Germany’s role in NATO and the world

In a world that’s becoming increasingly insecure, the threat of a new arms race looms large. The fate of global peace and security hinges on countries fulfilling their commitments to disarmament treaties and investing in defense. Against this backdrop, Germany finds itself at a crossroads – struggling to meet the challenges posed by the changing geopolitical landscape and the expectations of its NATO allies.

A new documentary takes a deep dive into the state of the German Armed Forces, known as the Bundeswehr, and its efforts to adapt to the complex and uncertain world of 21st-century warfare. Accompanying NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, the filmmakers offer an intimate and compelling look at the soldiers tasked with protecting the Baltic state from a hypothetical invasion by Russia. With tension rising and alliances fraying, the story of the Bundeswehr has never been more relevant or urgent.
