Amazon Prime Video keeps the exclusive top-pick Tuesday match, so Paramount will not show every game, and its UK price and final delivery platform remain unconfirmed.
The announcement changes the UK broadcast landscape, but it does not move the Champions League worldwide to Paramount. The rights cycle is specific to the United Kingdom and starts with the 2027/28 season.
Key takeaways
- Paramount has won the majority of UK Champions League rights for four seasons: 2027/28, 2028/29, 2029/30 and 2030/31.
- Amazon Prime Video retains the exclusive top-pick Tuesday Champions League match in the UK through the 2030/31 season.
- Paramount therefore will not be the sole UK broadcaster of every Champions League match.
- Paramount’s UK package, consumer platform, subscription price and any free-to-air arrangement have not been confirmed in the available reporting.
- Sky Sports will separately show every UK Europa League and Conference League match from 2027/28.
What does Paramount’s Champions League rights deal cover?
Paramount has won the majority of the United Kingdom’s Champions League broadcasting rights for four seasons beginning with the 2027/28 competition. The deal covers the 2027/28, 2028/29, 2029/30 and 2030/31 seasons, making Paramount the lead UK broadcaster for most Champions League coverage during that cycle. BBC Sport’s rights report, published on November 20, 2025, describes Paramount as the majority or lead broadcaster.
The agreement is a UK rights allocation, not a worldwide move of the Champions League to Paramount. Football broadcasting rights are negotiated territory by territory, so the UK arrangement should not be used to describe Paramount’s position in the United States or any other country.

Will Paramount show every Champions League game in the UK?
No. Paramount is set to show the majority of UK Champions League matches, but Amazon Prime Video retains one important part of the package: the exclusive top-pick Tuesday match in each match round through 2030/31.
Amazon’s official announcement confirms a four-year extension for its UK Champions League coverage and says the top-pick Tuesday match will remain available exclusively on Prime Video. For viewers who want that specific match, Amazon Prime Video’s Tuesday Champions League match remains relevant from the 2027/28 season. Prime Video should not, however, be described as the home of the complete competition.
Amazon also says that its first UK Champions League season reached more than 13 million viewers. That is an Amazon-published audience claim from 2025, rather than an independently presented industry total. Amazon’s Alex Green, Managing Director of Prime Video Sport, International, described the renewal by saying: “This is an important moment for our service and fantastic news for our Prime members in the UK, securing the biggest games in European football through to 2031.”
| UK rights package | Broadcaster | Coverage | Rights period |

| Europa League | Sky Sports | Every match | From 2027/28 |
| Conference League | Sky Sports | Every match | From 2027/28 |
Where can UK viewers watch the Champions League from 2027?
Most UK Champions League matches are expected to be carried through Paramount’s eventual consumer offering, while Amazon Prime Video will carry the exclusive top Tuesday pick. The exact way Paramount will deliver its matches has not yet been announced.

Available reporting has not established whether Paramount’s coverage will be on Paramount+, bundled into an existing subscription, sold through a dedicated football package or distributed through another platform. The reporting also identified Channel 5 as a possible route for the Champions League final, but no Channel 5 arrangement was confirmed in the available evidence.

That means viewers should not yet assume a Paramount+ subscription is confirmed as the required product, and they should not rely on a particular monthly price, device list or free-to-air schedule. Those details need to come from a later announcement by Paramount, UEFA or the relevant UK broadcaster.
Do I need Paramount, Amazon and Sky to watch all European football?
Possibly, depending on what “all European football” means. From 2027/28, the known UK allocation splits the major UEFA men’s club competitions across three services: Paramount has the majority Champions League package, Amazon has the top Tuesday Champions League pick, and Sky Sports has every Europa League and Conference League match.
A viewer interested only in most Champions League matches will need to follow Paramount’s eventual UK package. A viewer who also wants Amazon’s best Tuesday match will need access to Prime Video under the announced arrangement. A viewer seeking every Europa League and Conference League fixture will need to consider Sky Sports separately.
| Viewer’s priority | Relevant UK service | What is confirmed | What is not confirmed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Most Champions League matches | Paramount | Paramount won the majority of rights from 2027/28 through 2030/31. | The final consumer package, platform and price. |
| Top Tuesday Champions League match | Amazon Prime Video | Amazon retains the exclusive top-pick match through 2030/31. | Any change to the broader Prime membership terms before the rights period begins. |
| Every Europa League match | Sky Sports | Sky announced all UK rights from 2027/28. | Future pricing and packaging details. |
| Every Conference League match | Sky Sports | Sky announced all UK rights from 2027/28. | Future pricing and packaging details. |
Sky’s official rights announcement confirms that its package covers every Europa League and Conference League match. Sky’s confirmed deal should not be confused with the principal Champions League package: Sky has not been identified in the available reporting as the new UK home of most Champions League games.
How does the 2027/28 rights cycle fit around the 2027 final?
The new Paramount-led UK rights cycle begins with the 2027/28 season, so it does not automatically establish who will broadcast the 2026/27 Champions League final. UEFA’s official competition guide schedules the 2026/27 final for Saturday, June 5, 2027, at Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano, subject to change.

The scheduled final date falls before the 2027/28 season begins. It should therefore be treated as context for the transition, not as a confirmed Paramount UK broadcast date. UEFA’s 2026/27 competition schedule is the source for the date and venue.
Who controls the Champions League broadcasting rights?
UEFA controls the competition’s commercial rights and exploits the media rights, excluding qualifying-phase matches, under the Champions League regulations. Paramount’s deal is therefore best understood as a rights award made within UEFA’s commercial framework, rather than as a club or broadcaster independently owning the competition.

What has not been announced yet?
- Paramount’s exact UK platform: The available reporting does not confirm whether the matches will be on Paramount+, another Paramount package or a partner platform.
- Paramount pricing: No confirmed UK Champions League subscription price or bundle price is available in the supplied evidence.
- Free-to-air coverage: Channel 5 was discussed as a possible route for the final, but no arrangement was confirmed.
- Device and app availability: Viewers should wait for an official product announcement before assuming which televisions, streaming devices or apps will be supported.
- Commercial referral terms: Availability of eligible UK subscription affiliate programmes for Paramount+ or Prime Video was not verified in the research.
The safest consumer conclusion is therefore conditional: Paramount will be the lead UK broadcaster for most Champions League matches from 2027/28, but the product viewers will buy and the final price remain open questions.

- Do not cancel an existing service solely because of this announcement. The new rights begin with 2027/28, not the 2026/27 competition.
- Keep Amazon Prime Video in your plans if the top Tuesday match matters. Amazon’s retained selection is separate from Paramount’s majority package.
- Wait for Paramount’s consumer announcement before choosing a subscription. A rights award does not by itself confirm Paramount+ pricing or distribution.
- Separate Champions League planning from Europa League and Conference League planning. Sky’s confirmed package covers those competitions, not the main Champions League allocation.
- Recheck the arrangements before the 2027/28 season. Prices, bundles, platforms and selected match schedules are subject to later announcements.
What does the Paramount deal mean in plain English?
Paramount is becoming the main UK broadcaster for the Champions League for four seasons from 2027/28, but Paramount is not taking every match away from Amazon. Amazon keeps the best Tuesday match in each round, while Sky separately takes every Europa League and Conference League match. The biggest unanswered question is not who won the rights; it is how Paramount will package and price the coverage for UK viewers.
