Wimbledon 2025 women’s semifinals: results
Amanda Anisimova defeated Aryna Sabalenka, 4–6, 6–4, 6–4
The top-half semifinal brought together No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka and No. 13 seed Amanda Anisimova. Anisimova recovered after dropping the opening set to win 4–6, 6–4, 6–4 and reach the Wimbledon final.
The match carried significant pressure for both players. Sabalenka was trying to reach a fourth consecutive Grand Slam singles final, while Anisimova was making the most of a resurgence that had become especially notable on grass. The WTA preview identified the matchup as a likely contest between two aggressive, heavy hitters.
There was also an intriguing head-to-head contrast: Anisimova had won five of their previous eight meetings entering the match, although none of those encounters had taken place on grass. That made Wimbledon’s low-bouncing, quick-playing surface an important unknown rather than a simple continuation of their earlier results.

Iga Swiatek defeated Belinda Bencic, 6–2, 6–0
No. 8 seed Iga Swiatek beat Belinda Bencic 6–2, 6–0 in the other women’s semifinal. Both players were first-time Wimbledon semifinalists, but they arrived with very different milestone stories.
For Swiatek, reaching the semifinal completed a career achievement: she had now reached at least the semifinals at all four Grand Slam tournaments. The five-time Grand Slam champion was also attempting to reach her first Wimbledon final.
Bencic’s appearance was a major return to the sport’s biggest stages. She was playing in only her second Grand Slam semifinal and had reached it less than 15 months after giving birth to her daughter. Swiatek led their head-to-head 3–1 before the match; Bencic’s only Grand Slam victory over Swiatek had come at the 2021 U.S. Open.

Wimbledon 2025 men’s semifinals: results
Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic, 6–3, 6–3, 6–4
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets on Centre Court, winning 6–3, 6–3, 6–4. The result put Sinner into his first Wimbledon final and ended Djokovic’s run at the semifinal stage.

Sinner was the world No. 1 and had won their previous four meetings, giving him a 5–4 overall head-to-head advantage at the time of the ATP preview. Djokovic, however, had won both of their previous Wimbledon meetings, in the 2022 quarterfinals and 2023 semifinals, and was pursuing an eighth Wimbledon title.
The match therefore tested whether Sinner’s recent advantage over Djokovic would translate to grass and whether Djokovic’s experience at the All England Club could once again change the balance. The completed result made Sinner’s Wimbledon breakthrough the defining outcome.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Taylor Fritz, 6–4, 5–7, 6–3, 7–6 (6)
No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated No. 5 seed Taylor Fritz 6–4, 5–7, 6–3, 7–6 (6) to reach a third consecutive Wimbledon final.
Alcaraz entered with a 2–0 head-to-head record against Fritz and was attempting to remain on course for a third straight Wimbledon title. Fritz represented the other side of the matchup: a leading American player with a major opportunity to break through at one of tennis’s most important events, against a champion who had already established himself as one of the defining grass-court players of his generation.

What to expect from a Wimbledon semifinal
Different formats for the women’s and men’s draws
Wimbledon women’s singles semifinals use a best-of-three-sets format. Men’s singles semifinals use the traditional Grand Slam best-of-five format. That difference affects both the viewing time and the way a match can develop: a man’s semifinal can last through four or five sets, while a women’s semifinal is decided after two sets or, at most, three.

Grass changes the tactical priorities
Wimbledon is played on grass at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Grass generally rewards a strong serve, an effective first strike and the ability to react quickly to a low bounce. Points can develop rapidly, and players may have less time to recover their court position after a wide serve or attacking shot.
That does not make every match identical. A player still needs return quality, movement, balance and the patience to handle an opponent who is comfortable extending rallies. But the surface places unusual value on holding serve, protecting the first two shots of a point and making clean decisions when the ball stays low.

Why the semifinal matchups mattered
- Sabalenka–Anisimova: an aggressive power matchup, with Anisimova’s previous overall advantage meeting the unfamiliar question of how that rivalry would translate to grass.
- Swiatek–Bencic: Swiatek’s pursuit of a first Wimbledon final against Bencic’s significant return to a Grand Slam semifinal after childbirth.
- Sinner–Djokovic: the world No. 1’s recent head-to-head momentum against a six-time Wimbledon champion with a history of success over Sinner at this tournament.
- Alcaraz–Fritz: the defending champion’s attempt to reach a third straight final against Fritz’s chance to defeat one of the tournament’s established grass-court forces.
What can you still watch now?
There is no 2025 semifinal to watch live now. For legitimate retrospective viewing, check:
- ESPN’s Wimbledon replay area for any surviving full-match replays, condensed matches or official highlights.
- The official Wimbledon website for the completed draw, match results, video clips and tournament archive material.
- Official player and tournament channels for authorized highlights and interviews.
Replay catalogs are volatile. A page that carried a full match during the tournament may later show only highlights, while regional rights may determine whether a replay can be viewed at all. Confirm the current listing immediately before publishing or planning a viewing session.
Wimbledon-themed gifts and viewing-day extras
For fans who want a Wimbledon keepsake, a Wimbledon tennis towel is a straightforward merchandise option. The official Wimbledon shop has listed a green, Wimbledon-branded cotton towel with a court-stencil design, tournament logo, 70-by-133-centimeter dimensions and a 600gsm construction. That confirms the product category and design, but it does not confirm that an Amazon listing is official or currently available. Check the seller, licensing information and current product details before buying.
A towel is an optional collectible, not something required to watch or understand tennis. Other sensible categories include official tournament clothing and licensed tennis equipment; availability and licensing should be verified through the relevant official shop or manufacturer.
