Where to watch Beauty in Black
Beauty in Black is a Netflix series. Netflix currently lists two seasons, and the complete second season is streaming. Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on August 27, 2026. Netflix has also renewed the series for Season 4. Availability and release timing can vary by region, so check Netflix for the current listing.
Spoiler warning: This guide covers major Season 1 and Season 2 plot developments, including Kimmie’s marriage to Horace, Glen’s death, the FBI raid, and the Season 2 ending.
Beauty in Black main cast and characters
The official Season 1 ensemble crosses several parts of the story: Kimmie’s club world, the Bellarie family and its hair-care empire, law enforcement, and the attorneys and employees pulled into the family’s schemes. Not every performer in the cast is a Bellarie relative.
Taylor Polidore Williams as Kimmie
Kimmie is the central protagonist. After her mother throws her out, she is left financially desperate and working as a dancer. Jules, who controls the security operation around the club, represents much of the danger she is trying to escape.

Kimmie’s ambitions extend beyond simply surviving from one crisis to the next. Season 1 establishes her interest in the Beauty in Black hair school and the business opportunities connected to the Bellarie operation. In Season 2, she moves from the edge of the organization to its center: she marries Horace, becomes the company’s chief operating officer, develops a business plan, and insists that the family treat her as a serious decision-maker.
Her rise changes the show’s central question. Kimmie is no longer only asking how to get out. She is trying to determine whether she can take control of the system that trapped her without being consumed by its violence and corruption.
Crystle Stewart as Mallory
Mallory runs the Beauty in Black hair-care operation and is one of the most powerful people in the story. She begins as Kimmie’s rival, with both women competing for influence and trying to protect themselves inside a hostile environment.
Mallory’s private life is less secure than her professional image suggests. Her marriage to Roy is publicly polished but privately hostile, and Roy’s infidelity and illegal shell companies create serious risks for her. Because the shell companies are placed in Mallory’s name, Roy’s criminal activity can expose her as well as him.

Season 2 gradually turns Mallory and Kimmie from direct rivals into strategic, uneasy allies. Mallory recognizes Kimmie’s intelligence and survival instincts, while Kimmie understands that Mallory has knowledge and authority she needs. Their cooperation is tactical rather than a complete restoration of trust.
Amber Reign Smith as Rain
Rain is Kimmie’s close friend and one of the people Kimmie repeatedly tries to protect. Her Season 2 storyline becomes increasingly violent after she survives a botched BBL and seeks revenge against Daga, the person who disfigures and nearly kills her.
Rain also becomes involved with Officer Alex. Their relationship connects the club-side story to law enforcement, but it does not erase the danger surrounding Rain. After Rain confronts Daga and Shake Shake, Alex shoots both of them.
Ricco Ross as Horace Bellarie
Horace is the Bellarie patriarch and Kimmie’s former client. Their relationship develops into marriage in Season 2, making Kimmie a direct member of the family she has been trying to navigate.

Horace is also the Bellarie most willing to recognize Kimmie’s business ability. While receiving experimental cancer treatment in Italy, he supports her ambitions, and the Season 2 ending states that doctors tell him the treatment is working. He returns to Chicago in time to support Kimmie and Mallory’s attempt to remove the other Bellaries from control of the business.
By the finale, Horace joins Kimmie and Mallory in turning state’s evidence. He announces that federal authorities have been called, leading to an FBI raid on the Bellarie office.

Debbi Morgan as Olivia
Olivia is Horace’s resentful ex-wife and the mother of Roy and Charles. She is fiercely protective of her sons and has access to a criminal cleanup organization capable of disposing of evidence and managing violent problems.
That protection comes at a cost. Olivia owes the organization money and is under severe financial pressure. Her influence therefore exists alongside vulnerability: she can help clean up the family’s crimes, but she is also indebted to people who can threaten her.
Richard Lawson as Norman
Norman is Horace’s brother and one of the Bellarie family’s destabilizing forces. His Season 1 story includes investigating the fallout from the hit-and-run, while Season 2 gives greater weight to his criminal dealings, grief, and conflict with Horace.
Norman is not simply another version of Horace. His presence exposes the competing interests within the Bellarie family and helps show why controlling the company is so difficult even for its patriarch.
Julian Horton as Roy
Roy is Horace and Olivia’s son, Mallory’s husband, and a major source of conflict in both the family and the marriage. He is entitled, unfaithful, and involved in illegal shell companies that are placed in Mallory’s name.
That arrangement leaves Mallory legally and financially exposed to conduct she does not control. Roy’s behavior is one of the main reasons Mallory becomes more willing to cooperate with Kimmie when the family’s power structure begins to shift.
Steven G. Norfleet as Charles
Charles is Horace and Olivia’s other son. Roy exposes Charles’s hidden relationship with attorney Varney, adding another layer of secrecy and family leverage to the Bellarie conflict.
Charles is also involved in a deadly robbery-related incident. After killing club employees, he relies first on Varney and then on Olivia to help dispose of the evidence. His storyline shows how the family’s legal and criminal networks work together when one of its members creates a crisis.
Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules
Jules is the Bellarie family’s head of security and Kimmie’s former boss. He controls much of the danger surrounding the club and represents the power Kimmie must overcome before she can become independent.
In Season 2, Jules’s personal motivation becomes more urgent. His son Glen suffers catastrophic injuries after falling from a window, and Jules becomes determined to discover what happened. He does not yet have proof connecting Kimmie’s group to Glen’s death, but his investigation is one of the main unresolved pressures leading into Season 3.
Terrell Carter as Varney
Varney is an attorney connected to Charles. He becomes entangled in Charles’s secret relationship and in the effort to cover up the killings following the robbery attempt. His role illustrates how the Bellaries’ legal resources become part of their broader criminal operation.
Bryan Tanaka as Officer Alex
Officer Alex is assigned by Jules to monitor Kimmie and the people around her. His relationship with Rain complicates that assignment and draws him further into the club-side conflict.
Alex ultimately shoots Daga and Shake Shake after Rain confronts them. His actions place him at the intersection of Rain’s attempt at revenge and the authorities’ involvement in the violence around the Bellarie organization.
Xavier Smalls as Angel
Angel is Kimmie’s friend and a club-connected employee who becomes involved in schemes to escape danger. In Season 2, he survives an attempted hit by playing dead, then hides at Horace’s home.

Supporting Season 1 cast
Netflix’s principal Season 1 cast listing also identifies the following performers and characters:
- Shannon Wallace as Calvin: A supporting member of the ensemble. The official cast material identifies his role but does not provide a fuller biography.
- Joy Rovaris as Gillian: A supporting character named in the principal cast announcement; the cited official material does not give a detailed character profile.
- Tamera “Tee” Kissen as Body: A club-connected supporting character.
- Ursula O. Robinson as Delinda: A supporting character identified in the official Season 1 cast listing.
- Ashley Versher as Lena: A supporting character identified in the official Season 1 cast listing.
Because the available official descriptions do not expand on Calvin, Gillian, Body, Delinda, or Lena, it is more accurate to identify them without inventing backstories or assigning them a larger role than the credited material supports.
Season 2 additions and expanded characters
Several players become especially important in Season 2. They should be treated as later additions or expanded roles rather than automatically described as part of the original principal Season 1 billing.

Bellarie family and relationship map
The family tree is complicated by marriages, former marriages, business partnerships, and criminal alliances. The essential relationships are:
- Horace Bellarie: The family patriarch, brother of Norman, former husband of Olivia, father of Roy and Charles, and Kimmie’s husband by the end of Season 2.
- Olivia: Horace’s ex-wife and the mother of Roy and Charles.
- Norman: Horace’s brother and a criminally involved member of the Bellarie family.
- Roy: Horace and Olivia’s son and Mallory’s husband.
- Charles: Horace and Olivia’s son, and Varney’s secret partner until Roy exposes the relationship.
- Mallory: Roy’s wife and the operator of the Beauty in Black hair-care business. She is not Horace and Olivia’s daughter.
- Kimmie: The outsider who enters the Bellarie orbit through the club, marries Horace, becomes COO, and helps expose the family operation.
- Jules: The head of Bellarie security and Kimmie’s former boss. He is also Glen’s father.
Major character arcs through Season 2
Kimmie’s move from survival to power
Kimmie starts as an outsider with little financial security or institutional protection. The club gives her income but also places her under Jules’s control. Her connection to the Bellaries creates a possible exit, but it also places her closer to the family’s criminal machinery.
Her interest in the Beauty in Black hair school becomes the first sign that she is planning a future beyond the club. By Season 2, that ambition becomes formal authority. As Horace’s wife and the company’s COO, Kimmie has a position from which she can propose a business plan and challenge the family’s assumptions about who deserves power.
Kimmie and Mallory: rivals become allies
Kimmie and Mallory do not suddenly become friends. Their alliance works because each woman needs something from the other. Kimmie brings ambition, adaptability, and a perspective from outside the Bellarie hierarchy. Mallory brings business knowledge, experience, and access to the organization’s internal workings.
Roy’s infidelity and shell companies push Mallory toward Kimmie, while Kimmie needs Mallory’s cooperation to make a larger move against the family. Their shared strategy is therefore practical and fragile. Trust remains incomplete even when their goals temporarily align.

Horace’s illness and return
Horace’s experimental cancer treatment in Italy creates both a personal and political absence. While he is away, Kimmie and Mallory must navigate the family’s competing factions. When Horace returns after doctors say the treatment is working, he is able to support their plan to remove the rest of the Bellaries from the business.
Rain, Glen, and Jules
Rain’s attempt to defend Sylvie has consequences that extend far beyond the immediate incident. Her push sends Glen through a window, and his eventual death transforms Jules’s pursuit of Kimmie’s group from a professional investigation into a personal one.

That information gap is important: Jules is dangerous, but his investigation is still unresolved rather than a completed exposure of Kimmie.
What happens at the end of Season 2?
The Season 2 finale produces the show’s most important power shift. Kimmie, Mallory, and Horace turn state’s evidence against the Bellarie operation. Horace announces that federal authorities have been called, and the FBI raids the Bellarie office.
The raid does not mean that every threat has disappeared. Kimmie and Mallory are cooperating, but their alliance remains tactical. Jules is still searching for the truth about Glen’s death. The remaining family, criminal, and law-enforcement pressures leave the story positioned for another struggle over whether Kimmie can hold the power she has gained.
Season 3 and Season 4 status
As of the latest information in this guide, Season 3 has not premiered. Netflix says Season 3 is scheduled to arrive on August 27, 2026, with Kimmie’s attempt to step fully into power at the center of the next chapter. The key question is whether she can maintain that power after the FBI raid and the family’s exposure.

Jules’s search for answers about Glen is another continuing storyline identified by Netflix. Until Season 3 premieres, its plot developments should be described as upcoming rather than as events that have already aired.
Netflix has also officially renewed Beauty in Black for Season 4. The series should not be labeled a limited series: Netflix currently documents two completed seasons, a scheduled third season, and a fourth season in development.
