Red Dead Redemption came to mobile through Netflix Games on December 2, 2025. The release includes the complete original single-player campaign, Undead Nightmare, and Game of the Year Edition bonus content. It requires an active Netflix membership and a compatible iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
What launched
Red Dead Redemption arrived on compatible iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets through Netflix Games on December 2, 2025. This is a mobile-optimized version of the original 2010 western—not Red Dead Redemption 2, and not a remake.
The release brings the complete single-player Red Dead Redemption campaign to mobile, along with the standalone Undead Nightmare expansion and bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition. Access is tied to an active Netflix membership, so there is no separate game account and no extra in-game purchase for the game itself.
What is included in the Netflix version?
- The complete Red Dead Redemption campaign: Follow John Marston across the American West and Mexico.
- Undead Nightmare: The separate horror-themed expansion featuring an undead outbreak in the western frontier.
- Game of the Year Edition bonus content: Additional content packaged with the complete single-player release.
The game is a single-player experience. Multiplayer is not included. That limitation is easy to miss because the release contains a large amount of content, but the official console listing expressly identifies Red Dead Redemption as not featuring multiplayer content.

How Netflix access works
Netflix provides the entitlement to play the mobile game, while the game itself is downloaded as an app from the relevant app store. You need:
- An active Netflix membership
- A Netflix account and profile
- A compatible iPhone, iPad, Android phone, or Android tablet
- An internet connection for downloading and installing the game
- Enough free storage on the device
There is no separate game account to create and no extra in-game purchase required for access. Your progress is associated with the Netflix profile selected when you open the game, so use the same profile each time if more than one person shares the account.
Netflix’s mobile-games instructions direct players to open the Netflix app, find the Mobile Games row or search for the title, select Red Dead Redemption, and begin the installation. On Android, the download is handled through Google Play; on iPhone and iPad, it is handled through Apple’s App Store. You can also search for the title directly in the relevant store and then sign in through Netflix when launching it.
Compatible phones and tablets
Netflix lists the game for Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad. Its general Netflix Games guidance identifies Android 8 or later and iOS or iPadOS 15 or later as platform baselines. A separate Netflix requirements page recommends Android 9 and iOS/iPadOS 17 or later for the best overall experience.

The practical test is whether the game appears in your regional Netflix Games catalog or app store on an up-to-date device. There is no reliable universal list of supported phone models, storage requirements, frame-rate targets, or graphics settings established by the launch documentation.
Why it is described as mobile-friendly
Rockstar and Netflix describe the release as optimized for mobile devices, with controls and performance adapted for portable play. In practical terms, that means the game is designed around touch-oriented controls and shorter, more flexible play sessions than a traditional console setup.
“Mobile-friendly” does not mean every phone delivers identical graphics or performance. The available visual quality and smoothness can vary substantially between devices. It also does not establish a fixed frame rate, identical console settings, or universal support for third-party controllers.
Installation steps
- Update the Netflix app and your device’s operating system if updates are available.
- Open Netflix and choose the profile that should hold your game progress.
- Find Red Dead Redemption in the Mobile Games row, or search for it by name.
- Choose the option to install the game. You will be sent to Google Play on Android or the App Store on iPhone and iPad.
- Complete the download, open the game, and sign in through Netflix if prompted.
- Select the same Netflix profile used during installation or your previous session.
The game requires an internet connection for downloading and installation. The available documentation does not establish that the complete game can be played entirely offline, so players should not assume that downloading it guarantees offline access.
If Red Dead Redemption does not appear or will not install

Is there a console version?
Yes. Players who prefer a television and controller can use the separately distributed PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 edition. The PlayStation product includes the complete single-player experiences of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare, plus Game of the Year Edition bonus content.
This is a separate console route, not an automatic entitlement attached to the Netflix mobile release. The mobile edition requires an active Netflix membership; the console edition is obtained through the relevant console storefront or product channel. Buying or accessing one platform version should not be assumed to grant the other unless the current platform terms explicitly say so.

Is this Red Dead Redemption 2 on mobile?
No. The Netflix release is the original Red Dead Redemption, not Red Dead Redemption 2. It is a mobile-optimized version of the earlier game.
