Major spoilers for the entire movie, including its ending and post-credits scene.
Deadpool & Wolverine contains far more than its advertised heroes. Alongside Wade Wilson and Logan, the film includes returning Deadpool, X-Men, Daredevil, Blade, Fantastic Four, Punisher, and MCU characters; multiple Wolverine and Deadpool variants; briefly visible villains; voice-only roles; and reused footage.
This guide counts every character who is named, credited, visually identifiable, or materially important to the story. Anonymous TVA troops, generic civilians, and indistinguishable Deadpool Corps members are grouped rather than falsely presented as individually established characters. The film was released on July 26, 2024; Marvel’s official film page provides the principal cast and synopsis.
The main characters
At the center of the film is a crisis caused by the death of Logan in Wade’s universe. Mr. Paradox explains that this Wolverine was the timeline’s Anchor Being: when he died, the universe began to decay. Wade searches the multiverse for another Wolverine, eventually recruiting the damaged variant played by Hugh Jackman.

| Character | Actor or performer | Role in the film |
|---|---|---|
| Wade Wilson / Deadpool | Ryan Reynolds | The protagonist. Wade is trying to save his deteriorating timeline and prove that he can still matter to the wider Marvel universe. |
| Logan / Wolverine | Hugh Jackman | An alternate-universe Wolverine recruited by Wade. He is not the same Logan who died in Logan. |
| Cassandra Nova | Emma Corrin | The principal villain, a powerful mutant and Charles Xavier’s evil twin sister who rules the Void. |
| Mr. Paradox | Matthew Macfadyen | A TVA bureaucrat secretly using an unauthorized Time Ripper to accelerate the destruction of Wade’s universe. |
| Hunter B-15 | Wunmi Mosaku | The TVA official who uncovers Paradox’s illegal operation and orders his arrest after Wade and Wolverine save the timeline. |
| Alioth | Visual-effects creature | The enormous cloud-like predator of the Void. It threatens the resistance and appears during the climactic battle. |
The film’s released story makes the distinction between the two Logans essential: Wade’s opening sequence involves the remains of the dead Logan, while the living Wolverine who becomes his partner is a different multiverse variant. The screenplay’s explanation of the Anchor Being and Paradox’s plan is also reflected in the final film; the screenplay can be read as supporting production evidence, but it is not a substitute for the finished movie.

Wade’s family, friends, and returning Deadpool characters
The movie restores much of Wade’s familiar circle for its ordinary-life scenes and its ending. These characters are not just background cameos: they establish what Wade is trying to protect and give the finale its emotional payoff.
| Character | Actor or voice performer | How the character appears |
|---|---|---|
| Vanessa Carlysle | Morena Baccarin | Wade’s partner. She appears in his life before the multiverse mission and in the restored timeline. |
| Peter | Rob Delaney | Wade’s former colleague and friend. During the climax he puts on a Deadpool suit and becomes the distracting hero fans call Peterpool. |
| Blind Al | Leslie Uggams | Wade’s roommate and friend, who reacts to the Deadpool Corps chaos from her window. |
| Dopinder | Karan Soni | Wade’s taxi-driver friend. |
| Colossus | Stefan Kapičić, voice | The metal-skinned X-Man and one of Wade’s recurring allies. |
| Negasonic Teenage Warhead | Brianna Hildebrand | Wade’s X-Men acquaintance. |
| Yukio | Shioli Kutsuna | Negasonic’s girlfriend and another returning Deadpool 2 character. |
| Shatterstar | Lewis Tan | The X-Force member who appears among Wade’s returning friends. |
| Buck | Randal Reeder | A minor but returning member of Wade’s group. |
| Dogpool / Mary Puppins | Peggy the dog | A canine Deadpool variant Wade meets in the Void and brings back with him. Marvel’s official feature identifies the character as Mary Puppins and Peggy as the dog who plays her. |
Peterpool deserves a specific distinction. Peter is not introduced as a separate multiverse Deadpool. He is the original Peter wearing the suit, and his ordinary, friendly presence becomes the perfect weapon against the Corps because the variants cannot bring themselves to attack him.

Every legacy Marvel character and major cameo
Happy Hogan
Happy Hogan returns, played by Jon Favreau. Wade visits him while trying to join the Avengers, but Happy rejects him. This is a newly filmed appearance rather than recycled MCU footage, and it gives Wade one of his clearest early rejections.
Johnny Storm, not Captain America
Johnny Storm / the Human Torch is played by Chris Evans. Evans is deliberately reprising his role from the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four films, not playing Steve Rogers or Captain America. Wade briefly expects a Captain America-style entrance, but Johnny’s answer is the familiar “Flame on.”

The Void resistance
Several pre-MCU Marvel characters appear as fighters resisting Cassandra Nova:
Recommended Free Tools
| Character | Actor | Earlier identity and function here |
|---|---|---|
| Laura / X-23 | Dafne Keen | Laura from Logan. She is part of the Void resistance and helps the alternate Wolverine rediscover his capacity for heroism. |
| Elektra Natchios | Jennifer Garner | Garner’s Elektra from Daredevil and Elektra, now one of the resistance leaders. |
| Eric Brooks / Blade | Wesley Snipes | The vampire hunter from the original Blade trilogy. |
| Remy LeBeau / Gambit | Channing Tatum | Tatum’s long-delayed version of Gambit finally appears as a resistance fighter. This is not Taylor Kitsch’s brief Gambit from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. |
| Johnny Storm / Human Torch | Chris Evans | The Fantastic Four legacy character, who joins the group before the story turns against him. |
| Pyro / John Allerdyce | Aaron Stanford | The mutant from X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. In this film he is aligned with Cassandra Nova. |
| Sabretooth / Victor Creed | Tyler Mane | The version from the 2000 X-Men film, seen in a brief confrontation with Wolverine. |
Blade, Elektra, Gambit, X-23, Johnny Storm, Pyro, and Sabretooth are among the film’s most substantial legacy appearances. They are not all from one continuous franchise timeline; the Void gathers characters from different Marvel screen continuities.
Toad
Toad appears among Cassandra’s forces. His identity is clear, but his performer has been misreported. Some secondary coverage attributed the role to Ray Park, who played Toad in the first X-Men. The final uncredited cast listing points instead to Daniel Medina Ramos. The safest wording is therefore that Toad returns as a character, while the film’s public credit evidence identifies Ramos and some early reports conflict.
Thor and Hulk
Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, does not join the main adventure. Wade sees a brief monitor image of Thor cradling a battered Deadpool. The movie does not explain when the image comes from; it can be read as surveillance footage or a glimpse of a possible future. Thor is therefore a footage-based cameo, not an active participant in the Void story.
A Hulk variant also appears for a moment while fighting one of the Wolverine variants. The shot does not clearly show Hulk’s face, and it never develops into a Bruce Banner appearance. It is best counted as a visual cameo rather than a full Hulk character scene.

The major cameo inventory is broader than a conventional principal-cast list. TheWrap’s cameo guide and GameSpot’s legacy-character guide are useful cross-checks, although neither fully identifies every variant and uncredited mutant in the finished film.
Cassandra Nova’s identifiable mutant army
Cassandra’s headquarters battle is packed with recognizable villains. Some are confirmed by public uncredited cast listings; others are visual identifications supported by the released screenplay. That distinction matters because a production draft can name a character who is not clearly visible or conventionally credited in the final cut.
| Character | Earlier association | Performer or credit status | Confidence of identification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Juggernaut | X-Men: The Last Stand and Marvel comics | Visible in the battle; the screenplay names him. | Clearly identifiable |
| Psylocke | X-Men: The Last Stand | Ayesha Hussain, uncredited | Credit-supported |
| Azazel | X-Men: First Class | Eduardo Gago Muñoz, uncredited | Credit-supported |
| Lady Deathstrike | X2 | Jade Lye, uncredited | Credit-supported |
| Quill | X-Men: First Class | Nilly Cetin, uncredited | Credit-supported |
| Bullseye | Daredevil and Marvel comics | Curtis Rowland Small, uncredited | Credit-supported |
| The Russian | The Punisher and Marvel comics | Billy Clements, uncredited | Credit-supported |
| Toad | The original X-Men film | Daniel Medina Ramos in the final uncredited listing; attribution is disputed in secondary coverage. | Character clear; performer qualification required |
| Callisto | X-Men: The Last Stand | No clearly confirmed conventional final-film cast credit in the supplied evidence. | Visual identification |
| Arclight | X-Men: The Last Stand | No clearly confirmed conventional final-film cast credit in the supplied evidence. | Visual identification |
| Blob | Marvel comics and earlier X-Men screen material | The screenplay names Blob as the character operating the giant skeletal gate, but the final-film credit evidence is less clear. | Possible background identification |
Pyro is already included above because he has a speaking role and a clear story function. The battlefield may also contain other mutant fighters from earlier X-Men films, but not every costume or power can be responsibly converted into a separate named character.

The screenplay specifically lists Juggernaut, Toad, Bullseye, Lady Deathstrike, Azazel, Quill, Arclight, Callisto, Psylocke, and The Russian among Cassandra’s troops. It also includes names such as Nick Fury in production material, but there is no reliable visual or final-cast confirmation that Nick Fury appears in the released movie. He should not be counted as present. The released screenplay PDF is useful here only as supporting evidence, not as a definitive final cast list.
Every Deadpool variant in the Deadpool Corps
The Deadpool Corps is the largest group of variants in the film. Marvel has used the Corps as a comics concept, but the movie combines recognizable comic-inspired versions with brief, production-created visual jokes. Marvel’s Deadpool Corps overview supplies the broader comics context.
Named or credit-supported variants
| Variant | Performer or voice | What is established on screen or in the credits |
|---|---|---|
| Nicepool | Ryan Reynolds, credited as Gordon Reynolds | A conspicuously polite, blond Deadpool who lacks the main Wade’s healing factor. He is killed during the battle. |
| Lady Deadpool / Ladypool | Blake Lively, voice; Christiaan Bettridge, physical stunt performer | The masked leader of the Corps. Lively’s unmasked face does not appear in the film. |
| Kidpool | Inez Reynolds is widely reported; some third-party listings also name Sonita Henry | A foul-mouthed child Deadpool. The performer attribution should be checked against the actual end-credit crawl because public databases conflict. |
| Babypool | Olin Reynolds | A baby version of Deadpool. |
| Headpool | Nathan Fillion, voice | A floating zombie Deadpool head. Fillion provides the voice; the film does not show Fillion physically as the head. |
| Cowboypool | Matthew McConaughey, voice | A western-themed variant who speaks during the Corps confrontation. |
| Welshpool | Paul Mullin | A Deadpool variant carrying a Welsh flag, a visual joke connected to Ryan Reynolds’ association with Wrexham. |
| Canadapool | Alex Kyshkovych | A Canada-themed variant. |
| Samuraipool / Roninpool | Hung Dante Dong, with the exact credit nomenclature varying | A Japanese- or samurai-styled variant. |
| Haroldpool | Harry Holland, uncredited | A briefly visible variant identified in cast listings. |
| Zenpool | Kevin Fortin, according to secondary credit listings | A hooded, dart-firing variant with a pacifist-looking presentation. |
| Dancepool | Nicholas Pauley | The masked dancer associated with the opening choreography to *NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye. This is best treated as a dance-double or variant-like credit, not a fully developed narrative character. |
The exact performer information for masked variants can differ among studio credits, stunt credits, IMDb, and secondary reporting. GameSpot’s Deadpool Corps guide confirms the headline variants, while public final-cast listings add several of the shorter appearances. Reporting on Nicholas Pauley is useful for the Dancepool identification.
Briefly visible or unnamed Corps members
The released film also shows variants who are identifiable by costume or broad design but are not given enough dialogue or screen time to establish a complete individual identity:
- Punkpool, named in the production screenplay.
- A kilt-wearing or Scottish-looking Deadpool.
- A pirate-style Deadpool wearing a tricorn hat.
- Additional samurai-styled variants.
- Hooded and armored variants.
- Numerous ordinary red-suited Deadpools who appear as part of the attacking crowd.
The screenplay names Punkpool, Samurai Deadpool, Cowboypool, Zenpool, and Welshpool, but the finished movie does not give every one of these figures an equally clear introduction. The responsible hierarchy is: named in the final credits; named in production material or reliable coverage; and visible but unnamed. A costume alone is not enough to create a fully established character biography.
Peterpool is not a separate multiverse character
Peter wears the suit, but he remains Wade’s original friend from the central timeline. Calling him Peterpool is useful shorthand; it should not imply that the film introduces another universe’s Peter or a formally separate Deadpool variant.
Every Wolverine variant
Wade’s multiverse search produces a rapid montage of Wolverines before he chooses the one he considers the worst. Several are direct comic-book references, while others are meta-jokes about casting, alternate costumes, or famous Wolverine imagery.

| Variant | How to identify him |
|---|---|
| The Cavillrine | Henry Cavill’s Wolverine. The nickname is a fan and film shorthand, not the character’s formal name; the appearance jokes about long-running speculation that Cavill might play Wolverine. |
| Comic-accurate Wolverine | A shorter Wolverine closer to the character’s classic comic-book proportions. Luke Bennett is credited as the body performer. |
| Patch | Wolverine’s white-tuxedo, eyepatch-wearing identity associated with his Madripoor stories. |
| Old Man Logan | An older, worn-down version of Logan. |
| Crucified Wolverine | A visual homage to the famous crucifixion image from Uncanny X-Men #251. |
| Brown-suited Wolverine | A brown-costumed variant shown fighting Hulk in a brief montage shot. |
| Weapon Omega / Age of Apocalypse Wolverine | The one-armed, black-and-red-costumed version with distinctive hair. |
| Yellow-and-brown, comic-inspired Wolverine | A variant whose costume recalls classic Wolverine comic designs. |
| The Worst Wolverine | The principal Hugh Jackman variant Wade recruits. His history of failure and guilt supplies the emotional arc of the film. |
Tom’s Guide’s variant breakdown is particularly useful for Patch, Old Man Logan, the crucified Wolverine, Weapon Omega, the Hulk-fighting version, the comic-accurate version, and Cavill’s cameo.
The dead Logan is a separate screen presence
The skeleton Wade digs up belongs to the Logan who died in Logan. The film also shows footage of that death on a TVA monitor. This dead Logan is not the living Wolverine variant who joins Wade, so both should be listed separately in any complete inventory.
Characters who appear only in footage, images, or references
Not every recognizable Marvel name in the dialogue is physically present in a new scene. These are the important borderline cases:
| Character or group | What actually happens |
|---|---|
| Thor | Visible only in a brief monitor image of Thor holding Deadpool. He is not an active participant in the main plot. |
| The Logan from Logan | Represented by the skeleton at the opening and archival footage of his death. |
| Hulk | Briefly visible in a Wolverine-variant montage, with his face unclear. |
| Steve Rogers / Captain America | Not present. Wade anticipates a Captain America-style entrance, but Chris Evans is playing Johnny Storm. |
| Professor Charles Xavier | Discussed because Cassandra Nova is his twin sister, but he does not appear as a new active character in the film. |
| The Avengers | Discussed as a group, but the Avengers do not appear together. |
| Magneto, Iceman, Rogue, and other classic X-Men | Referenced or connected to the earlier films, but not present as active characters in the released movie. |
| The Punisher | Not shown. The connection comes through The Russian and Punisher-associated weaponry. |
| Daredevil | Discussed in connection with Elektra’s past, but not shown. |
| Spider-Man | Not shown. |
The film also contains a Fox-era tribute and archival or recycled material. Actors glimpsed as themselves in such a montage should not automatically be counted as new characters in the story. Likewise, anonymous TVA Minutemen, civilians, car-sale customers, casino patrons, and indistinguishable Corps duplicates are not individually cataloguable characters.
Who does not appear in the released movie?
The multiverse premise makes it easy to mistake a character reference, an expected cameo, or a background resemblance for an actual appearance. Among the notable Deadpool characters who do not enter the film’s present-day story are:
- Domino, including Zazie Beetz’s version.
- Cable.
- Weasel, played by T.J. Miller in the earlier films.
- Firefist.
- Captain America as a character.
- Most of the classic X-Men team, including Magneto, Iceman, and Rogue as active participants.
This is a list of notable absences from the released film, not a claim that none of these characters is ever mentioned, referenced, or connected through earlier footage. The distinction is especially important for Captain America, Thor, and the dead Logan.
Why different character lists disagree
A normal cast list is not enough for this movie. Many appearances are uncredited; masked characters may have separate voice and stunt performers; some variants appear for only a few seconds; and the screenplay uses placeholder names that do not map cleanly onto the final public-facing credits. Names such as Gatsby, Billy, Eleven, and Lemon appear in production material, but they should not be treated as final character names without confirmation in the finished film.

The most reliable approach is to combine the released movie with the final public cast and uncredited-role listings. The full-credit listing is useful for minor and uncredited performers, but even it should be treated cautiously where third-party databases conflict. For production names and scene order, the screenplay PDFs hosted by ScriptSlug and Disney are supporting documents rather than definitive evidence of what survived into the final cut.
The short version
The film’s definite story cast is Wade, the alternate Logan, Cassandra Nova, Mr. Paradox, Hunter B-15, Alioth, Wade’s returning friends and family, and Laura. Its major legacy characters include Happy Hogan, Johnny Storm, Elektra, Blade, Gambit, Pyro, Sabretooth, and Toad. Its battlefield is filled with identifiable mutants such as Juggernaut, Psylocke, Azazel, Lady Deathstrike, Quill, Bullseye, and The Russian, plus less certain visual identifications including Callisto, Arclight, and possibly Blob.
Then come the two large variant groups: the many Deadpools of the Corps and the Wolverines seen during Wade’s search. Thor and Hulk count only as brief visual appearances; the dead Logan counts through his remains and footage; and Captain America, Professor X, Daredevil, Punisher, Spider-Man, and the absent X-Men do not count as active on-screen characters.

Is Chris Evans playing Captain America in Deadpool & Wolverine?
No. Chris Evans plays Johnny Storm, the Human Torch from the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four films. The movie uses Wade’s expectation of a Captain America entrance as a joke before Johnny says “Flame on.”
Who is the Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine?
The main Wolverine is Hugh Jackman’s alternate-universe Logan, the variant Wade recruits after learning that the Logan from his own universe has died. The dead Logan shown at the opening is a separate character and screen presence.
Who plays Lady Deadpool?
Blake Lively supplies Lady Deadpool’s voice, while Christiaan Bettridge is credited as the physical stunt performer. Lady Deadpool remains masked, so Lively’s unmasked face does not appear as the character.
Is Peterpool a different Deadpool variant?
No. Peterpool is Wade’s original friend Peter wearing a Deadpool suit during the final battle. He is not introduced as a separate multiverse Peter or a formally distinct Deadpool variant.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Does Toad come back as Ray Park in the movie?
Toad appears, but the final uncredited cast evidence identifies Daniel Medina Ramos. Some secondary reports attributed the role to Ray Park, so the performer claim should be qualified rather than stated as settled fact.
Does Thor actually appear in the main story?
No. Thor appears only in a brief monitor image showing him holding a battered Deadpool. The movie does not establish the circumstances of the image, and Thor does not participate in the Void adventure.
The Bottom Line
Deadpool & Wolverine is best understood as a film with three overlapping cast lists: its actual story characters, its legacy and variant cameos, and its footage-only or mentioned characters. Counting all three without labeling the difference creates confusion. The most complete responsible inventory includes every named, credited, identifiable, or narratively meaningful figure while qualifying disputed credits and grouping anonymous background figures.
