Yes—U.S. viewers could watch the first episode of Paradise without a Hulu subscription. The premiere, “Wildcat Is Down,” was broadcast on ABC, making it available through a local ABC station, a pay-TV package carrying ABC, or a live-TV service with the reader’s local affiliate. That workaround applied to the premiere and selected 2025 broadcasts—not to the entire series as free broadcast television.
The show is Paradise, and it is no longer upcoming
The original headline refers to Paradise, Hulu’s political thriller created by Dan Fogelman. Hulu describes the series as following a security-service team protecting a former president. Its central characters include senior security agent Xavier Collins, played by Sterling K. Brown, and former President Cal Bradford, played by James Marsden.
There is an important date correction for anyone finding the original story now: Paradise premiered in January 2025. Season 2 premiered on February 23, 2026, and Hulu’s current series listing shows two seasons comprising 16 episodes. The show should therefore be described as an existing two-season series, not an upcoming drama.
How viewers watched the premiere without Hulu
ABC provided the key alternative. The series premiere, “Wildcat Is Down,” follows Xavier Collins after he discovers that a powerful individual has been murdered. ABC broadcast the episode in the United States, allowing people without Hulu to sample the series through:

The premiere was also part of the show’s original Hulu launch strategy, which made the first episodes available early on Hulu and Disney+ in the initial release window. ABC subsequently carried the first episode on January 29, 2025, and began a broader broadcast run on April 7, 2025, starting with a rebroadcast of the premiere and continuing with additional episodes.
What an antenna could—and could not—do
If the broadcast was still scheduled in your market, an indoor TV antenna could receive your local ABC station over the air without a monthly Hulu bill. Reception depends on your location, distance from the transmitter, building materials, antenna placement, and whether your local affiliate broadcasts a usable signal.
An antenna does not unlock Hulu’s on-demand catalog, and it does not guarantee access to every ABC program. It only receives the local broadcast signal. You would also need the episode to be airing on your affiliate’s schedule. As of August 2026, the 2025 ABC arrangement should be treated as a past distribution route rather than a guaranteed current way to watch Paradise.
Did ABC show the complete season?
Not in the sense implied by “watch it without Hulu.” ABC’s involvement gave viewers a way to watch the premiere and later broadcast episodes, but the arrangement was limited. It did not turn the full Hulu catalog into free, on-demand broadcast content, nor did it guarantee that every episode would be available through ordinary television in every market.

What is Paradise about?
Paradise starts as a murder investigation inside an apparently secure and affluent community populated by influential people. Xavier Collins is responsible for protecting former President Cal Bradford, but that assignment changes when a murder exposes weaknesses beneath the community’s carefully controlled surface.
The setup may initially resemble a presidential or Secret Service procedural. That description is incomplete, however. The series gradually expands into a mystery with dystopian, science-fiction, and post-apocalyptic elements. A spoiler-safe description is: a political thriller that uses a presidential security detail as the entry point to a larger speculative mystery.

The principal cast includes Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, and Nicole Brydon Bloom. Hulu’s Season 2 material says the first season progressively reveals the truth about Paradise, while the second season broadens the story beyond the community. Viewers who want to remain unspoiled should avoid detailed plot summaries beyond the premise.
How to watch Paradise now
For U.S. viewers seeking the complete series in August 2026, Hulu is the clearest current source: its series page lists both seasons. A Hulu subscription is the practical route for watching the episodes on demand, subject to the service’s current plan, location, and availability rules.
If you are specifically trying to find the original no-Hulu broadcast route, check your local ABC listings rather than assuming that the 2025 arrangement is still active. A live-TV service may carry ABC in some markets, but local affiliate coverage must be verified by ZIP code. The same is true of an antenna: first check whether your home can receive the relevant ABC station.
Availability outside the United States may differ. Hulu’s catalog, Disney+ access, and local broadcast rights vary by country, so viewers elsewhere should check the services and broadcasters operating in their territory.
What about Season 3?
There was no confirmed Season 3 announcement in the supplied current information. Hulu’s guide says there is no word yet on a third season. That is not the same as a confirmed cancellation or renewal, so neither should be stated without a newer official announcement.

The headline was accurate in a narrow sense: ABC gave people without Hulu a way to watch Paradise’s first episode. It was not a promise that the entire series was free on broadcast television. Today, the show is no longer upcoming; two seasons are listed on Hulu, while the ABC workaround belongs to the series’ 2025 broadcast history.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I watch the first episode of Paradise without Hulu?
The premiere was broadcast on ABC in the United States, so viewers could watch it through a local ABC station, a pay-TV package carrying ABC, or a live-TV service with the local affiliate. That was a scheduled broadcast route, not permanent free on-demand access.
Can an indoor antenna receive Paradise?
An indoor antenna can receive the show only when a local ABC station is broadcasting it and your location gets an adequate signal. An antenna does not provide Hulu or access to the complete streaming catalog.
Is Paradise still upcoming?
No. The series premiered in January 2025. Season 2 premiered on February 23, 2026, and Hulu currently lists two seasons and 16 episodes.
Where can I watch both seasons of Paradise?
For U.S. viewers, Hulu is the clearest current source for both listed seasons. Check current regional availability and plan requirements before subscribing.
Is Paradise a presidential procedural?
It begins with a former president, a security agent, and a murder investigation, but it develops into a broader mystery with dystopian and science-fiction elements. Calling it only a presidential procedural misses the show’s central speculative direction.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: ABC let viewers without Hulu sample Paradise’s premiere, but it did not make the complete series free through broadcast television. In August 2026, Hulu is the straightforward U.S. option for both available seasons; antenna and local-ABC access are relevant only to a scheduled broadcast and depend on the viewer’s market.
