The Chosin documentary from the National Geographic vividly retells the story of the twelve thousand men of the 1st Marine Division and a few thousand army soldiers who found themselves trapped in the mountains of North Korea during late November 1950. After five months of brutal fighting, their situation became drastically more dire with the unexpected entry of the People’s Republic of China into the war.
Despite being greatly outnumbered, these brave troops held on for two weeks and fought against all odds in a battle that would go down in history. By displaying remarkable courage and dedication to duty, they managed to break through enemy lines and escape to safety. Their efforts changed the course of U.S foreign policy during Cold War times, setting a powerful example that still motivates modern-day warriors.
