HiAnime displayed a farewell message on March 13, 2026, and a later report described the service as shut down in June 2026. The exact final technical shutdown date remains unclear, and no current official replacement has been verified.
Short answer: Zoro.to was not simply renamed once. The documented chain was Zoro.to → Aniwatch.to in July 2023 → HiAnime/HiAnime.to in March 2024. HiAnime later disappeared in 2026. A farewell message appeared on March 13, 2026, while a later law-enforcement report described the service as having shut down in June 2026. The exact final technical shutdown date has not been consistently established.
That means websites currently using the Zoro, AniWatch, or HiAnime name should not automatically be treated as the original service. The last publicly documented official-domain notice said the known domains were offline and that other domains claiming to be HiAnime were unofficial.
The complete Zoro.to rebrand timeline
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| Before July 2023 | The service operated under the Zoro.to name as an unlicensed anime-streaming site. |
| July 2023 | Zoro.to transitioned to Aniwatch.to. The operators had already moved the service, while ACE and rightsholders took control of the old Zoro.to domain. |
| March 1, 2024 | Aniwatch rebranded as HiAnime. Users were redirected to the new HiAnime domain, and the operators said accounts and watchlists would remain unchanged. |
| March 13, 2026 | HiAnime displayed a farewell message: “It’s time to say goodbye. And thank you for a wonderful journey with great moments.” |
| June 2026 | A later report connected to a Vietnamese law-enforcement investigation described HiAnime as having shut down in June. This does not establish a more precise final date. |
| July 6, 2026 | Vietnamese authorities were reported to have arrested or prosecuted seven people allegedly connected with HiAnime and related piracy services. |
The rebrand sequence is documented by TorrentFreak’s account of the Aniwatch-to-HiAnime transition and by the U.S. Trade Representative’s 2025 Notorious Markets List, which describes HiAnime as the successor to Aniwatch and Zoro.to.

Did Zoro.to become Aniwatch?
Yes, broadly speaking—but that is only the first part of the story. Zoro.to became Aniwatch.to in July 2023. Aniwatch then became HiAnime in March 2024. The most accurate shorthand is therefore:
Zoro.to → Aniwatch.to → HiAnime.to → disappeared in 2026
It is misleading to say that Zoro.to simply changed its name to HiAnime overnight. There were two separate rebrands, and the original Zoro.to domain was no longer the service’s operating identity after the 2023 transition.
Why did Zoro.to change to Aniwatch?
The July 2023 change occurred amid action involving the Zoro.to domain. According to reporting at the time, ACE and rightsholders took control of Zoro.to, but the operators had already moved the service to Aniwatch.to. The available reporting does not establish every detail of the operators’ decision-making, so it is safer to describe this as a transition during domain and enforcement pressure rather than claim a single confirmed reason.
In March 2024, Aniwatch users were redirected to HiAnime. The operators publicly presented that change as a rebrand and stated that user accounts and watchlists would remain unchanged. That was why many users experienced HiAnime as the continuation of Aniwatch rather than as an unrelated website.
Was HiAnime officially shut down?
HiAnime is no longer operating through its documented official domains, but the exact shutdown sequence is less clear than some headlines suggest.
On March 13, 2026, the site displayed its farewell message. TorrentFreak described this as a shutdown-style announcement but reported that the operators did not give a detailed explanation. The message itself did not prove that authorities had permanently seized the service or identify a specific legal cause.

Later, on July 6, 2026, BleepingComputer reported that Vietnamese authorities had arrested and prosecuted seven people allegedly connected with HiAnime and related piracy services. That report described HiAnime as having shut down in June 2026. Consequently:
- March 13, 2026 is the verified date on which the farewell message was displayed.
- June 2026 is the later reported timeframe for the service’s shutdown.
- No precise final technical takedown date has been established by an operator statement in the available reporting.
- The farewell message alone does not prove that the site was legally seized on March 13.
What did the Vietnamese investigation allege?
The reported investigation concerned HiAnime and related piracy services. By July 6, 2026, Vietnamese authorities were reported to have arrested or prosecuted seven alleged participants: four were detained and three were placed under house arrest. Reported charges included copyright-related offenses and money laundering.
Authorities reportedly alleged that the operation:
- created more than 100 websites;
- uploaded more than 26,000 pirated anime films; and
- generated approximately $12.85 million in advertising revenue between 2020 and April 2026.
These figures are allegations reported in connection with the prosecution, not findings that should be presented as finally adjudicated facts. The details come from BleepingComputer’s report on the Vietnamese arrests.
Was Zoro.to a legal streaming service?
No. The U.S. Trade Representative categorized HiAnime as an unlicensed piracy site and said it offered unauthorized versions of movies and television programs, particularly anime. The same report identified HiAnime as the successor to Aniwatch and Zoro.to.
That classification applies to the service described in the cited reporting. It does not mean that every website using a similar name has the same ownership or technical connection. In fact, the available official-domain notice specifically warned that other domains claiming to be HiAnime were unofficial.
Are any official Zoro.to or HiAnime domains still working?
There is no verified current official Zoro.to domain. Zoro.to is defunct as the service’s official identity, and the later service operated under HiAnime rather than under the Zoro brand.
The last publicly documented list of domains associated with the official HiAnime service included:

hianime.tohianime.nzhianime.bzhianime.dohianime.pehianime.cxz.isz.tohianime.tv, later transitioning tohianime.me
This is a historical list, not a recommendation or a statement that the domains remain available. The community notice reported that all of those official domains were offline and that any other currently online domain claiming to be HiAnime was unofficial. It also said there was no verified information about a return. Because domains can be copied, redirected, parked, or taken over, a working page with a familiar logo is not proof that the original service has returned.
For that reason, readers should be especially cautious about clone sites that request account credentials, browser extensions, payment details, downloads, or notification permissions. The evidence does not support treating any currently online Zoro-, AniWatch-, or HiAnime-branded site as the original service.
Can you still access your old Zoro, Aniwatch, or HiAnime account?
There is no currently verifiable official login or account-recovery path to document. During the 2024 rebrand, the operators said that Aniwatch accounts and watchlists would carry over to HiAnime. That statement described the transition at the time; it does not establish that those accounts remain accessible after the 2026 disappearance.
Do not enter an old password into a newly discovered site claiming to restore your account. If you reused that password elsewhere, change it on the legitimate service where it is used and enable multifactor authentication where available.
Why are some Zoro or HiAnime websites still appearing in search results?
Search results can continue to show old pages, mirrors, clones, scraped listings, parked domains, and impersonation sites after a service disappears. A domain name is also not proof of continuity: unrelated operators can register or acquire similar domains, copy an interface, or claim to be an official replacement.
The last official-domain notice specifically distinguished the known historical domains from other sites currently making the same claim. Therefore, the safest conclusion is not that every accessible copy is a surviving mirror, but that no current replacement has been verified.

Bottom line
Zoro.to was rebranded as Aniwatch.to in July 2023, and Aniwatch was rebranded as HiAnime in March 2024. HiAnime later posted a farewell message on March 13, 2026, and was described in a subsequent Vietnamese law-enforcement report as having shut down in June 2026. The exact final technical shutdown date and the full reason for the farewell were not publicly established in a single definitive operator announcement.

As of August 7, 2026, Zoro.to has no verified official successor operating under the Zoro name, the documented HiAnime domains are reported offline, and other sites using those names should be treated as unofficial rather than as evidence that the original service is back.
