Is Ang Mutya NG Section E based on a Wattpad book?
Yes. Ang Mutya NG Section E is based on Lara Flores’s Wattpad story, written under the name eatmore2behappy, rather than being an original television-only property. The screen version adapts the premise and characters for an episodic drama, but the available research does not establish that every scene follows the source material exactly.
A 2021 interview and report about Lara Flores described the story as having reached six million Wattpad readers at that time. That is a historical figure from the 2021 report, not a verified current readership total.
Flores also directly clarified the story’s status: Hindi s’ya true story or true happenings.
The statement is attributed to Lara Flores, the author, in the same 2021 report.

How are the book and series different?
The book and series share the same basic school-based setup, but they are different formats with different storytelling pressures. The Wattpad and print versions can develop the source material in serialized form, while the television adaptation must organize the story into episodes and foreground scenes that work on screen.
| Comparison | Source material | Television adaptation |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Wattpad serialization and print books | Episodic Filipino screen series |
| Story coverage | Long-form source narrative across associated installments | Selected and rearranged material shaped for television episodes |
| Character emphasis | Jay-Jay’s viewpoint and the developing relationships | Jay-Jay, Kiefer, and Yuri as the main on-screen triangle |
| Tone | School comedy and romance, with heavier developments in later material | School conflict, comedy, romance, and drama presented through episodes |
| Access | Wattpad history, PSICOM print editions, and digital-book platforms | Viva One and selected regional catalog listings |
Later associated installments include Ang Mutya ng Section E Part One, Ang Mutya ng Section E Part Two: The Dark Side, and Ang Mutya ng Section E Part Three: The Final Battle. The existence of those installments does not by itself prove how much of each book the television seasons cover.
