Elin Nordegren is a Swedish-born former model and au pair who was married to golfer Tiger Woods from 2004 until their divorce was finalized in 2010. Since then, her public story has included a psychology degree from Rollins College, work and educational interests connected to child development, and a deliberately private family life in Florida.
Although Nordegren became internationally known through her marriage to Woods, her documented biography extends well beyond that relationship.

Early life and Swedish background
Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren was born in Sweden. Her father, Thomas Nordegren, worked as a radio journalist, while her mother, Barbro Holmberg, became a prominent Swedish politician who served as the country’s migration minister and later as governor of Gävleborg County. Nordegren has a twin sister, Josefin, and an older brother.
#1 Best Overall
Before she became associated with Woods, Nordegren worked as a model in Sweden. She later worked as an au pair for the family of Swedish professional golfer Jesper Parnevik. That job placed her in the professional-golf social circle where she eventually met Woods. The broad outline is widely reported, but the precise chronology and details of their first meeting vary in retrospective entertainment coverage and should not be embellished.
How Elin Nordegren met Tiger Woods
Nordegren’s connection to the Parnevik family brought her into contact with Tiger Woods, who was also part of the professional golf world. Their relationship developed publicly during the early 2000s, when Woods was already one of the most recognizable athletes in the world.
The couple married in October 2004 at the Sandy Lane resort in Barbados. Their wedding and subsequent life together attracted substantial media attention because of Woods’s global fame, not because Nordegren had pursued a high-profile entertainment career of her own.
Marriage, divorce and the limits of the public record
Nordegren and Woods had two children during their marriage. Their daughter, Sam Alexis Woods, was born in 2007, and their son, Charlie Axel Woods, was born in 2009.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →In late 2009, reports of Woods’s infidelity turned the marriage into an international news story. The couple later announced that they were ending their marriage, and the divorce was finalized on August 23, 2010, in Bay County Circuit Court in Florida.
The publicly reported divorce terms included shared parenting of their two children. The financial terms, however, were not disclosed in the court reporting used for this account. Various settlement figures have circulated for years, but those numbers should not be presented as established fact without a primary court document or a reliable on-the-record source confirming them.
The scandal is an important part of the timeline because it explains why the divorce became so widely covered. It should not, however, be treated as the whole of Nordegren’s biography or used as a basis for speculation about private custody arrangements and family relationships.
Her children and co-parenting relationship with Woods
Nordegren and Woods share parenting of Sam and Charlie. In later public comments, Woods described his relationship with Nordegren as cooperative and emphasized their shared focus on their children.
Both children have largely remained private individuals. Their parents’ celebrity status does not make details such as schools, addresses, schedules or private photographs appropriate to include in a general biography.
Education at Rollins College
One of the clearest documented parts of Nordegren’s post-divorce life is her academic work. She enrolled in Rollins College’s Hamilton Holt School in 2005 and completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2014.
According to a Rollins College profile, Nordegren earned a 3.96 grade-point average and received the Hamilton Holt School’s Outstanding Graduating Senior Award. Rollins describes that honor as the evening degree program’s equivalent of valedictorian.
Her route through college was shaped by family responsibilities. She studied part-time so she could spend time with her young children. In her Rollins interview, she discussed interests in human behavior, developmental psychology and child psychology, including the ways family and cultural backgrounds can influence behavior.
Rank #3
That record supports describing Nordegren as a highly successful psychology student with a sustained interest in child development. It does not establish that she is a licensed psychologist, therapist or practicing mental-health counselor.
Her connection to child-development education
Nordegren was also associated with Rollins College’s Child Development and Student Research Center. Rollins later documented a Nordegren Classroom in Hume House and listed her among donors who helped make an expanded facility possible.
Those records indicate a meaningful connection to education and child-development initiatives. They do not show that Nordegren operates a foundation, runs the center or practices professionally in psychology. Keeping those distinctions clear matters because celebrity profiles often turn an academic interest or donation into a broader professional claim that the available evidence does not support.
Life after the divorce
After her divorce from Woods, Nordegren maintained a comparatively low public profile. Her documented milestones include completing her psychology degree, remaining connected to child-development initiatives at Rollins and building a later family life in Florida.

Public reporting in 2024 identified three children shared by Nordegren and Cameron: Arthur, Zeta and Freya. Because the children are private individuals, only this limited family information is relevant here; details about their daily lives should not be treated as public entertainment.
Some 2024 celebrity reporting referred to Nordegren as a mental-health counselor. That description should be treated cautiously. The available secondary report does not establish her jurisdiction, license type, employer or current practice status, so it is not enough to state that she currently works as a licensed mental-health professional.

Florida property history—and what it does not prove
Property reporting provides a record of several major Florida real-estate transactions. Nordegren purchased a parcel in North Palm Beach in 2011 and built a large residence that was completed in 2014. She sold that property for approximately $28.6 million in 2020 and purchased another Palm Beach Gardens home for approximately $9.9 million that same year.
These are historical transactions, not proof of Nordegren’s current address or current net worth. A property sale price also cannot, by itself, establish the source of funds, the terms of ownership or a person’s present financial position.

Why Elin Nordegren is more than “Tiger Woods’ ex-wife”
Nordegren is best known to the public through Woods, but reducing her identity to that relationship leaves out the strongest independently documented parts of her story:
- She grew up in a Swedish family with journalism and political connections.
- She worked as a model and later as an au pair before marrying Woods.
- She became a parent and co-parented two children with one of the world’s most famous athletes.
- She completed a psychology degree while raising young children and achieved an exceptional academic record.
- She developed a documented connection to child-development education at Rollins College.
- She has kept much of her later family life outside the public spotlight.
The most accurate account is therefore neither a sensational retelling of the 2009 scandal nor an unsupported reinvention of Nordegren as a currently practicing psychologist. It is the story of a Swedish-born former model and au pair whose public identity changed through marriage, motherhood, education and a carefully protected private life.

The family-background and divorce details in this biography are based on contemporary reporting, including Associated Press material and court-related reporting. Rollins College’s own profile is the strongest source for Nordegren’s education, academic distinction and stated interest in developmental psychology. Rollins records also support the account of her connection to child-development facilities.
Because Nordegren is not a public official and has generally kept her family life private, claims about current work, relationships, residence, wealth or her children should be limited to information that is specifically documented and current. Older reports should not be presented as a live snapshot of her life.

She is a Swedish-born former model and au pair, a mother, a Rollins College psychology graduate with an exceptional academic record, and a supporter associated with child-development education.
