, and PlayStation. Follow the method shown on your particular screen rather than assuming every device uses the same code or web address.
Fully restart the device
Do not rely only on standby mode. Power the TV-connected device off completely, wait about 15 seconds, turn it back on, and try again.
Restart the modem and router if the device still fails
- Unplug the modem and router.
- Wait about 30 seconds.
- Reconnect them.
- Wait for the internet connection to return fully.
- Retry Netflix on the TV device.
If a VPN, proxy, custom DNS setting, or other network customization is active, restore the device or router’s default connection settings temporarily. These changes are relevant when Netflix fails on one home network or one device; they will not correct a wrong account email address or password.
7. Resolve “Update Required” and unsupported-device errors
An “Update Required” message does not always mean that the Netflix app alone needs updating. It can indicate an outdated browser, operating system, or device—or hardware that Netflix no longer supports.

- Install available Netflix app updates.
- Update the TV, streaming device, browser, or operating system.
- Restart the device and retry the sign-in.
- Check whether the hardware meets Netflix’s current browser or device requirements.
If the hardware cannot meet those requirements, replacing it with a supported streaming media player can be a reasonable device-specific solution. It is not a fix for an incorrect password, an expired verification code, or an account takeover. Confirm that the replacement is supported in your country and works with your TV before buying it.
8. Separate a Netflix login problem from a home-network problem
If Netflix works on mobile data, another Wi-Fi network, or another device but fails on your home network, test the connection rather than resetting the account again. Open Fast.com in a browser on the affected network; it tests the connection directly to Netflix.
Contact your existing internet service provider if you find signs of an outage, modem or router trouble, or incorrect network settings. Ask the ISP to check the connection and equipment. Home internet troubleshooting is relevant only when the failure is network-specific; changing providers will not solve a forgotten password or an incorrect Netflix login identifier.

If Netflix tells you that the account email address changed without your permission, stop ordinary login troubleshooting and contact Netflix through its official support channel. The normal password-reset process may not reach you if the account’s contact information has been changed.
Be cautious with messages claiming to be from Netflix. Do not click an unfamiliar sign-in link or provide a password, payment details, or other sensitive information in response to an unexpected email or text. Netflix says it will not request sensitive personal or payment information through such messages.
If you already entered a reused password into a suspicious page, change that password on Netflix and on every other service where you used it. Use a different password for each account, and review account activity or signed-in devices after you regain access.

When to contact Netflix
Contact Netflix support when:
- You cannot identify the account email or phone number through Login Help.
- Your account uses third-party billing or gift-card billing and automated recovery does not work.
- The reset message or code never arrives after checking the destination and filtered folders.
- Your account email changed without permission.
- You can sign in elsewhere but a supported device continues to reject the login after its app, browser, and network troubleshooting is complete.
Have the error wording and affected device ready, but never send Netflix support your password or a one-time sign-in code. Do not assume that Netflix is experiencing a live outage unless a current official Netflix status source confirms it.
