Spoiler warning: Connections #508 answers
Stop here if you are still solving. The four groups and all 16 answers appear below.
Yellow: TERMS OF ENDEARMENT
- DARLING
- LOVE
- PUMPKIN
- TREASURE
These can all be used as affectionate names or expressions for someone dear to you. PUMPKIN is the deliberate seasonal trap: it looks like an obvious Halloween word, but it belongs with affectionate nicknames instead.
Green: THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR EYELIDS
- BAT
- BLINK
- FLUTTER
- WINK
BAT is the hardest entry in this group because it works as a verb in the expression “bat your eyes.” The other three are more direct eyelid actions: you can blink, flutter, or wink.

Blue: SPORTS CARS
- DIABLO
- MUSTANG
- SPIDER
- VIPER
These are names associated with recognizable performance or sports-car models: the Lamborghini Diablo, Ford Mustang, Alfa Romeo Spider, and Dodge Viper. The category depends on treating the entries as model names rather than ordinary nouns.

Why the Halloween words were misleading
October 31 gives several words an especially strong seasonal surface reading. BAT, PUMPKIN, WITCH, and SPIDER look as though they could form a Halloween group, but that grouping is a red herring rather than one of the actual categories.
Rank #3
The misdirection becomes clearer after solving: BAT belongs with eyelid actions, PUMPKIN is a term of endearment, WITCH completes “witch hunt,” and SPIDER is a sports-car name. Connections frequently uses words that appear to fit more than one possible theme, so a plausible seasonal group is not necessarily the intended one.
