What did Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit allege?

How did the federal indictment differ from the earlier lawsuit?
On September 17, 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced a three-count indictment charging racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The Department of Justice indictment announcement described alleged conduct spanning more than a decade and multiple states.

That distinction is essential. Saying that Combs was indicted on sex-trafficking and racketeering-conspiracy charges is accurate when attributed to the 2024 indictment. Saying that he was convicted of those charges is not supported by the cited official outcome summary.

According to the official SDNY case summary dated October 3, 2025, Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison after the two transportation-for-prostitution convictions. The sentence should not be described as punishment for a sex-trafficking conviction when the cited case summary identifies the transportation counts as the convictions.
In a separate DOJ statement on the verdict, the department credited the SDNY Civil Rights Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, digital-forensics personnel, the CASE Team, and NYPD partners. The statement described the prosecution as victim-centered; that is the government’s characterization of its work, not an independent finding about every allegation.
