Here is what the sightings and reporting show—and what remains speculation.
Short answer: Joe Burrow and Olivia Ponton appear to be romantically linked, and repeated sightings have led many outlets to describe them as a couple. But neither Burrow nor Ponton has publicly confirmed that they are dating. The most accurate description is that they are reportedly dating or are presumed partners—not that Ponton is Burrow’s confirmed girlfriend.
What is known about Joe Burrow and Olivia Ponton?
Burrow and Ponton have been publicly associated at several events and private outings from late 2024 through 2026. Their continued proximity, including appearances in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and around the Kentucky Derby, has made a romantic relationship seem plausible and widely reported.
However, public sightings are not the same as a relationship announcement. Neither person has posted a direct confirmation, given a clear statement identifying the other as a partner, or otherwise publicly defined their relationship in the sources reviewed. Ponton’s refusal to answer dating questions outside a Met Gala after-party was a nonconfirmation—not an admission.

Joe Burrow and Olivia Ponton dating timeline
| Date | What happened | What it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| December 2024 | Ponton was identified in coverage of a burglary at Burrow’s Ohio home. Some reports described her as being present at the property and, in some accounts, as a Burrow employee. | This established a connection between them, but it did not prove that they were romantically involved. |
| 2024–2025 | Entertainment and lifestyle outlets began describing Burrow and Ponton as privately or casually dating. | The reports fueled speculation, but neither person publicly confirmed the claim. |
| May 2025 | The pair were reportedly seen around the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. | The appearance added to the dating speculation rather than confirming it. |
| May 2025 | Outside a Met Gala after-party, Ponton did not answer paparazzi questions about whether she was dating Burrow. | Her silence should not be interpreted as a yes or no. |
| June 20, 2025 | E! reported that Burrow and Ponton appeared together during a New York City night out and were seen arriving at Ponton’s apartment in the early morning. | E! characterized the outing as making the romance more conspicuous, but there was still no direct statement from either person. |
| March 2026 | They were repeatedly spotted together in Los Angeles around the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. Sports Illustrated reported that Ponton supported Burrow from the sidelines, while TMZ separately linked them to an Oscars-related night out. | The repeated appearances suggested an ongoing association. |
| March 30, 2026 | TMZ reported that Burrow arrived at a Los Angeles pool party with Ponton beside him and referred to her as his “presumed partner.” | This was evidence of continued proximity, not an official confirmation. |
| May 2, 2026 | Sports Illustrated reported that the pair appeared together around Kentucky Derby weekend, including at the Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve Gala. | The report’s headline used “girlfriend,” while its story acknowledged that the couple rarely appear publicly and have not directly confirmed their status. |
| July–August 2026 | The latest broadly reported update located in the research reviewed continued to describe the relationship as unconfirmed. Sports Illustrated also noted that Ponton’s public vacation posts did not include Burrow. | The absence of Burrow from vacation posts does not establish a breakup, just as earlier public appearances did not establish a confirmed relationship. |
Why people think they are a couple
The dating reports are based on a pattern rather than one decisive piece of evidence. Burrow and Ponton have been seen together in multiple cities and at high-profile events over an extended period. They have also appeared connected during both social occasions and sports-related weekends.
That pattern makes the dating theory more credible than a single unverified social-media rumor. It still does not answer important questions such as when they began dating, whether they are exclusive, whether they live together, or what label they use privately. None of those details should be inferred from photographs or event attendance.

Before he was linked to Ponton, Burrow was in a long-term relationship with Olivia Holzmacher. The two met while attending Ohio State University, before Burrow transferred to LSU and became a national football star.
Most reporting places their separation in 2024, although the exact breakup date was not publicly established in the authoritative material reviewed. Historical engagement speculation has circulated, but there is no direct confirmation supporting the claim that Burrow and Holzmacher were engaged. It is therefore more accurate to describe Holzmacher as Burrow’s former long-term partner, not as a confirmed former fiancée.

There is also no direct confirmation of an engagement, cohabitation, exclusivity, breakup, or the length of any relationship. A headline or paparazzi description may use “girlfriend,” “boyfriend,” or “partner” as shorthand, but those labels should not be treated as statements made by Burrow or Ponton themselves.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The careful answer to the dating question
Joe Burrow and Olivia Ponton appear to be dating, or at least are widely presumed to be romantically involved. Multiple sightings across 2024, 2025, and 2026 make the reports more substantial than a one-off rumor. Still, their relationship remains unconfirmed because neither person has publicly defined it.
Until one of them makes a direct statement, the responsible wording is “reportedly dating,” “romantically linked,” or “appear to be together.” Claims that they are engaged, have broken up, live together, or are definitely boyfriend and girlfriend go beyond the available evidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
