TuneMyMusic is the best default for most playlist transfers between major streaming services. Soundiiz is better for complex libraries and synchronization, FreeYourMusic is the strongest cross-device app, SongShift is the focused iPhone and iPad choice, and Playlisty is useful for Spotify-to-Apple-Music transfers. First check the destination service’s own importer, because Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Spotify now support selected transfer routes.
These tools copy playlist and library data; they do not move music files or guarantee identical recordings. Catalog differences, regional licensing, alternate editions, and unsupported content mean you should test one playlist and review the match report before migrating your entire library.
Short answer: For most people, TuneMyMusic is the best default for moving playlists between major streaming services in a browser. It supports the biggest services, lets you transfer selected playlists or a broader library, and offers a free allowance of up to 500 tracks. Choose Soundiiz for advanced library management and synchronization, FreeYourMusic for a native Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android app, SongShift for an iPhone or iPad-focused workflow, and Playlisty when the specific job is moving Spotify music into Apple Music.
Before choosing a third-party tool, check whether the destination service already offers an import workflow. Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Spotify now cover some common routes themselves. Whichever method you use, the result is a catalog match: it copies playlist and library information, not ownership of the music, downloaded files, or your subscription. Some tracks will need manual review.

| SongShift | iPhone and iPad users | Basic app is free; Pro starts at $6.99 per month according to its current FAQ | Primarily an Apple-device experience with a narrower supported-service list |
| Playlisty | Spotify-to-Apple-Music transfers | One-time Pro purchase is advertised; verify the current price | Specialized rather than a universal multi-service transfer platform |
| Built-in service transfers | Routes supported directly by Apple Music, YouTube Music, or Spotify | Account and subscription requirements vary | Usually one-time imports with limited source, playlist, or content coverage |
Important: Free limits, prices, supported services, and regional availability change. Treat the figures above as a buying guide rather than a permanent price list, and check the provider’s current page before starting a large migration.
Choose the destination before choosing the tool
The destination determines which transfer methods are available. Start with the service you plan to keep, then look for its native import feature. This can be simpler than creating a separate account with a third-party tool, although first-party workflows are not necessarily more complete.
Moving music into Apple Music
Apple Music has a transfer workflow for bringing saved music and playlists from other services into Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web. Apple says an Apple Music subscription is required. The exact content that can be imported depends on the source service, and unmatched music can be reviewed and replaced with alternate versions from Apple Music’s catalog. The source service is not altered.
This is a good first option for a straightforward move into Apple Music, but it does not mean every playlist, folder, collaborative list, or recording will arrive exactly as it appeared at the source. If the built-in route does not support your source or misses too much content, use TuneMyMusic, Soundiiz, FreeYourMusic, SongShift, or Playlisty according to your device and route.
Recommended Free Tools
Moving Apple Music playlists to YouTube Music
Apple provides a separate Apple Music-to-YouTube Music transfer through its Data and Privacy page. That route transfers playlists the user created, but it does not transfer music files, curated playlists, non-owned shared playlists, playlist folders, podcasts, audiobooks, or user-uploaded audio. It is a one-time transfer: later edits do not remain synchronized.
Moving music into YouTube Music
YouTube Music has an in-app option labeled Transfer playlists from other apps. Google says the workflow can import playlists, albums, artists, and tracks while leaving the original music on the source service. It does not automatically synchronize later changes, podcasts cannot be imported or exported through this workflow, and some source songs may not exist in the YouTube Music catalog.
For routes that YouTube Music’s built-in option does not cover, Google identifies TuneMyMusic and Soundiiz as third-party choices. Google also documents a Google Takeout route for copying user-created YouTube Music playlists to Apple Music. That Takeout process is a one-time copy, cannot select only a subset of playlists, and excludes curated playlists, liked-music playlists, non-owned collaborative playlists, podcasts, uploaded or private content, and tracks absent from the destination catalog.
Moving playlists into Spotify
Spotify has partnered with TuneMyMusic for an importer inside the Spotify mobile app. The documented path is Library > Import your music from other apps. You authenticate with the source service, then select the tracks or playlists to bring into Spotify.

Detailed recommendations
TuneMyMusic: best default web tool
Best default: TuneMyMusic. For a normal Spotify-to-Apple-Music, Apple-Music-to-Spotify, Spotify-to-YouTube-Music, or similar migration, the TuneMyMusic transfer tool is the easiest starting point. It runs in a browser and supports Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, TIDAL, Qobuz, SoundCloud, Beatport, Pandora, and other services.
TuneMyMusic can transfer an individual playlist, a selection of playlists, or an entire library. Its researched free allowance covers up to 500 tracks. Premium is required for unlimited transfers and additional features. That makes the free tier useful for testing a service and completing a small move, but not necessarily for a large library.
Its useful extras include CSV and TXT export, unmatched-track reporting, daily automatic synchronization, and cloud backup. Those features matter if the transfer is not a one-off event. A one-time copy will not follow later playlist edits unless you configure an applicable auto-sync feature.
TuneMyMusic also claims official integrations or partnerships with Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and TIDAL. That can make a common route smoother, but it does not eliminate catalog differences. A source track may still be unavailable, represented by a different edition, or matched to an alternate recording.
Soundiiz: best for power users and complex libraries
Best for power users: Soundiiz. If you need more than a simple playlist copy, the Soundiiz playlist converter is the stronger choice. It is designed for moving and managing playlists, favorite tracks, albums, artists, and other library data across a large range of services. Its pages list more than 40 supported services; one page lists 45, so check the current service directory for your exact route.
Soundiiz is particularly useful for curators who need exports, sorting, playlist joining, deduplication, batch operations, favorites management, or ongoing synchronization. It supports exports in CSV, TXT, XSPF, JSON, XML, and URL formats. Those formats also make it useful as a backup before you make changes to a streaming account.
The free plan is limited to one playlist at a time, with up to 200 tracks per playlist. The pricing page in the research lists Premium at $5 per month or $39 per year, and Creator at $9.50 per month or $75 per year. These are page values, not guarantees; verify them before paying.

It is also suitable as white elephant gifts for adult, stocking stuffers for men and women, Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, mothers day gifts, fathers day gifts,Valentine's Day,mens gifts, and various anniversary gifts for him.
Soundiiz describes transfers as a copy process: the source playlist and library are not deleted or modified. Matching still depends on metadata and the destination catalog, so a successful job can contain alternate versions or missing tracks. Choose Soundiiz over TuneMyMusic when administration, exports, batch work, or multiple synchronization jobs matter more than the simplest interface.
FreeYourMusic: best cross-device app
Best for native apps: FreeYourMusic. Choose the FreeYourMusic app if you want the same transfer tool on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android rather than a browser-only workflow. The company says it supports more than 20 services and uses each service’s official sign-in flow.
FreeYourMusic preserves playlist titles and order and can transfer liked songs, albums, and followed artists in addition to playlists. It also advertises synchronization and cloud backup. Its free tier allows up to 600 songs, while Premium unlocks unlimited moves. If avoiding a recurring subscription is important, inspect the current plan terms before buying because pricing and purchase options can change.
The app distinguishes between matched, missing, and failed items and provides rematching tools. That is a useful sign that the transfer should be treated as a reviewable migration, not an automatic guarantee that every song will be identical. FreeYourMusic is a strong choice when device coverage, a native interface, or broader library data matters most.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSongShift: best iPhone and iPad-focused option
Best for Apple-device users: SongShift. SongShift for iPhone offers a focused source-to-destination workflow for playlists, albums, and songs, and it also runs on iPad. It does not modify the source library.
Its FAQ lists Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, SoundCloud, Pandora, Napster, Qobuz, Audiomack, Last.fm, Discogs, and Hype Machine. Last.fm, Discogs, and Hype Machine are source-only in that list, leaving 11 listed services that can act as destinations. Confirm that both your source and destination are supported in the direction you need.
The basic app is free. Pro starts at $6.99 per month according to the current FAQ and adds features such as SpeedMatch, batch setup, ongoing sync monitoring, file transfers, and unlimited service connections. SongShift is less suitable if you need Linux, Windows, or Android support, or if your services fall outside its comparatively narrow list.
Playlisty: best for Spotify to Apple Music
Best for one narrow route: Playlisty. Playlisty for Apple Music is aimed at copying Spotify playlists, liked tracks, albums, and artists into Apple Music. Its App Store listing describes a preview-and-amend workflow for reviewing matches, Siri Shortcuts synchronization, and a one-time Pro purchase rather than a subscription.

That specialization is its advantage and its limitation. Playlisty can be an attractive choice when the job is specifically Spotify to Apple Music and you want to inspect the matches before committing. It should not be treated as a universal replacement for a multi-service tool: the available evidence does not establish broad support for every source-and-destination combination.
How to transfer a playlist without creating a mess
- Audit the source first. Remove duplicates, rename ambiguous playlists, and check whether important tracks are local files, podcasts, uploads, or collaborative playlists. These categories often cannot be copied through first-party workflows.
- Confirm the destination account. Some native features require an active subscription, such as Apple Music’s incoming transfer workflow. Make sure you are signed into the destination account that should receive the playlists.
- Check support in the correct direction. A tool may list a service as supported without allowing it to be both a source and a destination. This matters especially for SongShift, where Last.fm, Discogs, and Hype Machine are source-only in the listed service set.
- Use the service’s official sign-in screen. Do not type a streaming password into an unfamiliar form. Review the permissions requested by the transfer tool and cancel if the access is broader than you expect.
- Start with one small playlist. Pick a playlist containing a mixture of popular tracks, older songs, explicit versions, live recordings, and less common artists. This exposes matching problems before you spend a transfer allowance or begin a large job.
- Review the match report. Look for unmatched items, duplicates, alternate editions, clean versions replacing explicit tracks, remasters replacing originals, and live or acoustic recordings replaced by studio versions.
- Run the full transfer. Once the test looks correct, move the remaining playlists or library categories. Keep the source service active until verification is complete.
- Verify the destination. Check playlist titles, order, track count, albums, artists, and several tracks at the beginning, middle, and end of each important playlist. Do not rely only on a completion message.
- Export or back up where possible. Soundiiz and TuneMyMusic offer export or backup features, and other tools may offer cloud backup. A text or structured export gives you a recovery reference if a playlist is accidentally changed later.
- Configure synchronization only if you need it. A transfer is normally a snapshot. Enable an applicable sync feature in TuneMyMusic, Soundiiz, FreeYourMusic, or SongShift if you want later changes copied, and check whether that feature requires a paid plan.
What actually transfers—and what does not
Usually transferred
- Playlist names and track lists.
- Playlist order, where the tool supports preserving it.
- Albums, artists, liked songs, or followed artists when the selected service and plan support those categories.
- Some playlist metadata, depending on the tool and destination.
Usually not transferred automatically
- Music files or downloads. A transfer does not move the underlying audio files or ownership rights. Apple explicitly excludes music files from its Apple Music-to-YouTube Music route.
- Subscriptions. Moving a playlist does not create or cancel a subscription at the destination.
- Exact recordings. A destination may contain a different album edition, remaster, clean version, radio edit, live take, or regional release.
- Podcasts and audiobooks. YouTube Music’s in-app workflow does not import or export podcasts. Apple’s Apple Music-to-YouTube-Music route excludes podcasts and audiobooks.
- Curated or non-owned playlists. Google’s documented routes exclude curated playlists and non-owned collaborative playlists. Apple’s Apple Music-to-YouTube-Music route also excludes non-owned shared playlists and playlist folders.
- Uploaded, private, or unavailable tracks. Google Takeout excludes uploaded and private content, and tracks missing from the destination catalog cannot be recreated there.
The distinction is important: a playlist is generally a set of references to catalog items. Transfer tools try to find equivalent references in another catalog; they are not copying a personal music collection from one server to another.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why songs go missing or change versions
Matching systems usually compare metadata such as title, artist, album, duration, and identifiers where available. The two services may describe the same recording differently, or one service may not license it in your country. A song can therefore be marked unmatched even when you know it exists somewhere else.
Common problems include:
- Different spellings, punctuation, featured-artist credits, or translated titles.
- Deluxe, anniversary, remastered, or compilation editions with similar names.
- Live, acoustic, instrumental, karaoke, remix, or radio versions being confused with the album recording.
- Explicit and clean editions being treated as separate catalog items.
- Regional licensing differences and tracks removed after the source playlist was created.
- Local files, uploads, private recordings, and other content that never belonged to the public destination catalog.
Use the tool’s rematch, preview, or amend function where available. Apple Music provides a review-and-alternate workflow for unmatched music, while FreeYourMusic reports matched, missing, and failed states and provides rematching tools. For especially important playlists, manually search every unmatched track rather than accepting the first similarly named result.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →One-time transfer or ongoing synchronization?
A one-time transfer is the right choice when you are permanently switching services, want to copy a few playlists, or are testing a new destination. It is also the safest way to avoid unintentionally overwriting or duplicating later edits.
Synchronization is useful when you will keep using both services—for example, when one service is used for discovery and another is used for a family account, DJ preparation, or a different device ecosystem. TuneMyMusic, Soundiiz, FreeYourMusic, and SongShift offer synchronization-related features on applicable plans. Check the direction, frequency, conflict behavior, and pricing before enabling it.
Do not assume a built-in transfer keeps running. Apple and Google describe their relevant transfer routes as one-time operations, and Google specifically says later changes are not automatically synchronized. The same applies to the Apple Music-to-YouTube-Music Data and Privacy transfer and the Google Takeout copy.
Privacy and account-safety checklist
- Prefer an official sign-in or authorization flow for each streaming service.
- Read the permissions screen before approving access to playlists, library data, or account information.
- Use the smallest number of connected services necessary for the job.
- After the transfer, review connected-app settings in your music accounts and revoke access you no longer need.
- Keep the source account active until you have checked the destination.
- Be cautious with third-party support claims. Google notes that third-party providers are responsible for their own services and that Google does not guarantee their quality or resolve disputes involving them.
- Do not assume that a transfer tool’s access to playlists also gives it permission to move downloads or private files; those items generally are not transferable through catalog-copy workflows.
Which tool should you use for your route?
| Your situation | Best starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Spotify to Apple Music | Apple Music’s incoming transfer, then Playlisty or TuneMyMusic if needed | Apple’s native workflow is the simplest supported route; Playlisty is specialized for this exact move, while TuneMyMusic is broader. |
| Apple Music to Spotify | TuneMyMusic or Soundiiz | There is no equivalent Apple-to-Spotify native route documented here; the web tools are more flexible. |
| Spotify to YouTube Music | YouTube Music’s in-app importer or TuneMyMusic | Start with the destination’s built-in option; use TuneMyMusic for broader selection, exports, or synchronization. |
| Apple Music to YouTube Music | Apple’s Data and Privacy transfer | It is a documented first-party route, but it excludes several playlist and content types and does not sync later changes. |
| YouTube Music to Apple Music | Google Takeout or Apple Music’s incoming transfer | Google Takeout is a documented one-time copy but cannot select a subset of playlists; compare it with Apple Music’s current incoming workflow. |
| Amazon Music, Deezer, TIDAL, Qobuz, SoundCloud, Beatport, or Pandora routes | TuneMyMusic or Soundiiz | Both have broad support for major and specialist services; confirm the exact direction before starting. |
| Large library with favorites, artists, exports, or many sync jobs | Soundiiz | Its batch, management, export, and synchronization features are more important than a minimal interface. |
| One app across desktop and mobile operating systems | FreeYourMusic | It supports Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android and handles more than playlists. |
| iPhone or iPad with supported services | SongShift | Its native Apple-device workflow is focused and simple. |
Bottom line
Use the destination’s built-in importer first when it supports your route and content. Otherwise, start with TuneMyMusic for a normal cross-service playlist move. Pick Soundiiz when you are managing a large or complicated library, FreeYourMusic when you want a native app across multiple operating systems, SongShift when you are working mainly on an iPhone or iPad, and Playlisty when the job is specifically Spotify to Apple Music.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do playlist-transfer tools move the actual music files?
Usually no. Transfer tools copy playlist and library metadata and match those items to the destination catalog. They do not transfer downloaded music files, ownership rights, or subscriptions. Apple explicitly excludes music files from its Apple Music-to-YouTube Music route.
Will changes to my old playlists sync automatically?
Not necessarily. A transfer is usually a one-time copy. Apple and Google state that their documented routes do not automatically synchronize later edits. TuneMyMusic, Soundiiz, FreeYourMusic, and SongShift offer synchronization features on applicable plans.
Will transferring playlists delete them from the old music service?
The source library generally remains intact. Apple, Google, Soundiiz, and SongShift describe their relevant workflows as copies or transfers that do not modify the source. Keep the old account active until you have verified the destination.
