To watch USA Network on Roku, complete two separate tasks: activate the Roku device with a Roku account, then install the USA app and sign in with a participating cable, satellite, or live-TV provider. The Roku account gets you into the Channel Store; it does not replace the TV subscription required to unlock most USA Network live and on-demand programming.
In the USA app, choose the provider-login or activation option, note the code and web address shown on your TV, open that address on a phone or computer, and enter the code. Then sign in with your TV-provider credentials—not normally your Roku password.
What you need before starting
- A Roku player or Roku TV connected to your television and the internet.
- A completed Roku Guided Setup and a Roku account linked to the device.
- Access to the Roku Channel Store or Streaming Store.
- The official USA app installed on the Roku.
- A participating cable, satellite, or digital/live-TV subscription that includes USA Network.
- A phone or computer for entering the activation code displayed by the app.

Step 1: Finish Roku device activation
Skip this section only if your Roku is already set up, connected to the internet, and showing the Roku Home screen.
- Connect a Roku streaming player to power and to an available HDMI input on the TV. For a Roku TV, connect the TV to power instead.
- Turn on the television and select the HDMI input used by the Roku player.
- Follow Roku’s on-screen Guided Setup. Select a language, connect to your home Wi-Fi network, and allow any required software updates to install.
- When prompted, link the device to a Roku account or create one. Roku requires a linked account and completed device activation before you can use the Channel Store and add channels. See Roku’s general setup instructions if the initial setup has not been completed.
Do not confuse this step with USA Network activation. Roku activation authorizes and configures the Roku device. USA activation later authorizes the USA app through your television provider.

Step 2: Install the USA app
- From the Roku Home screen, open Streaming Store or choose Search. The exact label can vary by Roku software version.
- Search for USA Network. If that produces no result, search for USA.
- Select the official USA app/channel in the results and choose Add app or the equivalent install option.
- Wait for installation to finish, then open the app from the Home screen. You can move it nearer the top of the channel list if you expect to use it regularly.
The app’s name, publisher information, and availability can change. The current app listing identifies the developer as Versant Media LLC, while older USA and NBC help pages may refer to NBCUniversal activation systems. Use the official app shown in your Roku store rather than an unofficial channel or website.
Step 3: Generate the USA activation code
- Open the installed USA app.
- Choose Sign In, Activate, or the comparable provider-login option.
- Wait for the app to display a short activation code and an activation web address.
- Leave that Roku screen open while you use your phone or computer.
Do not rely on an old activation address copied from another guide. The safest current procedure is to open the URL displayed inside the official Roku app. Button names and activation addresses can change when the app is updated.
Step 4: Activate the app in a browser
- On your phone or computer, open the exact official web address shown on the Roku screen.
- Enter the activation code exactly as displayed. Do not publish the code or send it to anyone else.
- When prompted, select your cable, satellite, or live-TV provider.
- Sign in with the credentials for that provider. These are generally different from the email address and password used for your Roku account.
- Approve any remaining authorization prompts and wait for the browser to confirm that activation succeeded.
Roku explains that cable-provider and TV-network apps use the credentials supplied by the provider or network. Its guide to signing in to apps also directs viewers to the provider or network when subscription authentication fails.

Step 5: Return to Roku and check access
Return to the USA app. It may refresh automatically; if it does not, close and reopen the app. You should then be able to browse the programming allowed by your provider and location.
Successful activation does not necessarily unlock every item in the catalog. Live USA Network access and the full on-demand library depend on your provider, subscription tier, location, and the rights attached to a particular program or event.
Does the USA app require a cable subscription?
For the full live and on-demand catalog, generally yes: the app is designed to authenticate through a qualifying cable, satellite, or digital/live-TV subscription. The current listing names providers including DirecTV, Spectrum, Xfinity, Dish, and AT&T, but the available login options and eligible plans can change.

Having an account with a listed company is not enough by itself. Your specific plan must carry USA Network, and the provider must support authentication for the USA app. If the provider is absent from the app’s list, check whether it currently carries USA Network and whether your plan includes it before assuming the Roku is malfunctioning.

Some viewers without traditional cable use a live-TV streaming service instead. Official USA material has identified services such as Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, and YouTube TV as possible ways to watch in-season USA programming. Availability, channel lineups, regional restrictions, and plan requirements are volatile, so verify the current package directly before subscribing. A live-TV subscription can provide credentials for the USA app, but it is a separate purchase from installing the Roku app.
Geographic and content restrictions
The current USA app description limits full episodes and live television to the United States and U.S. territories. A Roku account registered in another country may not show the same app in its channel store, and changing the search term will not overcome a regional store restriction.

Even inside the United States, local rights and provider agreements can affect what appears. What not to do
