Ben Potter, the YouTube creator known as Comicstorian, died on June 8, 2024, in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Fort Collins, Colorado. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office ruled the manner of death accidental and listed the medical cause as blunt-force trauma to the head.
What happened to Ben Potter?
According to the Colorado State Patrol account reported at the time, Potter was driving southbound on Interstate 25 near Fort Collins at approximately 9:19 a.m. local time. His silver Toyota 4Runner left the right shoulder, crossed a frontage road, and rolled multiple times.
Potter was the vehicle’s only occupant. Authorities said he was wearing a seat belt, and he died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office investigated the death at 2237 SW Frontage Road in Fort Collins and identified Potter as a 40-year-old man from Windsor, Colorado.

What was Ben Potter’s official cause of death?
The coroner’s finding was blunt-force trauma to the head. The office performed a full forensic autopsy on June 10, 2024, at the Larimer County Forensic Sciences Center.
That medical finding should be distinguished from the circumstances that led to it. The rollover crash was the event in which Potter sustained the fatal injuries; the coroner’s cause-of-death designation describes the fatal physical injury itself. The coroner classified the manner of death as accidental.
Why did the crash happen?
The available reporting does not establish exactly why Potter’s vehicle left the roadway. In its initial account, the Colorado State Patrol said there were no apparent signs that impairment or excessive speed contributed to the crash. That was an early investigative finding, not a definitive explanation of the underlying cause.
