WWE reported that 70,347 fans attended at Lucas Oil Stadium. The company also said the event set internal records for a single-night-event gate, viewership, merchandise, sponsorship, and social performance. Those business figures are WWE-reported corporate claims, not independently audited figures, so they should be read in that context.
The advertised Royal Rumble 2025 match card
The principal card contained four matches: two 30-person Royal Rumble matches and two championship bouts.

- Dynamic Posing! Fans can recreate signature moves with 14 points of articulation.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match
The men’s field included a concentration of WrestleMania-level names, among them Jey Uso, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and Seth Rollins. The format gave every entrant a direct route to a world-title opportunity at WrestleMania, making the match especially difficult to predict.
Women’s Royal Rumble Match
The women’s match featured Charlotte Flair, Bayley, IYO SKY, Bianca Belair, and other announced and surprise entrants. Charlotte’s expected return was one of the major storylines surrounding the match and made her a natural candidate for victory.
Undisputed WWE Championship Ladder Match
Cody Rhodes (champion) vs. Kevin Owens. Rather than winning by pinfall or submission, the competitors had to climb the ladder and retrieve the championship. The match placed Rhodes’s title reign and Owens’s increasingly personal challenge at the center of the card.
WWE Tag Team Championship — two-out-of-three falls
#DIY (champions) vs. Motor City Machine Guns. The champions and challengers wrestled under two-out-of-three-falls rules, adding a longer competitive structure to the tag-team title match.
Royal Rumble 2025 predictions before the event
These were pre-event predictions, not the results. WWE’s January 31 prediction feature selected Charlotte Flair as its leading women’s pick. In the men’s discussion, WWE listed Seth “Freakin” Rollins first among its featured candidates, with Roman Reigns, John Cena, and CM Punk also treated as serious possibilities.
Why Charlotte Flair was a logical prediction
Charlotte’s anticipated return gave her an unusually clear path into the WrestleMania picture. A Rumble victory would have immediately positioned her for a championship match, while her history and status made the choice feel credible without requiring a complicated explanation.
Why the men’s match was harder to call
The men’s match was crowded with established main-event options. Rollins, Reigns, Cena, and Punk each had a plausible WrestleMania direction, while Jey Uso had strong momentum and a compelling opportunity to move from popular upper-card performer to singles title challenger. That crowded field was precisely why the prediction was less straightforward than the women’s match.
WWE’s prediction article was an editorial feature. It was not a betting market and did not establish that any result was predetermined. In hindsight, Charlotte matched the leading prediction, while the men’s result was less obvious than the cluster of favorites emphasized before the show.

Jey Uso won the Men’s Royal Rumble
Jey Uso outlasted the other 29 competitors to win the men’s match and secure a world-championship opportunity at WrestleMania. The result was a major career milestone: it rewarded Jey’s sustained popularity while giving the WrestleMania season a challenger who was not simply one of the most frequently mentioned veteran favorites.

- Roll down to the ring with the Lucha Low Rider vehicle.
- Includes a WWE Main Event Rey Mysterio action figure with advanced articulation.
- Recreate iconic entrances with the Lucha Low Rider hydraulics action.
- Rey Mysterio can enter the match with the vehicle's launching action.
- Ride into matches with real rolling wheels.
The match began with Rey Mysterio at No. 1 and Penta at No. 2. Bron Breakker recorded an early elimination and later delivered a spear to streamer iShowSpeed, who entered as a replacement for Akira Tozawa after Carmelo Hayes attacked Tozawa. Those moments supplied the match’s most widely discussed surprises, but the decisive outcome was Jey Uso’s victory.
Charlotte Flair won the Women’s Royal Rumble
Charlotte Flair won the Women’s Royal Rumble and earned a championship opportunity at WrestleMania. Her victory confirmed the most prominent pre-event prediction and immediately placed her in the center of the women’s title picture.
Cody Rhodes retained against Kevin Owens
Cody Rhodes defeated Kevin Owens in the Undisputed WWE Championship Ladder Match. Rhodes therefore left Indianapolis as champion, while Owens failed to capture the title in the dangerous ladder stipulation.
#DIY retained the WWE Tag Team Championship
#DIY defeated the Motor City Machine Guns in the two-out-of-three-falls match to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship. Both advertised championship matches consequently ended with the reigning champions keeping their belts.
What made Royal Rumble 2025 notable?
The show performed the central job of the Royal Rumble: it established two WrestleMania title challengers while advancing the championship stories already on the card. Charlotte Flair’s win was the expected-style conclusion to the women’s prediction conversation. Jey Uso’s victory provided the sharper contrast, because he emerged from a field packed with names such as Reigns, Cena, Punk, and Rollins.
The Indianapolis setting was also significant for scale. WWE said 70,347 fans attended and described the event as a record-setting night for the company across several commercial and digital categories. Since those broader records came from WWE’s own announcement, they should be attributed to WWE rather than presented as independently verified measurements.

WWE announced Netflix as the home for WWE programming outside the United States where available, including Premium Live Events such as Royal Rumble. However, streaming rights are territory-specific and can change. What Royal Rumble 2025 set up
- Jey Uso: a WrestleMania world-title opportunity after winning the men’s Rumble.
- Charlotte Flair: a WrestleMania championship opportunity after winning the women’s Rumble.
- Cody Rhodes: continued as Undisputed WWE Champion after overcoming Kevin Owens in the ladder match.
