Stranger Things Season 5 has already been released. Netflix completed the rollout of the fifth and final season on December 31, 2025, with the finale arriving at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time / 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. As of August 11, 2026, there is no upcoming premiere to count down to.
The season was released in three parts: four episodes on November 26, three episodes on December 25, and the single-episode finale on December 31. Viewers in much of Europe and regions farther east saw each release on the following calendar day.
Stranger Things Season 5 release schedule
Netflix used an unusual primetime release schedule for Stranger Things Season 5 instead of its more common midnight-Pacific release pattern. All three drops arrived globally at the same moment: 5:00 p.m. PT.
| Release | Episodes | U.S. date | U.S. time | UTC | Typical European date |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volume 1 | Episodes 1–4 | November 26, 2025 | 5:00 p.m. PT 8:00 p.m. ET |
November 27, 2025 1:00 a.m. UTC |
November 27, 2025 |
| Volume 2 | Episodes 5–7 | December 25, 2025 | 5:00 p.m. PT 8:00 p.m. ET |
December 26, 2025 1:00 a.m. UTC |
December 26, 2025 |
| The Finale | Episode 8 | December 31, 2025 | 5:00 p.m. PT 8:00 p.m. ET |
January 1, 2026 1:00 a.m. UTC |
January 1, 2026 |
Netflix’s official Season 5 release schedule confirms both the dates and the episode split: four episodes in Volume 1, three in Volume 2, and one finale episode.

Is the Stranger Things Season 5 countdown still running?
No. The countdown ended when the finale became available on December 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. A page or widget that currently displays a future timer—or a negative countdown—is incorrect.
The correct live-status message is:
Released: Stranger Things Season 5 is complete. Volume 1 arrived November 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PT; Volume 2 arrived December 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PT; and the finale arrived December 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PT.
If a countdown component remains on the page for technical reasons, its target should be the finale instant—2025-12-31T17:00:00-08:00—and its completed state should read “Released” or “Countdown ended.” It should not show a negative number of days or suggest that the season is still awaiting release.

Why the U.S. and European dates differ
The release was simultaneous worldwide, but the local calendar date depended on the viewer’s time zone. In the United States, the drops occurred in the evening: 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time or 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Because November and December use standard time in those U.S. zones, PST and EST are the appropriate abbreviations for these dates.

At 5:00 p.m. on the U.S. West Coast, it was already after midnight in Europe. That is why the European date was November 27 for Volume 1, December 26 for Volume 2, and January 1, 2026, for the finale. The same release moment also fell on the next calendar day for many viewers in Asia-Pacific regions.
For a location not listed above, convert from December 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PST for the finale, or use the corresponding date in the table for the earlier volumes. The important distinction is that the time was simultaneous globally even when the local date changed.

Why this was not a midnight Netflix release
Netflix says its original films and television shows are typically released globally at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time. However, Netflix also notes that a title page or the Coming Soon section can specify a different launch time. The platform deliberately gave Stranger Things Season 5 a primetime event-style release at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET.
That means a generic Netflix release-time rule should not be used for this series. Assuming midnight PT would have placed the release 17 hours too early on the U.S. West Coast. Netflix’s explanation of general release timing is available in the Netflix Help Center, while the title-specific times are listed by Netflix Tudum.
What is available now?
All eight episodes of the final season are now part of the completed Netflix rollout. The season can be watched as a whole rather than in the original three release windows. This article intentionally remains spoiler-light and discusses only the release structure.

The finale was one episode rather than a second multi-episode volume. Netflix’s later coverage lists its runtime as 2 hours and 5 minutes, which may be useful for a watch-party schedule but is not needed to determine the release date or time. See Netflix’s finale runtime report for that detail.
Want to own the complete series?
For collectors who want all five seasons on physical media rather than relying only on streaming availability, Arrow Video released Stranger Things: The Complete Series in the United States on July 28, 2026. Availability, packaging, disc format, and retailer stock can vary, so check the current product listing before purchasing. A relevant search term is Stranger Things The Complete Series 4K UHD Blu-ray.
This collection is a way to own the complete show for home viewing; it is not an alternative method for obtaining an earlier Season 5 premiere, and it does not change Netflix’s release schedule.
