Midwives in crisis in Germany

Midwives across Germany are raising their voices in protest in order to fight for their rights, and one woman stands at the forefront of this movement. Katharina Perreira is both a freelance midwife and a mother, and her passion for her work has inspired her to campaign for change. Joined by the organization Midwife Rebels, their efforts are focused on affordable liability insurance and improving the profession’s public image. But this is only the beginning.

As Midwife Rebels’ message spreads and frustration builds, it has never been clearer that something needs to change. Despite the overwhelming workload carried by midwives, political commitment to their improvement is lacking.
