Holding close to 6000 un-convicted inmates, the jail system is pushed to its limits.
Theroux visits an alleged triple murderer who is facing the possibility of a death sentence if convicted. He also follows a group of forty younger inmates who have escaped prison by pleading guilty and agreeing to attend a four month military style boot camp. Among them is a 14-year-old boy facing ten years in prison if he doesn’t complete the program successfully. The strenuous and brutal training that awaits these individuals will make or break their future. It is a second chance for those fortunate enough to graduate, but many will drop out and receive prison sentences instead.
