2018: They were first romantically linked
Henry and Payne were reportedly linked romantically in or around 2018, after Payne’s relationship with Cheryl Cole ended. Coverage differs on exactly when their relationship became romantic, so a precise first-dating date cannot be stated confidently.
August 2019: Their relationship became public
The pair were photographed together in London in August 2019, bringing their relationship into the public eye. The book follows Mallory Hunt, a young woman who becomes involved with Oliver Smith, a fictional former member of the boy band 5Forward.
Henry told People that the story was fictional but “inspired by true events,” and said Mallory was similar to her. But Looking Forward should not be described as an autobiography, a legal statement or proof that any alleged conduct by Payne occurred. The defensible description is that it is a work of fiction influenced in part by Henry’s experiences as she described them.
Readers should also be aware that the novel contains difficult material. Publisher and retailer descriptions may use different warnings, but reported themes include an unwanted or pressured pregnancy-related storyline, abuse-related material, substance use and references to self-harm.

Reports said the correspondence alleged repeated unwanted contact and other conduct.
Some coverage of the videos and letter repeated claims involving emotional abuse, coercive behavior, threats, explicit images, substance use or violence.
