China’s Arctic campaign – What does China want in the region?

As the world becomes more interconnected than ever before, countries jostle for power and influence in the most unlikely of places – the Arctic. While warming temperatures have made new pathways and resources available, the rush to the top of the world has major geopolitical implications. In the upcoming documentary “Arctic Power Play,” third-person narration takes us deep into the heart of China’s strategic moves to build a “Polar Silk Road” to the Arctic.

As the Chinese government seeks to expand its sphere of influence, the project has alarmed some and raised questions about Beijing’s real goals. Meanwhile, other major powers such as the US and Russia eye China’s interest in the region with suspicion. Against the backdrop of rapidly melting Arctic ice, “Arctic Power Play” weaves together striking visuals, expert analysis and interviews with entrepreneurs, emissaries, and mediators, to show how the new geopolitics of the Arctic are playing out on the ground. Don’t miss “Arctic Power Play,” a gripping exploration of a region that is fast emerging as the new frontier of global competition.
