Where the match was available legally during EURO 2024
Switzerland: SRF was the verified free option
SRF announced that it would show all 51 EURO 2024 matches live on free-to-air television and as livestreams through its sports website and the SRF Sport app. For a viewer located in Switzerland during the tournament, this was the strongest documented answer to “where can I watch Switzerland vs. Germany for free?”
That historical availability should not be confused with a current live page. EURO 2024 concluded on July 14, 2024, and an SRF page may now offer only news, highlights, reports or archived material. SRF is part of the SRG SSR public-service broadcasting structure, which UEFA listed as Switzerland’s EURO 2024 broadcast partner.
Germany: ARD, RTL, ZDF and MagentaTV
UEFA identified Telekom Deutschland, ARD, RTL Germany and ZDF as Germany’s official EURO 2024 broadcast partners. Deutsche Telekom also stated that MagentaTV held live rights to all 51 matches, with selected fixtures shown exclusively on the service.
The exact route for Switzerland–Germany depended on the broadcaster’s 2024 schedule. It would be inaccurate to claim that every listed German broadcaster carried this specific fixture free of charge. Some coverage could have been available through public broadcasters, while MagentaTV access was subject to that service’s terms. Check the broadcaster’s official archive or schedule if you are looking for a replay rather than a live broadcast.

These were authorized viewing routes, not proof of a guaranteed free stream. Depending on the platform and the viewer’s television subscription, location and account status, access could require pay-TV authentication, a subscription or a promotional arrangement. Vix may have offered tournament coverage, but the available evidence does not establish that the full Switzerland–Germany match was free without conditions.
United Kingdom and other territories
UEFA’s tournament guide listed local rights-holders throughout Europe and the rest of the world, including BBC and ITV in the United Kingdom, NOS in the Netherlands and TVE in Spain. Rights vary by country, and a broadcaster that held EURO 2024 rights was not necessarily showing every match on a free online stream.
Use UEFA’s official EURO 2024 broadcaster list to identify the relevant broadcaster for your country, then check that broadcaster’s own schedule or archive. A foreign broadcaster’s stream should not be treated as universally accessible.
What “watch for free” meant in practice
Free viewing can describe several different arrangements, and they are not interchangeable:
- Free-to-air television: the Swiss SRF announcement explicitly confirmed this for all 51 matches.
- Free online public-broadcaster livestream: SRF also confirmed online livestream distribution through its website and app for viewers in its service territory during the tournament.
- Authenticated streaming: a service may provide the match to customers who sign in through a qualifying television or sports subscription.
- Subscription streaming: a platform may hold the rights but require a paid plan.
- Highlights or a match report: these may remain available after the tournament, but they are not the same as a full-match live stream or replay.
Do not assume that an official rights-holder’s name means the match was free online, and do not assume that a page titled “live” still contains a playable 2024 broadcast. Rights windows, territory restrictions and archive policies can change.

Match result and key moments
Switzerland took the lead in the 28th minute through Dan Ndoye. Germany controlled more of the ball—UEFA’s match statistics recorded 62% possession for Germany and 38% for Switzerland—but Switzerland held on for most of the match.

How to find a replay or highlights now
- Start with UEFA’s official match report and video or highlights section, if a video remains available in your territory.
- Check SRF’s sports archive if you are in Switzerland and want to see whether its rights allow a replay or highlights.
- In Germany, check ARD, RTL, ZDF or MagentaTV’s official archives rather than third-party embeds.
- In the United States, check Fox Sports, fuboTV or Vix for any surviving highlights or on-demand listing. A current listing is not guaranteed by the fact that the service held tournament rights in 2024.
- Confirm that the page identifies the match as Switzerland–Germany, EURO 2024, June 23, 2024. Do not enter payment details on a page that promises an unrestricted “free IPTV” stream without identifying an authorized broadcaster.
What to avoid
Pirate streams, copied social-media broadcasts, suspicious IPTV directories and unofficial embedded players are not reliable alternatives. They may violate copyright rules, disappear without warning, expose viewers to deceptive advertising or malware, and collect payment or account information under false pretences.
