18 Best Korean Movies on Netflix (March 2024)

From psychological thrillers and zombie horror to romance, sci-fi, and supernatural mysteries, these are 18 Korean movies associated with the Netflix U.S. catalog around March 2024—with spoiler-light descriptions and availability warnings.

Looking for a Korean movie rather than another K-drama? These 18 picks cover psychological thrillers, zombie horror, revenge action, romance, science fiction, supernatural mysteries, and emotionally heavy dramas. If you want one immediate recommendation, start with The Call for a twisty thriller, 20th Century Girl for romance, #Alive for zombies, or Space Sweepers for accessible science fiction.

Availability note: This is a Netflix U.S.-focused March 2024 snapshot and editorial reconstruction, not a claim to reproduce the exact order of the March 30, 2024 Collider list. Netflix catalogs vary by country and change frequently. The direct Netflix links below are the best way to check whether a title is available in your region now. Historical availability cannot always be proven from a current Netflix page.

Quick picks: which Korean movie should you watch?

If you want… Watch… Why
The best first Korean thriller The Call A high-concept phone mystery that becomes increasingly dangerous without requiring any franchise knowledge.
Stylish revenge action Ballerina Fast, brutal, visually polished action led by Jeon Jong-seo.
A zombie survival movie #Alive A contained, contemporary outbreak story built around isolation and improvisation.
A romantic tearjerker 20th Century Girl A nostalgic first-love story set in 1999.
Big-scale Korean science fiction Space Sweepers An energetic space adventure with a found-family crew.
A dark mystery Forgotten A missing-person mystery designed around reversals and uncertainty.
An emotionally serious drama My Name Is Loh Kiwan A refugee story about survival, displacement, and an uneasy human connection.
A lighter, more unusual romance Love and Leashes A workplace romantic comedy that treats consensual BDSM as a relationship conversation rather than a shock reveal.

Intensity key: “High” generally means graphic violence, disturbing imagery, or especially heavy themes; “medium” does not mean family-friendly.

The 18 best Korean movies on Netflix

“Best” is subjective, so this is a recommendation list rather than an objective ranking. The selection favors distinctive films, strong genre execution, accessible premises, variety, and titles associated with the Netflix U.S. catalog around March 2024. It includes Netflix-backed films as well as Korean films carried under regional licensing agreements; being available on Netflix does not automatically make a film a Netflix Original.

1. The Call (2020)

  • Best for: A compact, high-concept psychological thriller.
  • Genre: Thriller, horror, science fiction.
  • Runtime: 112 minutes.
  • Director: Lee Chung-hyun.
  • Starring: Park Shin-hye, Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Sung-ryeong, Lee El.
  • Intensity: High; graphic violence, murder, abuse, and disturbing imagery.

Seo-yeon receives a phone call from a woman living in the same house—but in a different time. What begins as an impossible connection gradually changes the lives of both women, with consequences that become more frightening as the rules of the connection emerge.

The Call is one of the easiest Korean films to recommend to a newcomer because its central idea is immediately understandable and the movie moves quickly. Jeon Jong-seo gives the film a volatile, unnerving performance, while the production turns an ordinary house into a shifting psychological battleground. It is best watched with as little advance information as possible: the less you know about its turns, the more effective its escalating cause-and-effect structure becomes.

2. Ballerina (2023)

  • Best for: Stylish, revenge-driven action.
  • Genre: Action, crime, thriller.
  • Runtime: 92 minutes.
  • Director: Lee Chung-hyun.
  • Starring: Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Ji-hun, Park Yu-rim.
  • Intensity: High; graphic violence, revenge, sexual exploitation, and trauma.

Former bodyguard Ok-ju is grieving the death of her friend Min-hee, a ballerina who left behind a final request. She sets out to find the man responsible and takes on a criminal operation that is much larger and more violent than it first appears.

The film is a sleek action showcase for Jeon Jong-seo, using color, music, choreography, and sharply staged bursts of violence to create a revenge-fantasy atmosphere. Its story is deliberately direct: this is not a procedural mystery but a focused mission movie with a strong visual identity. Choose it when you want something fast and brutal rather than a slow character study.

3. Kill Boksoon (2023)

  • Best for: An action film with an adult family-and-career conflict.
  • Genre: Action, crime, thriller.
  • Runtime: 137 minutes.
  • Director: Byun Sung-hyun.
  • Starring: Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Esom, Koo Kyo-hwan.
  • Intensity: High; frequent graphic violence, murder, and criminal themes.

Gil Bok-soon is a highly successful contract killer who can handle almost any assignment. Her more difficult job is being a mother to her teenage daughter, and the tension between those two identities becomes dangerous when she refuses a mission and puts herself at odds with the organization that employs her.

The premise gives a familiar assassin movie a useful domestic complication. Bok-soon is not simply trying to survive rival killers; she is also trying to decide what kind of parent she can be and what she owes the people around her. The action is stylized and sometimes darkly comic, but the film’s most interesting tension comes from the collision between professional violence and ordinary family responsibility.

4. #Alive (2020)

  • Best for: A contained zombie survival movie.
  • Genre: Horror, zombie, survival.
  • Runtime: 98 minutes.
  • Director: Cho Il-hyeong.
  • Starring: Yoo Ah-in, Park Shin-hye.
  • Intensity: Medium-high; zombies, blood, panic, isolation, and suicide-related themes.

When a rapidly spreading outbreak turns Seoul into a dangerous wasteland, gamer Joon-woo is trapped alone in his apartment. With food and water running out and communication failing, he notices another survivor across the complex and tries to find a way to stay alive.

#Alive updates the outbreak formula through smartphones, livestreams, apartment balconies, delivery food, and the psychological pressure of being unable to leave home. It is less expansive than a city-spanning zombie epic, but that limitation gives the movie its appeal: the immediate problem is not only how to fight the infected, but how to remain mentally functional while isolated. Netflix’s U.S. title page lists Korean original audio and English subtitles, along with dubbed options that may vary by account and territory.

5. Time to Hunt (2020)

  • Best for: A tense dystopian heist that turns into a pursuit thriller.
  • Genre: Crime, thriller, dystopian science fiction.
  • Runtime: 134 minutes.
  • Director: Yoon Sung-hyun.
  • Starring: Lee Je-hoon, Ahn Jae-hong, Choi Woo-shik, Park Hae-soo.
  • Intensity: High; gun violence, murder, desperation, and harsh social conditions.

In a bleak near-future Korea, a group of friends plans one last robbery to escape an increasingly hopeless economy. Their apparent crime thriller becomes a survival chase when a professional killer begins pursuing them with relentless precision.

The movie spends time establishing the damaged world around its characters before turning the heist into a nerve-racking run for survival. Its appeal lies in the way friendship and desperation drive the plan: these are not master criminals executing a perfect scheme, but people gambling everything on an uncertain future. Expect a grim atmosphere, extended suspense sequences, and a deliberately oppressive setting.

6. Forgotten (2017)

  • Best for: Viewers who want a puzzle-box mystery.
  • Genre: Mystery, psychological thriller.
  • Runtime: 109 minutes.
  • Director: Jang Hang-jun.
  • Starring: Kang Ha-neul, Kim Moo-yul, Moon Sung-keun, Na Young-hee.
  • Intensity: High; kidnapping, violence, trauma, and disturbing revelations.

Jin-seok moves with his family into a new house, where his older brother is abducted in front of him. When the brother returns 19 days later, he seems like a different person, and Jin-seok begins questioning his own memory, his family, and what actually happened.

Highwings 8K@60 HDMI Cable 10FT/3M, Certified 48Gbps 2.1 Ultra High Speed
  • Top Technology----8K@60HZ: This 8K Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable uses the most cutting-edge technology, is compatible with 8K@60HZ and 4K@120HZ, clearly displays every particle, and accurately processes every signal source.
  • Upgrade Revolution: Highwings Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable supports 48Gbps (6GB/s) which can will no longer be stuck or dropped frames when watching video. It is also backward compatible with HDMI 2.0b/2.0a/1.4/1.3/1.2/1.1 versions.
  • For Game Enthusiasts: This 8K Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable can achieve a super smooth picture of 4K@120HZ. Its latest game mode supports variable refresh rate, maximizes the value of the graphics card and CPU to obtain a smoother and more detailed picture.

  • The ultimate perfectionist: Highwings every parts of the cable has been put through rigorous the performance tests in the laboratory. After we've combined every flawless part into a perfect 8K cable and it can be presented to you.

This is the pick for a viewer who enjoys being made to reconsider earlier scenes. Forgotten is deliberately spoiler-sensitive, so its central mystery should be approached with minimal prior knowledge. The film’s suspense comes less from spectacle than from the gradual collapse of certainty; details that initially seem ordinary become important as the story changes shape.

7. Night in Paradise (2020)

  • Best for: A slow-burning gangster drama with sudden violence.
  • Genre: Crime, drama, thriller.
  • Runtime: 132 minutes.
  • Director: Park Hoon-jung.
  • Starring: Uhm Tae-goo, Jeon Yeo-been, Cha Seung-won.
  • Intensity: High; graphic gang violence, death, illness, and bleak emotional themes.

After a personal tragedy, gangster Tae-gu is sent to Jeju Island to lie low. There he meets Jae-yeon, a woman facing her own serious illness and isolation, while the violent organization he escaped continues closing in around him.

Night in Paradise is more melancholy than its crime-film setup may suggest. Its island landscapes and long stretches of conversation create a mournful contrast with the brutality of the gangster world. This is a good choice when you want Korean noir with atmosphere and emotional weight, but not the quickest option on the list.

8. Space Sweepers (2021)

  • Best for: An accessible Korean space adventure.
  • Genre: Science fiction, action, adventure, drama.
  • Runtime: 136 minutes.
  • Director: Jo Sung-hee.
  • Starring: Song Joong-ki, Kim Tae-ri, Jin Seon-kyu, Yoo Hai-jin.
  • Intensity: Medium; action violence, peril, environmental catastrophe, and some frightening imagery.

In 2092, Earth is becoming uninhabitable and orbital debris has become a valuable source of income. The crew of the scavenger ship Victory finds a seemingly harmless humanoid child who may be connected to a dangerous weapon and a much larger corporate plan.

The film combines colorful space spectacle with a scruffy found-family crew. It is not trying to be hard science fiction; its strengths are momentum, visual scale, comic chemistry, and an easy-to-follow emotional core. Newcomers to Korean cinema who want something less grim than a crime thriller should begin here.

9. 20th Century Girl (2022)

  • Best for: Nostalgic first love and a cathartic romance.
  • Genre: Romance, coming-of-age, drama.
  • Runtime: 119 minutes.
  • Director: Bang Woo-ri.
  • Starring: Kim Yoo-jung, Byeon Woo-seok, Park Jung-woo, Roh Yoon-seo.
  • Intensity: Medium; bullying, illness, grief, and emotionally painful relationship themes.

In 1999, teenager Bo-ra promises to watch a boy at school for her best friend, who has a crush on him. The assignment becomes complicated when Bo-ra develops feelings of her own and begins navigating friendship, first love, and the uncertainty of growing up.

Period details such as pagers, video stores, school uniforms, and early internet culture give the film a warm nostalgic texture, but its central appeal is the friendship at the heart of the story. It starts as a lively coming-of-age romance and gradually becomes more emotionally reflective. Keep tissues nearby and avoid spoilers, especially if you are reading about the ending.

10. Tune in for Love (2019)

  • Best for: A gentle, wistful romance told over several years.
  • Genre: Romance, drama.
  • Runtime: 122 minutes.
  • Director: Jung Ji-woo.
  • Starring: Kim Go-eun, Jung Hae-in, Park Hae-joon, Kim Gook-hee.
  • Intensity: Medium; abandonment, family trauma, crime-related backstory, and sadness.

Mi-soo and Hyun-woo first meet at a bakery in the 1990s. Their relationship develops through repeated reunions and separations as work, timing, personal history, and changing circumstances keep pulling them apart.

Rather than building around one grand romantic gesture, the movie is interested in how people can remain important to one another even when life refuses to proceed neatly. The radio broadcasts and changing technology help mark the passage of time, while Kim Go-eun and Jung Hae-in give the relationship an unforced, lived-in quality. Choose it for a quieter alternative to the more plot-heavy films here.

11. Love and Leashes (2022)

  • Best for: A playful workplace romance with an unusual premise.
  • Genre: Romantic comedy, relationship drama.
  • Runtime: 117 minutes.
  • Director: Park Hyun-jin.
  • Starring: Seo Hyun, Lee Jun-young.
  • Intensity: Medium; sexual themes, BDSM discussion, workplace embarrassment, and consensual adult intimacy.

After discovering that his reserved coworker has submissive preferences, Jung Ji-woo agrees to enter a three-month consensual relationship with him. The arrangement forces both colleagues to communicate clearly about boundaries, trust, and what they actually want.

Love and Leashes uses comedy to approach BDSM without treating the subject as a horror story or a moral scandal. Its best scenes are about negotiation and mutual respect, while the workplace setting supplies awkwardness and social pressure. It is a good choice for viewers who want romance with a premise that feels different from the usual opposites-attract formula.

12. Sweet & Sour (2021)

  • Best for: A relationship drama about distance, work, and changing expectations.
  • Genre: Romance, drama.
  • Runtime: 101 minutes.
  • Director: Lee Gye-byeok.
  • Starring: Jang Ki-yong, Chae Soo-bin, Krystal Jung.
  • Intensity: Medium; illness, exhaustion, relationship breakdown, and emotionally difficult choices.

Da-eun and Jang-hyeok begin a promising relationship, but long commutes and demanding work schedules gradually change how they see one another. When Jang-hyeok starts a new job and meets an ambitious colleague, the couple’s already fragile balance becomes harder to maintain.

This is a romance about practical pressures rather than idealized timing. Its hospital and office settings underline the way fatigue, ambition, insecurity, and unequal effort can alter a relationship. Watch it for a contemporary relationship story—and do not search for explanations of its structure beforehand, because the film depends on withholding key information.

13. My Name Is Loh Kiwan (2024)

  • Best for: A serious, emotionally heavy refugee drama.
  • Genre: Drama, romance.
  • Runtime: 131 minutes.
  • Director: Kim Hee-jin.
  • Starring: Song Joong-ki, Choi Sung-eun, Jo Han-chul, Lee Il-hwa.
  • Intensity: High; death, poverty, exploitation, addiction, violence, and displacement.

Loh Kiwan defects from North Korea and arrives in Belgium with almost nothing. As he seeks refugee recognition and struggles to survive, he meets Marie, a Korean-Belgian woman whose own life has been shaped by loss and self-destruction.

Netflix identified My Name Is Loh Kiwan as part of its 2024 Korean film slate, and its March 1 release made it especially relevant to a March 2024 list. The film is not a light romance: its relationship develops inside a story about legal uncertainty, poverty, grief, and the search for dignity. Choose it when you want a character-led drama and are prepared for difficult subject matter.

14. Unlocked (2023)

  • Best for: A modern thriller about smartphone privacy.
  • Genre: Psychological thriller, crime.
  • Runtime: 117 minutes.
  • Director: Kim Tae-joon.
  • Starring: Chun Woo-hee, Yim Si-wan, Kim Hee-won.
  • Intensity: High; stalking, threats, murder, coercive control, and sexual violence themes.

Na-mi loses her smartphone on her way home. The person who finds it installs spyware and begins monitoring her calls, movements, relationships, and private information, gradually turning access to her phone into access to her entire life.

Unlocked works because its threat begins with an everyday mistake rather than an elaborate criminal conspiracy. The film turns familiar phone habits into sources of suspense and asks how much of a person’s identity is exposed through one device. It is particularly effective for viewers who want a contemporary stalking thriller, though its themes can be upsetting.

15. Svaha: The Sixth Finger (2019)

  • Best for: A slow-burn occult mystery.
  • Genre: Mystery, supernatural thriller, horror.
  • Runtime: 122 minutes.
  • Director: Jang Jae-hyun.
  • Starring: Lee Jung-jae, Park Jung-min, Lee Jae-in, Yoo Ji-tae.
  • Intensity: High; disturbing religious imagery, animal harm, murder, child endangerment, and occult themes.

Pastor Park investigates suspicious religious groups and encounters a case connected to a remote community, a strange birth, and a belief system that does not fit neatly into conventional categories. A police investigation running alongside his inquiry reveals that the apparent coincidence may be part of something much more unsettling.

This is a moodier and more demanding watch than a conventional jump-scare horror movie. It builds its unease through religious symbolism, competing interpretations, and an investigation that keeps widening. Watch it when you want folklore, theology, and crime investigation woven into an ambiguous supernatural mystery.

16. The 8th Night (2021)

  • Best for: A mythology-driven supernatural horror movie.
  • Genre: Horror, mystery, supernatural thriller.
  • Runtime: 115 minutes.
  • Director: Kim Tae-hyung.
  • Starring: Lee Sung-min, Park Hae-joon, Kim Yoo-jung, Nam Da-reum.
  • Intensity: High; possession, ritual imagery, violence, death, and frightening supernatural figures.

A monk guards an ancient object linked to a dangerous entity that was separated into two parts. When a series of deaths suggests that the entity is awakening, he and a researcher try to stop it before it reaches the final stage of its return.

The 8th Night favors atmosphere and mythology over a simple monster attack. Its story moves through Buddhist imagery, investigation, ritual, and an expanding supernatural threat. It is a good pick for viewers who enjoy horror with a mystery to decode, but its deliberately measured pace may not suit anyone looking for constant action.

17. Psychokinesis (2018)

  • Best for: A lighter superhero story with a Korean social angle.
  • Genre: Superhero, comedy, action, fantasy.
  • Runtime: 101 minutes.
  • Director: Yeon Sang-ho.
  • Starring: Ryu Seung-ryong, Shim Eun-kyung, Park Jung-min, Kim Min-jae.
  • Intensity: Medium; action violence, eviction threats, corporate abuse, and comic peril.

A bank security guard unexpectedly develops telekinetic powers after drinking water affected by a mysterious phenomenon. He initially has little idea how to use them, but he is pushed into action when his estranged daughter and the people in her neighborhood face violent redevelopment pressure.

The film treats superpowers as an inconvenient responsibility rather than a glamorous transformation. Its comedy comes from an ordinary, self-interested father learning to act bravely, while its conflict with a powerful construction company gives the fantasy a grounded social context. It is one of the more accessible choices here if you want action without the sustained brutality of a revenge thriller.

18. Okja (2017)

  • Best for: A visually imaginative adventure with environmental and corporate satire.
  • Genre: Adventure, fantasy, drama, satire.
  • Runtime: 120 minutes.
  • Director: Bong Joon-ho.
  • Starring: Ahn Seo-hyun, Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Steven Yeun, Jake Gyllenhaal.
  • Intensity: Medium-high; animal abuse, corporate cruelty, violence, disturbing imagery, and emotionally upsetting scenes.

Mija lives in the Korean mountains with Okja, a genetically engineered super-pig who has become her closest companion. When a multinational corporation takes Okja away, Mija leaves home to rescue her, encountering activists, executives, media spectacle, and the industrial system behind the animal’s creation.

Okja is a South Korean-American co-production and one of the most internationally accessible films on this list. Bong Joon-ho shifts between wonder, slapstick, action, and outrage, using a child’s rescue mission to examine corporate branding, animal welfare, and consumer culture. It is an especially strong first film for viewers who want Korean cinema with a broad international cast and an unmistakable satirical edge.

Historical availability caution: Okja is an important editorial inclusion, but its presence in the current Netflix U.S. category should not be assumed. Verify its March 2024 status through an archived catalog or replace it with The Fortress, which has a Netflix title page and offers a very different historical Korean drama.

Content-warning guide

Concern Titles to approach carefully
Graphic violence and revenge Ballerina, Kill Boksoon, The Call, Night in Paradise, Time to Hunt.
Zombies, body horror, or supernatural imagery #Alive, Svaha: The Sixth Finger, The 8th Night.
Stalking, coercion, or sexual exploitation Unlocked, Ballerina, Love and Leashes.
Grief, illness, trauma, or emotionally painful romance 20th Century Girl, Tune in for Love, Sweet & Sour, My Name Is Loh Kiwan.
Animal suffering or environmental anxiety Okja.
War, famine, or historical suffering The Fortress, if used as a substitute.

Netflix maturity ratings and content labels vary by country. The warnings above are descriptive rather than universal age recommendations.

Are these Netflix Originals?

Not necessarily. Netflix uses several different arrangements: it may commission a film, co-produce it, distribute it globally, hold exclusive streaming rights in a territory, or license an existing Korean film for a limited period. For that reason, this guide uses phrases such as “Netflix-backed,” “Netflix release,” or “Netflix catalog title” rather than calling every film a Netflix Original.

Netflix’s own 2024 Korean content announcement identified films including My Name Is Loh Kiwan, Badland Hunters, Uprising, Officer Black Belt, and The Great Flood as part of its Korean film slate. That announcement confirms Netflix’s involvement in those titles, but it does not establish that every Korean movie in this article was produced by Netflix.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What counts as a Korean movie here?

This list focuses on feature films that are primarily South Korean-produced or South Korean-led. Korean-language films qualify even when part of the story takes place abroad. That is why My Name Is Loh Kiwan, which is largely set in Belgium, is included, and why Okja is identified as a South Korean-American co-production rather than presented as an uncomplicated Korean-only production.

Television series such as Squid Game and A Killer Paradox are outside the scope. Film-length specials connected to series, such as Kingdom: Ashin of the North, should also be labeled separately rather than quietly counted as ordinary standalone features.

Why Parasite and Train to Busan are not automatically included

Parasite, Train to Busan, Oldboy, and The Handmaiden are essential Korean films, but fame alone does not establish Netflix U.S. availability in March 2024. A current listing cannot prove that a title was available in that earlier snapshot, and a film may be on Netflix in one country but absent in another. The same rule applies to any famous title added to a future version of this list: verify the territory and date before calling it a Netflix pick.

How to check subtitles, dubbing, and availability

  1. Open the film’s Netflix title page while signed in to the account and country you will use.
  2. Look for the film’s current runtime, maturity rating, audio languages, and subtitle languages.
  3. Start playback and open the Audio & Subtitles menu. Language options can differ by country, profile language, device, and date.
  4. Do not assume that an English dub is available because English subtitles are available.
  5. If you are trying to confirm the March 2024 catalog rather than today’s catalog, use a dated Netflix announcement, a contemporaneous catalog tracker, or an archived Netflix page.

The official Netflix Korean Movies category is useful for checking the current catalog, while What’s on Netflix’s U.S. Korean catalog provides a secondary catalog record and historical additions. Neither should be treated as a permanent guarantee: regional libraries change.

How this March 2024 list was selected

  • Territory: Netflix U.S. is the default reference point because Netflix availability is regional.
  • Time frame: The target is the catalog around March 30, 2024, not an evergreen claim that all 18 films remain available.
  • Scope: Feature films, including Korean-led co-productions, rather than K-dramas or television specials.
  • Variety: The slate deliberately balances thrillers and action with romance, horror, science fiction, comedy, satire, and serious drama.
  • Accessibility: Clear premises, manageable viewing commitments, and strong entry points for people new to Korean cinema matter alongside reputation.
  • Editorial judgment: “Best” reflects distinctiveness, performances, direction, genre execution, emotional impact, and usefulness to a viewer choosing something to watch—not IMDb score alone.

The original article record appears on IMDb with a March 30, 2024 date, Devon Forward byline, and Collider attribution. Because the accessible IMDb record does not expose the complete original body and order, this article presents a transparent recommended slate rather than claiming to have recovered every original ranking. The Collider page is the primary editorial source to consult if an exact reproduction is required.

More Korean movies to consider

If one of the 18 titles has left your local catalog, check the Netflix Korean Movies page for alternatives such as The Fortress, The Drug King, Pandora, Yaksha: Ruthless Operations, or The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure. These are not interchangeable in tone: The Fortress is historical and war-focused, The Drug King is a violent crime drama, and Pandora centers on nuclear-disaster anxiety.

Before publishing or relying on any “currently on Netflix” statement, record the exact country and date checked. Netflix can remove a licensed movie, restore it under a new agreement, change subtitle and dub options, or show different content according to profile and maturity settings.

Availability disclaimer

Netflix availability, audio tracks, subtitles, maturity labels, and regional ratings change over time. A Netflix title page that opens today proves current access only; it does not by itself prove access in March 2024. Check the film directly in your local Netflix catalog before planning to watch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all 18 movies still on Netflix?

Not necessarily. This is a Netflix U.S.-focused March 2024 snapshot, and Netflix catalogs change by country and date. Use the linked Netflix title page or the official Korean Movies category to check current availability.

What is the best Korean movie on Netflix for a beginner?

The Call is the strongest all-purpose starting point if you enjoy thrillers. For other moods, try #Alive for zombies, 20th Century Girl for romance, Space Sweepers for science fiction, or Love and Leashes for a lighter relationship comedy.

Do I need to watch any K-dramas before these movies?

No. These are feature films and are intended to work as standalone stories. Kingdom: Ashin of the North and other series-related specials are separate cases and are not included as ordinary standalone films here.

Are Korean movies on Netflix available with English dubbing?

Some are, but audio and subtitle options vary by country, profile language, device, and date. Check the Audio & Subtitles menu on the specific Netflix title page rather than assuming every film has an English dub.

Why is Okja marked with a warning?

Okja is a strong South Korean-American co-production and a worthwhile inclusion, but its current Netflix U.S. availability should not be assumed from older recommendation lists. Confirm its historical March 2024 status through an archive or choose a verified substitute such as The Fortress.

The Bottom Line

For the quickest decision: choose The Call for suspense, Ballerina for revenge action, #Alive for zombies, 20th Century Girl for romance, or Space Sweepers for science fiction. Just remember that “on Netflix” always needs two details—which country and when.
