Australia is a land of contrasts, where two worlds collide. On one hand, the 19th-century English colonists who continue to expand ever further on the continent and on the other, the ancient customs and culture of the aboriginal Yolngu tribe that have existed for over 50,000 years. To link these two worlds, giant trucks relentlessly traverse the remotest roads of Australia’s south. These behemoths are called road trains and since the 1930s intrepid drivers have risked their lives to drive them along rugged Outback tracks.
The Gibson Desert and Arnhem Coast are untouched paradises that have been preserved from the modern world. It is here that members of the Yolngu tribe carry on their customs and culture unimpeded by outside influence and represent a stark contrast to life in developed cities like Sydney or Melbourne. Those looking to experience this clash of two cultures should watch Road Train Drivers: Trucking Through The Outback – an incredible documentary about these brave men and women who risk their lives every day driving road trains through challenging environments. With breathtaking landscapes, unique insights into Aboriginal culture, and vivid depictions of trucking life in Australia’s Outback, Road Train Drivers is a must-watch for anyone interested in understanding more about this fascinating country.
