How to Watch Every Grinch Movie Online: What Peacock Has Now

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There are three major Grinch screen adaptations: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), and The Grinch (2018). Peacock has carried all three at different times, but it is not currently safe to assume that all three are available together. Peacock’s current title page directly confirms the 1966 special; the 2000 and 2018 films require a fresh catalog check or a digital rental, purchase, or disc.

This availability guide is for the U.S. and reflects the research check dated August 11, 2026. Streaming rights change, so search for the exact title in the Peacock app before subscribing specifically for one of the feature films.

Which Grinch movies can you watch on Peacock?

Here is the current, title-by-title picture. The distinction between the 1966 special and the two feature films matters: they are separate productions, and finding one in Peacock’s search results does not confirm that the others are included.

Title Format Peacock status checked August 11, 2026 Other legal options
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Animated TV special, 1966; about 30 minutes; TV-G Directly confirmed available on Peacock. A Peacock account is required to start streaming. Peacock
How the Grinch Stole Christmas Live-action movie, 2000; about 105 minutes; PG An older Peacock holiday article included it in a three-film lineup, but the former title URL now redirects to a general movie-collection page. Do not treat Peacock access as guaranteed. Rent or buy digitally; DVD and Blu-ray listings
The Grinch Illumination animated movie, 2018; about 86 minutes; PG An older Peacock article included it in the same lineup, but the former title URL now redirects to a general movie-collection page. Do not promise current Peacock access without checking the app. Rent or buy digitally; DVD and Blu-ray listings

Bottom line on Peacock: the 1966 special is the strongest current match. Peacock previously promoted a triple feature containing the 1966, 2000, and 2018 titles, but that older editorial claim is not enough to establish that the two feature films remain in the live catalog.

#1 Best Overall

The three Grinch movies, explained

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966)

Chuck Jones and Ben Washam directed this approximately 30-minute animated television special, with Boris Karloff providing the narration and the Grinch’s voice. It is the most direct screen adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s book and the shortest option for a family viewing session.

Peacock’s current title page identifies it as a 1966 holiday movie, rates it TV-G, and labels it available now on Peacock. You still need a Peacock account to begin watching. Because it is a half-hour special rather than a feature film, search for the full title and the year if the app returns several Grinch results.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Ron Howard’s live-action adaptation stars Jim Carrey as the Grinch, Taylor Momsen as Cindy Lou Who, Jeffrey Tambor as Mayor Augustus Maywho, Christine Baranski as Martha May Whovier, and Molly Shannon as Betty Lou Who. At roughly 105 minutes, it is the longest of the three core versions.

Peacock’s November 6, 2025 holiday article described the Jim Carrey film as available and presented it as part of a triple feature. However, the old Peacock title URL no longer behaves like a live title page, and the U.S. availability check dated August 11, 2026 listed the movie for digital rental or purchase through Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. That check listed no free streaming option.

Accordingly, the accurate answer is: Peacock has offered the 2000 movie, possibly seasonally, but current access must be verified immediately before watching.

The Grinch (2018)

This is the Illumination animated feature directed by Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney. It runs approximately 86 minutes and is rated PG. It should not be confused with the 1966 special: use the year and the word “animated” when searching.

The 2018 movie features a new rendition of the Grinch theme by Tyler, the Creator. Peacock’s older holiday article included it in the three-film lineup, but its former title URL now redirects to a general movie collection rather than a current title page.

The August 11, 2026 U.S. availability check listed The Grinch (2018) for rental or purchase through Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and FlixFling. It also listed DVD and Blu-ray purchase options, including listings from Amazon, GRUV, and Barnes & Noble. No free streaming option was listed in that check.

Which Peacock plan do you need?

Peacock’s plan descriptions list Premium as including TV, movies, sports, and more with ads. The listed price at the time of the research check was $10.99 per month or $109.99 per year.

Premium Plus was listed at $16.99 per month or $169.99 per year and includes movies and other programming without ads, subject to limited exceptions. Neither plan guarantees that every Grinch title will be available: a subscription tier affects access to the service and advertising, while licensing determines whether a specific movie is in the catalog.

Do not choose Select for this watchlist. Peacock describes Select as excluding movies, so it should not be presented as sufficient for watching the Grinch films or the 1966 special. Prices, plan names, and catalog contents can change.

If the 1966 special is the title you need, check Peacock Premium rather than the Select tier, which excludes movies. If you need the 2000 or 2018 film specifically, verify its presence first instead of subscribing on the assumption that an older holiday article is still current.

Best order for a Grinch movie marathon

For most families, the clearest order is chronological release order:

  1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966) — start with the approximately 30-minute television special.
  2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) — continue with the live-action Jim Carrey feature.
  3. The Grinch (2018) — finish with the modern Illumination animated movie.

This sequence shows how the story moved from a compact television special to a live-action feature and then to a contemporary animated feature. If younger viewers need a shorter introduction, begin with the 1966 special and then choose one feature: the 2000 version for live action or the 2018 version for animation.

What to do if Peacock does not have the movie

The researched alternatives are legitimate rental, purchase, and physical-media options—not free unauthorized streams.

  • For the 2000 movie: the U.S. check dated August 11, 2026 listed Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home for digital rental or purchase, along with DVD and Blu-ray listings.
  • For the 2018 movie: the same check listed Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and FlixFling for digital rental or purchase, plus DVD and Blu-ray listings.
  • For ownership: physical discs can be useful when a holiday favorite repeatedly moves between streaming services. Check the year carefully so you do not buy the 1966 special when you wanted the 2000 or 2018 feature.

How to avoid the most common Grinch search mistakes

“The Grinch” may mean two different productions

The 1966 title is How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, while the 2018 feature is simply The Grinch. Adding the year is the quickest way to distinguish them.

The 2000 and 2018 films are not confirmed by an old Peacock article

Peacock’s November 2025 article is useful evidence that the service promoted all three titles together at that time. It is not a live catalog guarantee now, particularly because the old title links for the two feature films redirect elsewhere.

“Available to watch” is not the same as “included with every plan”

Even when a title is in Peacock’s catalog, plan restrictions may apply. Select excludes movies, while Premium and Premium Plus are the relevant tiers described for movie access. Ad-free viewing under Premium Plus also does not change licensing availability.

A rental or purchase is not free streaming

The current U.S. checks for the 2000 and 2018 films listed rental and purchase paths but no free streaming option. Use “rent,” “buy,” or “own on disc” when describing those alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all three Grinch movies currently on Peacock?

Not reliably. Peacock directly confirms the 1966 special on its current title page. Peacock previously promoted the 1966, 2000, and 2018 titles together, but the older title pages for the 2000 and 2018 films now redirect to general movie collections. Check the Peacock app before subscribing or planning a triple feature.

What are the three main Grinch movies?

They are How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966), the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), and the Illumination animated feature The Grinch (2018).

Which Grinch version is the shortest?

The 1966 animated television special is approximately 30 minutes. The 2018 animated feature runs about 86 minutes, and the 2000 live-action movie runs about 105 minutes.

Does Peacock Select include the Grinch movies?

Peacock describes Select as excluding movies, so it should not be treated as sufficient for this watchlist. Premium and Premium Plus are the movie-inclusive tiers described in the current plan information, although neither guarantees that every Grinch title is licensed at a particular time.

Where can I watch the 2000 or 2018 Grinch movie if Peacock does not have it?

The U.S. availability check dated August 11, 2026 listed digital rental or purchase options for both films. The 2000 movie was listed through Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. The 2018 movie was listed through Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and FlixFling. DVD and Blu-ray options were also listed.

The Bottom Line

The safest Peacock plan is to treat the 1966 special as the currently confirmed title and the 2000 and 2018 films as availability checks, not promises. Watch the three in release order—1966, 2000, then 2018—or start with the short 1966 special and choose the live-action or animated feature that suits your household. If a feature has left Peacock, rent or buy it digitally or choose a correctly labeled DVD or Blu-ray.
