If you do not have STARZ, the least expensive one-time option is a $3.99 rental; a digital purchase is listed at $14.99 through Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home. No free legal streaming option was listed in the latest U.S. availability scan.
The 2024 film is an Oscar winner, but not a Best Picture winner: Peter Straughan won the Academy Award for Adapted Screenplay at the 97th Oscars on March 2, 2025.
Availability and prices below reflect a U.S. check performed August 9, 2026, and can change when licensing agreements expire.
Where to watch Conclave right now
The simplest choice depends on whether you want to watch the movie once or already subscribe to a service that carries it. The current U.S. listings show STARZ as the main subscription option, with the film also available through STARZ channel subscriptions on Amazon and Apple TV.

| Service | How access works | Current U.S. status |

| STARZ | Direct STARZ subscription | Subscription streaming. STARZ’s signup page showed $11.99 per month as the regular monthly price, with promotional and annual options also displayed. |
| STARZ Amazon Channel | Add STARZ through Amazon | Subscription streaming through the STARZ channel. An ordinary Prime membership should not be assumed to include the film. |
| STARZ Apple TV Channel | Add STARZ through Apple TV | Subscription streaming through the STARZ channel. This is separate from an Apple TV+ subscription. |
| YouTube TV | Requires the relevant premium-network add-on | The film is listed through YouTube TV’s availability data, but STARZ is not part of the ordinary YouTube TV base plan. Check Settings → Membership for the current add-on price. |
| Amazon Video | One-time rental or purchase | $3.99 to rent or $14.99 to buy in the current listing. |
| Apple TV Store | One-time rental or purchase | $3.99 to rent or $14.99 to buy in the current listing. |
| Fandango at Home | One-time rental or purchase | $3.99 to rent or $14.99 to buy in the current listing. |

The current availability information comes from a JustWatch U.S. scan that checked 362 services on August 9, 2026. Because catalogs change, use the linked provider page to confirm the offer before signing up or paying.
The cheapest way to watch Conclave
- Watching once: Rent it for $3.99. This is generally the most economical option for a single two-hour viewing.
- Watching more than once: Compare the $14.99 digital purchase with the cost of a STARZ subscription. Buying may be more straightforward if you want to revisit the film without maintaining a subscription.
- Already subscribed to STARZ: Watch it through the STARZ app or through the STARZ channel where you subscribed. There is no need to purchase it separately unless you want a transactional copy.
- Interested in other STARZ programs: A subscription may offer better overall value than a one-film rental, particularly if a promotional rate is available.
- Already paying for Prime Video, Apple TV, Peacock, or YouTube TV: Check whether STARZ is already attached to your account as a premium channel. Do not assume that the base subscription includes the film.
STARZ pricing
When checked on August 9, 2026, the STARZ U.S. signup page displayed a regular price of $11.99 per month, a limited offer of $4.99 per month for three months, and an annual option of $69.99 per year. These are observed prices, not guaranteed permanent rates. Eligibility, taxes, billing terms, promotions, and cancellation conditions can vary.
The page also describes STARZ as offering ad-free viewing, offline downloads, and simultaneous streams. Those service features do not change the fact that a STARZ subscription is a broader monthly or annual commitment than a $3.99 rental.
Is Conclave included with Prime?
Prime members should not assume that Conclave is included at no additional charge. An older Amazon editorial said the movie was included with Prime and quoted earlier rental and purchase prices. However, the current Prime Video title page says that video is currently unavailable in that listing and points users toward rental, purchase, or another version. The current U.S. availability data identifies STARZ Amazon Channel, rather than ordinary Prime membership, as the subscription route.

If you use Amazon, look for the wording on the movie’s current title page. “Included with Prime,” “available through STARZ,” and “rent or buy” are different offers. A Prime Video app listing does not by itself mean the film is free for Prime subscribers.
Is Conclave on Peacock?
Peacock has a page for Conclave, but the current page labels the movie “STARZ Add On.” That means the film can be surfaced inside Peacock for customers who add STARZ; it should not be described as included with a standard Peacock plan.
Peacock previously promoted Conclave as a Peacock exclusive during an earlier streaming window. That January 2025 announcement is historical and does not override the current Peacock title page.
What about Apple TV+ and the Apple TV Store?
The Apple TV Store is a transactional storefront where you can rent or buy individual movies. It is not the same thing as Apple TV+, Apple’s subscription service.

The current U.S. listings identify the Apple TV Store as a $3.99 rental or $14.99 purchase option, and STARZ Apple TV Channel as a separate subscription route. Therefore, an Conclave listing in the Apple TV app does not mean the movie is included with Apple TV+.
Rental and purchase details
The current U.S. listings show:
- Rental: $3.99.
- Digital purchase: $14.99.
- Retailers: Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango at Home.
The current aggregator listing shows transactional offers in 4K, but resolution, audio formats, subtitles, and device compatibility can differ by retailer. Do not assume that the subscription version on STARZ will offer exactly the same picture or sound options as a 4K purchase.
Rental playback rules are also retailer-specific. Amazon’s general help page says rentals typically remain in a customer’s video library for 30 days and generally provide at least 48 hours to finish after playback begins, although individual titles can have different terms. Those Amazon rules should not automatically be applied to Apple TV Store or Fandango at Home rentals; check the terms shown at checkout.
Why is Conclave called an Oscar-winning movie?
Conclave won one Academy Award: Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) for Peter Straughan. The award was presented at the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, 2025, according to the Academy’s official ceremony records.

The film was also nominated for Best Picture, Leading Actor for Ralph Fiennes, Supporting Actress for Isabella Rossellini, Film Editing, Original Score, Production Design, Costume Design, and other categories. It did not win Best Picture. “Oscar-winning” is accurate, but the specific win was for adapted screenplay.
What is Conclave about?
Conclave is a fictional Vatican drama-thriller about the secretive process of choosing a new pope after the death of the previous pontiff. Cardinal Lawrence, played by Ralph Fiennes, is responsible for managing the conclave as cardinals from around the world gather to vote. As the ballots proceed, rival factions, personal ambitions, and buried secrets begin to complicate the election.
It is not a documentary and is not based on a particular real papal election. The film uses the real institution, rituals, and political tensions associated with a conclave, but its characters, conflicts, conspiracy, and outcome are fictional. It is adapted from Robert Harris’ 2016 novel Conclave; Focus Features also identifies the movie as an adaptation of Harris’ book.

Does location change where it is available?
Yes. Streaming and digital-retail rights are negotiated by territory, so the U.S. answer should not be applied automatically to other countries. For example, the current U.K. JustWatch page lists transactional options including Apple TV Store, Amazon Video, Sky Store, and Rakuten TV rather than exactly the same U.S. STARZ arrangement.
Viewers in Canada, Australia, the U.K., and elsewhere should search their local JustWatch catalog or the movie pages for their regional services. Prices, subtitles, dubbed audio, rental windows, and available resolutions may all differ.
How to avoid the most common streaming mistakes
- Check the billing relationship: STARZ directly, STARZ through Amazon, STARZ through Apple TV, STARZ through Peacock, and STARZ through YouTube TV are related but separately managed subscriptions.
- Read the inclusion label: “Included with subscription,” “STARZ add-on,” and “rent or buy” are not interchangeable.
- Confirm the price at checkout: Digital prices can change, and taxes, promotions, resolution, and device availability may affect the final amount.
- Check your existing subscriptions first: YouTube TV customers can open Settings → Membership to see premium-network add-ons and current account pricing.
- Do not rely on old articles: Earlier coverage quoting a $5.99 rental, $19.99 purchase, Prime inclusion, or Peacock exclusivity may describe a previous licensing window.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I watch Conclave for free legally?
No free legal streaming option was listed in the U.S. availability scan checked August 9, 2026. A STARZ trial or promotional price may occasionally reduce the initial cost, but promotions are not guaranteed and are not the same as a permanently free option.
Does a YouTube TV subscription include Conclave?
The movie is listed through YouTube TV’s availability information, but STARZ is a premium add-on rather than part of the ordinary YouTube TV base plan. Check Settings → Membership in your account for the applicable STARZ package and price.
Do I need both Peacock and STARZ to watch the movie?
You need access to STARZ, either directly or through a supported channel subscription. Peacock’s current Conclave page labels the film “STARZ Add On,” so an ordinary Peacock plan alone should not be treated as sufficient.
Is Conclave based on a true story?
No. It is a fictional adaptation of Robert Harris’ 2016 novel. The film draws on the real-world rituals and institution of a papal conclave, but the characters and election are fictional.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: For one viewing, rent Conclave for $3.99. If you already have STARZ, stream it there; if you want other STARZ programming, compare the subscription’s current price with the one-time rental or $14.99 purchase. In the U.S., the availability and prices in this guide were checked August 9, 2026 and may change.
